Can I masturbate every day once is it harmful or risky? Can it affects on good health or fitness and all.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Can I masturbate every day once is it harmful or risky? Can it affects on good health or fitness and all.
Yes you can and Masturbation is the self-stimulation of the genitals to achieve sexual arousal and pleasure, usually to the point of orgasm (sexual climax). It is commonly done by touching, stroking, or massaging the penis or clitoris until an orgasm is achieved. Some women also use stimulation of the vagina to masturbate or use "sex toys, such as a vibrator. Just about everybody. Masturbation is a very common behaviour, even among people who have sexual relations with a partner. In one national study, 95% of males and 89% of females reported that they have masturbated. Masturbation is the first sexual act experienced by most males and females. In young children, masturbation is a normal part of the growing child's exploration of his or her body. Most people continue to masturbate in adulthood, and many do so throughout their lives. In addition to feeling good, masturbation is a good way of relieving the sexual tension that can build up over time, especially for people without partners or whose partners are not willing or available for sex. Masturbation also is a safe sexual alternative for people who wish to avoid pregnancy and the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases. It also is necessary when a man must give a semen sample for fertility testing or for sperm donation. When sexual dysfunction is present in an adult, masturbation may be prescribed by a sex therapist to allow a person to experience an orgasm (often in women) or to delay its arrival (often in men). While it once was regarded as a perversion and a sign of a mental problem, masturbation now is regarded as a normal, healthy sexual activity that is pleasant, fulfilling, acceptable and safe. It is a good way to experience sexual pleasure and can be done throughout life. Masturbation is only considered a problem when it inhibits sexual activity with a partner, is done in public, or causes significant distress to the person. It may cause distress if it is done compulsively and/or interferes with daily life and activities. In general, the medical community considers masturbation to be a natural and harmless expression of sexuality for both men and women. It does not cause any physical injury or harm to the body, and can be performed in moderation throughout a person's lifetime as a part of normal sexual behaviour. Some cultures and religions oppose the use of masturbation or even label it as sinful. This can lead to guilt or shame about the behaviour. Some experts suggest that masturbation can actually improve sexual health and relationships. By exploring your own body through masturbation, you can determine what is erotically pleasing to you and can share this with your partner. Some partners use mutual masturbation to discover techniques for a more satisfying sexual relationship and to add to their mutual intimacy. Sex boosts your body’s ability to make protective antibodies against bacteria, viruses, and other germs that cause common illnesses. Of course, there’s more to cultivating a robust immune system than having a healthy sex life. Eating right, exercising, getting adequate sleep, and keeping up to date with vaccinations all contribute to having strong and healthy defences against contagious illnesses. It is a good exercise .Like every other kind of physical activity, sex burns calories, too! Sitting and watching TV burns about 1 calorie per minute. Having sex increases your heart rate and utilizes various muscle groups, burning about 5 calories per minute. Regular sex cannot replace sessions at the gym, but a having an active, healthy sex life is a nice way to get some extra physical activity. Sexual activity helps keep levels of hormones, like oestrogen and testosterone, in check. When these hormones are out of balance, conditions like heart disease and osteoporosis may develop. When it comes to protecting heart health by having sex, more is better. One study in men showed that those who had sex at least 2 times a week were 50% less likely to die of heart disease than their less sexually active men. Sexual stimulation (including masturbation) and orgasm can help keep pain away. Both activities can reduce pain sensation and increase your pain threshold. Orgasms result in the release of hormones that can help block pain signals. Some women report that self-stimulation through masturbation can reduce symptoms of menstrual cramps, arthritis, and even headache. One study showed that men who had frequent ejaculations (defined as 21 times a month or more) were less likely to develop prostate cancer than those who had fewer ejaculations. It did not matter if the ejaculations occurred through intercourse, masturbation, or nocturnal emissions.

Hi, Take homoeopathic medicine - Schwabe's Damiaplant/ thrice daily for 4 weeks. Management: Regular exercising keeps you fit and healthy, so don't forget to do it. Practice pranayam regularly for half an hour preferably in a garden early in the morning. Not to do these exercises within 4 hours after meals. One can have meals not within 15 minutes after finishing these exercises. These exercises are good for gaining and maintaining good health. Also, practice Pelvic floor exercise or Kegel exercise, consists of repeatedly contracting and relaxing the muscles that form part of the pelvic floor. In order to locate your pelvic muscles try to stop and begin the flow of urine as using the bathroom. You can perform Kegel exercises with the empty bladder as exercising pelvic muscle with the full bladder might result in urinary tract infections.

Hi. Do kegel exercise daily. The average size of penis is 5.54 inches (14.07 cm) length and 3.11 inches (7.9 cm) girth are enough to perform a successful sexual intercourse. When the length of the erect penis is below 4.5 or 4 inches then we call it micro penis.

My boyfriend is suffering from delusions of persecution & is on treatment for substance induced psychotic disorder since an year now. He's not abusing any substance now & he's not scared of people anymore but his delusion on me has not gone away still. He thinks i've drugged him & i'm the cause of all his suffering. He's uncomfortable meeting me. This illness has ripped our relationship apart. He stays in mumbai & I had to leave mumbai because he was totally scared of me. I'm in kolkata. Now the problem is he can't stay with me but can't be away too. He talks to me everyday & we have a platonic relationship. The intensity of his delusion isn't as strong as before though. My question is'will he never realize his delusions? is there any hope? he's suffering from psoriasis too now. How can I contribute in his wellbeing?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Usually drug-induced psychosis fortunately has a two-year duration and will subside on its own. It is good he is on treatment though which will make it easier. Even the geographical distance between you two will give him the space and time to work on the issues since he is blaming you for his self-induced condition. He needs counseling to sort out his distortion with your involvement and come to terms with his contribution and the addiction. Most addicts have a problem accepting the seriousness of their problem and use denial to blame other people and factors for their plight. He needs to sort this out first. You just have to be assuring to him and talk like normal and that you are not guilty of any wrong doing. There is no point in getting into a slanging match while denying it. If that happens, just keep quiet and say that it is up to him to believe you or not. I also think that if he does not work or resolve his problem, you may have to take a call about the future of this relationship from your side at least. You may go about it as gently as possible but the hard reality is that there is something wrong to begin with and unless that is worked up on and dealt with, with some guarantees that that will not recur as a permanent problem in the future, you could be looking at letting him go. If you still want to pursue the relationship, please get involved in his recovery to understand the implications and the extent he has resolved the addiction problem and the psychosis. Sometimes the chemical could have induced an underlying predisposition to the psychosis. Then it is a different situation all together. You must also work on why you were attracted to such a personality, and if that moots some serious work, please do so for your own good, whether you make it with him or not.

Fever for 2-3 days may be due to viral infection. Take paracetamol for fever plenty of oral fluids & one vitamin b complex. You can take all food except refrigerated. However if the temp still remains high after 5 days you may go for a routine blood & urine test for secondary bacterial infection.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. The blood glucose values mentioned show that your fasting levels are diabetic but PP ones are pre-diabetic. So please get a HbA1c% done. If that is above 6.5% then treatment has to be initiated. Secondly I find you are having grade 1 obesity with a BMI of 31.36 kgs/M2. Your ideal body weight should be just about 50 kgs. Being obese is an invitation for diabetes. Hence reducing the weight will help in controlling the blood glucose better and may be preventing developing diabetes. Thanks.

Fainting is a temporary loss of consciousness. If you're about to faint, you'll feel dizzy, lightheaded, or nauseous. Your field of vision may "white out" or "black out. Your skin may be cold and clammy. You lose muscle control at the same time, and may fall down. Fainting usually happens when your blood pressure drops suddenly, causing a decrease in blood flow to your brain. It is more common in older people. Some causes of fainting include Heat or dehydration Emotional distress Standing up too quickly Certain medicines Drop in blood sugar Heart problems If you faint, it's important to find out why it happened. Get yourself evaluated completely. Get a health checkup including ECG a 2D echocardiography and blood test.
