Exercises for cervicogenic headache hi dear, I hope you will fitt and fine The following exercises are commonly prescribed to patients with this condition. You should discuss the suitability of these exercises with your physiotherapist prior to beginning them. Generally, they should be performed 2 – 5 times daily and only provided they do not cause or increase symptoms. Your physiotherapist can advise when it is appropriate to begin the initial exercises and eventually progress to the intermediate and advanced exercises. As a general rule, addition of exercises or progression to more advanced exercises should take place provided there is no increase in symptoms. ________________________________________ Initial Exercises Chin Tucks Begin this exercise by sitting or standing tall with your back and neck straight, shoulders should be back slightly. Tuck your chin in as far as you can go without pain and provided you feel no more than a mild to moderate stretch (figure 4). Keep your eyes and nose facing forwards during the movement. Hold for 2 seconds and repeat 10 times provided there is no increase in symptoms. Repeat 3 – 5 times daily Shoulder Blade Squeezes Begin this exercise by sitting or standing tall with your back straight. Squeeze your shoulder blades together as hard and far as possible pain-free (figure 5). Hold for 5 seconds and repeat 10 times provided there is no increase in symptoms. Repeat 3 – 5 times daily. (N. B In some cases it may be beneficial to perform this exercise every 1 or 2 hours provided the exercise does not cause or increase symptoms) Some of the most commonly recommended products by physiotherapists to hasten healing and speed recovery in patients with this condition include: 1.Postural Supports To enjoy a long and healthy life 2.Therapeutic Pillows 3.Ice Packs and Heat Packs 4.Lumbar Rolls (for sitting) 5.Sports Tape (for postural taping) 6.McKenzie Treat Your Own Neck Book 7.Foam Rollers 8.Massage Balls (for self massage) 9.TENS Machines (for pain relief) Lower back pain you can do it this exercise, 1 Lying on your back, bend your right knee into your chest and place a strap or rolled-up towel around the ball of your foot. Straighten your leg toward the ceiling. Press out through both heels. If the lower back feels strained, bend the left knee and place the foot on the ground. Hold for 3-5 minutes and then switch to the left let for 3-5 minutes. 2….Lying on your back, bend your knees into your chest and bring your arms out at a T. As you exhale lower your knees to ground on the right. Keep both shoulders pressing down firmly. If the left shoulder lifts, lower your knees further away from the right arm. Hold for 1-2 minutes each side I hope you will fit and fine.

Hi may be some problem with muscle and connective tissues. But if from long time may be neurological problem may persists. Daily do the stretching of hands palm and forearm muscles and relax them if problem persists then need to consult neurologist and may proceed to further investigations.

For leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Give her r compound tablet 2tblets after lunch end 2 after lunch dinner. Massage narayan taila on knees morning end night. Use knee cap. Add in her food calcium, vitamines, mnirales, milk end milk products.

Hi docs, i have severe pain in both my knees, and have been told its arthiritis. I am 67. I stya fit and am strengthening by legs, and all the relevant muscles.I swim play golf. Of late the pain also has increased. I have a high tolerance of pain. For medication I am taking Dolo 650 twice a day, and Glucosmine one a day. Can you suggest 1. A method to ease the pain. 2 . Is it ok to take DOLO650 TWICE A DAY. 3.Alternate medicines. For the pain . Thanks , and appreciate your effort in going digital.

1) do massage with warm sesame oil or suitable oil for 15 min. Afterwards take hot fomentation for 10 min. 2) start natural calcium supplement. 3) do regular stretching exercise 4) in yoga do bhujangasan, halasan & suryanamaskar. Life-style correction 1) correct your sitting posture. 2) take small pillow or back rest for lower back. 3) foot should rest to floor easily. 4) take small break after 1 hr & walk few steps. 5) do neck & upper back extension, give feedback after 4 days. Best treated with ayurved & panchakarma procedures. 1) massage + steam 2) pinda swedan 3) agnikarma you must start ayurvedic medicines to 1) strengthen bones & muscles. 2) stop further degeneration of joint. 3) healing of joint. 4) release muscular spasm even chronic. 5) reduce swelling & pain.

Your sugar level is slightly higher, so try to keep it under check. Exact location you need to mention. Back pain can be due to various reasons, with age there are some degenerative changes, so better to get x-ray done for knowing the status of your spine, in the meanwhile you can do some hot fomentation then apply some pain relief gel like volini etc. Also you seem to be 10 kg overweight so try to lose that, and learn some back exercises by a physiotherapist to strengthen you core muscles.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user, Sorry to hear this. Cervical spondylosis can cause shoulder and neck pain. Vision problems can be very rarely associated with spondylosis. Please share your MRI report. Best wishes.

Kindly show me photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If no relief in 4_5 days, then contact me again.

Hello apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part and give hot water fomentation .take yograj guggul and agni tundi vati after lunch and dinner with warm water. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Take pranacharya vatari capsule and syrup twice a day. Avoid fermented food. Junk food.

Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily – Lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana? Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Usually thumb pain can be due to tendinitis, arthrosis, carpal tunnel syndrome or a a part of generalized inflammation of surrounding structures. Please tell me whether there is any associated swelling, redness of skin or any local rise of temperature. If not, then I will advise you: - ice packs for local application - thumb spica splint for around 2-3 weeks or till your pain subsides - anti-inflammatory medication as per your suitability for 5-7 days let me know after 2-3 weeks time how you are feeling, if you follow above steps religiously, then your pain should go down significantly.
