Completed 73 years on 30th Dec. Since last 5 years suffering from peripheral diabetic neuropathy where in claudication pain in calf and thies mussels as well as numbness in soles of both the legs. I am suffering from sever cervical, what do I do as my work is on computer for over 10 hrs per day.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. It may have to be further investigated. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If no relief in 4_5 days, then inform again.

Hi I can understand your problem. # relax & stay positive. # take hot and cold fomentation. # learn posture care exercise. # use lumber support. # take break every 20 minutes. # do strengthening exercise of back and core muscles not all back pains are same. do share investigation reports if you have any.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There could be multiple reasons for back pain, it can be issues with back muscles, disc, facet joints, spinal canal itself etc. But if there is only localized pain which is mild to moderate in intensity, with no radiation of pain, no neurological symptoms, and no other symptoms like fever, weight loss, loss of appetite, night sweats etc, initially you can start with: - to maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc in case you are having back pain. Let me know in 2-3 weeks time how you are feeling so that we can discuss further and take your case ahead. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Hello doctors . I am having a pain in my right inner thigh close to the joint in groin area. I do not know water its in the nerve or in bone. I was doing burpies and felt that pain is there anything serious.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretching. Do the cat/cow stretch.

I am 38 years female having severe pain on back side of my shoulders and down up to rib cage I cannot move my arms freely as it hurts I cannot lie on my back or both side of arms as it hurts so I cannot sleep properly. As such I have no pain but suddenly pain is felt while working or doing home jobs and specially in the morning I have severe pain in upper body.

I am facing numbness in Hand fingers and foot finger that to if I sleep more or in the mid day, I face this problem took B12 Injection for 2 months & Vitamin D tablets, it was ok after stopping the medicine and after 3 moths again started slowly, How to cure this without medicine ?

Due to the lack of vitamin b12 in your body this problem arises.Kindly go for fruit juices(Vit C juices) and spinach juices(Add tea spoon of sugar for spinach juices and consume it everyday.Dip your hands and foot inside mug full of bucket of lukeworm water atleast 15 min for two weeks regularly.This will reduce the numbness.

Bone Fractures: Causes and Symptoms

'Fracture' is a medical term for a broken bone. According to an estimate, an average person has two fractures within their lifetime. When a force exerted is stronger than the bone itself, it can lead to a fracture. The risk and chance of fracture depend on your age. With age, bones tend to become brittle and, hence, a fall that would have been potentially harmless years ago can lead to a broken bone at a later age.

There are many types of bone fractures, but the main types are:

Closed fracture: A fracture in which the bone breaks but does not tear through the skin
Open fracture: Where the broken bone punctures through the skin and protrudes out. There's a greater chance of bone infection in an open fracture
Displaced fracture: In this type of fracture the bone snaps into more than two parts
Nondisplaced fracture: The bone cracks partly or wholly but it does continue to move

Some of the common signs and symptoms of a fracture are:

- Bruising and swelling of the bones
- Open fractures marked by protruding bones from the skin
- Loss of locomotive and functional ability of the injured area
- Deformity of the injured area
- Pain in the event of movement of the injured area

A fracture can be caused by a number of reasons, and they are:

- Injuries and accidents
- Falls and slips
- Wear and tear through overuse
- Sport injuries
- Fist fights and brawls
- Osteoporosis (a disease which causes bones to weaken in adults)
- Osteomalacia ( a disease caused due to softening of your bones, which is caused by a vitamin D deficiency.) Soft bones are more likely to bow and fracture than are harder, healthy bones.

Note - Osteomalacia is not the same as osteoporosis. Osteomalacia occurs due to a defect in the bone-building process while osteoporosis develops due to a weakening of existing bones.

This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain. Ice can be kept in the low back where you have back pain. It is suggestible to wear lumbo sacral belt which would help you to build the abdominal muscle tone which itself would make you feel better. You can also wear mcr chappels which would help you to have less weight falling in the painful back.
