From last one month I am noticing blood from my gums while brushing and irregularly. Can you suggest some cure for it? I would be grateful.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Irregular brushing technique will certainly cause the gums to bleed. Bleeding may also be due to infected & swollen gums. Advise investigation (OPG x-ray) with clinical examination for the treatment to check for bone loss & pockets. Adv. artificial enamel filling, deep cleaning or surgical curettage, a gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Is it true that brush should be used only once a day. The other time, we should clean our teeth with our fingers as using brush twice a day to clean one's teeth can spoil our teeth?

BDS
Dentist, Vadodara
it's a myth. you should brush twice daily with the ultra soft bristle brush. your finger will not be able to reach the area between your teeth. do food will accumulate there leading to decay n gum infection.

I am 60 years and I am a diabetic patient. What will be the total cost for extraction of all teeth and replacement with implantation.

BDS (GOLD MEDALIST)
Dentist, Jamshedpur
You should have controlled diabetes for dental implants. First you should go for proper examination to check wether your oral and general health is fit for inplant surgery. If all parameters are ok then you can go for it. Cost can vary. Its about 25000 or more per tooth implant.

BAD BREATH

BAD BREATH
There are several regions for bad breath.
1- improper oral hygien
2-acidity problem
3- food substance like garlic, onion
4-clean your tongue properly.

I am 28 year old male and facing problem of sensitivity in my teeth. I have already taken root canal of the same tooth around 3 months back. Please suggest me any medicine or toothpaste to medicate.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
A major cause of tooth sensitivity is root exposure. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning along with desensitizing procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person. Until then apply a desensitizing paste (sensodyne tooth paste) on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min until you brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight will be better. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Get your teeth cleaned professionally by scaling and polishing. If you are not satisfied with the results go for bleaching of teeth.

I am 21 years old, I had a lot of teeth ache, can any 1 help me to sort out this problem permanently ?

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hi . You might have a decayed tooth that is causing you the pain. You should visit a dentist. He/she might take a xray of the tooth to see how deep the decay is. If it has reached the nerve(pulp) of the tooth you will need a root canal treatment followed by a cap on the tooth. If it will be decayed extensively you might have get that tooth removed.

My teeth are continuously becoming yellowish in color as water of my living area contains more than enough fluoride wht to do.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

Hi the bleeding from the gums is mainly due to accumulation of calculus beneath the gingiva/gums which can be due improper maintenence of oral hygiene or due pocket formation around the particular teeth consult your family dentist for oral prophylaxis and in the mean time start using any gum astringer.

HOME BLEACH FOR THE TEETH Here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. For faster result you can go for teeth bleaching from dentist.
