I was suffered from periodontal problem and that was cured by deep cleaning and grafting a month back. Now there is big gap between my teeth after the stitch removed from the gum line. I want to know that the gums will grow back to cover the gaps between the teeth. Or some another treatment required?

Hi Aravinth, The receded gums will not grow after periodontal surgery. if it is esthetically bothering you, you have to undergo a gingival uplifting procedure. If it cannot be surgically corrected you can go for multiple crowns to cover the gaps. kindly consult a periodontist in ur area he will help you.

Hi lybrate-user. Filling is just a temporary solution. And it does not stop the decaying of the tooth. You may either need to remove that teeth. Or the dentist will suggest RCT. Consult and take appropriate actions. Till then use Homoeopathic toothpaste heklalava by wheezal. Massage your gums with turmeric and salt twice daily. Take vitamin C. Consult for homoeopathic treatment.

To 10 Dental hygiene Tips

BDS
Dentist, Bhopal
To 10 Dental hygiene Tips

1. Proper brushing: One of the easiest steps to do to help your teeth keep clean. When brushing your teeth, position the bristles at an angle of 45 degrees near the gum line. Both the gum line and the tooth surface should be in contact with the bristles. Brush the outer surfaces of the teeth using a back-and-forth, up-and-down motion, making sure to be done gently in order to avoid bleeding. To clean the inside surfaces of the teeth and gums, place the bristles at a 45-degree angle again and repeat the back-and-forth, up-and-down motion. Lastly, brush the surfaces of your tongue and the roof of your mouth to remove bacteria, which might cause bad breath.

Try to brush at least twice a day to prevent acid buildup from the breakdown of food by bacteria. However, if your work or activities prevent you from doing this, thoroughly rinse your mouth with water after eating to minimize the amount of food that would serve as substrate for the bacteria.

?2. Flossing: We know, it’s a chore and a lot of times forgetful after brushing if rushing out the door or heading to bed. However, flossing can help you remove food particles and other detrimental substances that brushing regularly cannot. Flossing allows you to reach deep between your teeth where the toothbrush bristles cannot reach or even mouthwash cannot wash away. We recommend flossing at least once a day.

3. Avoid tobacco: This will be a big favor to your teeth. One, it will save you from oral cancer and periodontal complications. Two, it will save you from the countless ill effects caused by the agents used to mask the smell of tobacco. For example, if you smoke a cigarette, you may use candies, tea or coffee to mask the smoky breath and odor. This doubles the amount of damage caused.

4. Limit sodas, coffee, and alcohol: Although these beverages contain a high level of phosphorous, which is a necessary mineral for a healthy mouth, too much phosphorous can deplete the body’s level of calcium. This causes dental hygiene problems such as tooth decay and gum disease. Beverages containing additives such as corn syrup and food dye can make pearly white teeth appear dull and discolored. Therefore, it is best to choose beverages like milk, which helps strengthen teeth and build stronger enamel, giving you a healthy, beautiful smile and water which hydrates your body longer than sugary drinks.

5. Consume calcium and other vitamins that are good for the body: You need plenty of calcium for your teeth. It is essential for the teeth as well as your bones. It is better to drink milk, fortified orange juice and to eat yogurt, broccoli, cheese, and other dairy products. You can also take a calcium supplement, taking different doses according to your age and necessity as per prescription. Calcium and vitamin d are necessary for maintaining the health of gums and teeth. Vitamin b complex is also essential for the protection of gums and teeth from cracking and bleeding. Copper, zinc, iodine, iron and potassium are also required for maintaining healthy dental hygiene.

6. Visit your dentist: You should visit your dentist at least twice a year to have a full hygiene treatment performed. Also at these appointments, a comprehensive exam is taken with x-rays to help detect and prevent future dental treatments from occurring.

7. Use mouthwash along side brushing and flossing: Mouthwash is not particularly necessary and not all mouthwashes are useful. Mouthwashes containing Listerine our chlorine dioxide are very helpful because they help to kill and maintain the bacteria in your mouth. It can help maintain good breath as well as help maintain strong teeth. Mouthwash cannot do all the work but if your are already brushing, flossing, visiting the dentist and eating well, mouthwash is the cherry on top that will make your dental health great.

8. Having a toothache or noticing other dental symptoms: ?if you are having tooth and jaw pain make an appointment as soon as possible. Your dentist needs to diagnose the underlying cause and correct it before it turns into a greater problem.

9. Look at the big picture: Everyone understands that you should take care of your teeth to avoid toothaches, maintain your looks and keep dental bills at bay. Many people, however, don’t understand how crucial oral health is to our total health picture. Tooth problems can lead to diabetes, heart disease, systemic infections, an inability to eat or speak properly and other maladies – some life-threatening. Crooked or crowded teeth can contribute to gum disease that can eventually lead to tooth loss. Straight teeth are no longer just for looks.

10. Clean your tongue: ?Clean the surface of your tongue daily. By using a professional tongue cleaner, you remove countless bacteria that otherwise live, particularly on the rougher top surface of your tongue. These can contribute to bad breath (halitosis) and negatively affect your dental health.

Please get scaling and polishing done. All d stains may not be removed as some of them penetrates the tooth because of pan masala from a long time . So if needed you can get bleaching done. Then you can maintain ur oral hygiene by brushing twice daily following a proper brushing technique.

How can I get relief from Cavity in teeth without root canal? please help me and tell home remedies.
If the cavity is shallow then it can be treated by restoration and if the cavity is deep or you are having sensitivity to hot or cold foodstuff then root canal treatment is the first choice of treatment or you can go for extraction of tooth. There is no home remedy which can give you permanent relief from this, you can delay the treatment by taking some medicine but you cannot avoid it permanently.

I have yellow teeth, will using baking soda to remove yellowness harm the enamel layer?

I have yellow teeth, will using baking soda to remove yellowness harm the enamel layer?
Before whitening your teeth, scaling and polishing is done and the dentist assesses your teeth for any dentinal sensitivity and accordingly precautionary measures are taken for it while undergoing bleaching. Also, the bleaching kit that is used by the dentist has the correct amount of concentration of the composition used. So its better not to go in for any household therapy.

I am facing a problem with my teeth. Its a yellowish color. Was should I do to get a White teeth.

BHMS

I am facing a problem with my teeth. Its a yellowish color. Was should I do to get a White teeth.
Hello. When brushing twice a day and flossing doesn't help improve your yellow teeth, it's time to consider other options. Teeth become yellow due to stains – both deep and surface-level – as well as other causes that sometimes aren't under our control. Although coffee and cigarettes leave stains on your teeth over time, thin tooth enamel also makes teeth look yellow. Tooth enamel is the hard, white surface of your teeth, and underneath it is a pale brown substance called dentin. Thick enamel looks white, but thin enamel allows dentin tones to show through, making teeth look yellow from the outside. Enamel naturally wears thin as people age, but acids from foods and drinks such as sour candies, oranges and soda also thin the enamel by eroding its surface. Saliva neutralizes acid and washes it away, but people suffering from dry mouth miss out on this protective effect. Other causes of yellow teeth include antibiotic use or excessive fluoride intake in young children, which can cause yellow-stained adult teeth later. Treatments for certain conditions can also affect tooth color. For example, head and neck radiation and chemotherapy can cause teeth discoloration. In addition, certain infections in pregnant mothers can cause tooth discoloration in the infant by affecting enamel development. Certain medication, mouth rinses can also causes yellow staining. Preventing Yellow Teeth: Avoiding smoking, coffee and soda helps prevent yellow teeth, or you can get into the habit of drinking those darker beverages through a straw. Drink milk or plain water after eating or drinking something acidic to help reduce the acid's eroding effect. Brushing and flossing also help, and avoiding snacks between meals allows your saliva to dilute the acids in your mouth too. Using over-the-counter whitening agents will also helps. Discolorations are generally responsive to bleaching procedures.

Eating Habits

MDS - Periodontics
Dentist, Thane
Eating Habits
Proper nutrition is necessary for healthy teeth and gums. Eating a well-balanced diet gives gum tissues and teeth the important nutrients and minerals needed to stay strong and resist infections. Soft, sticky foods tend to remain on the grooves and between teeth. Hence thorough rinsing after every meal is necessary.

Although there are many causes of bleeding gums like any bleeding disorder, ill fitting denture, improper flossing, use of blood thinner, deficiency of vitamin k etc. But the most common cause in most of the patient is gingivitis or periodontitis that is inflammation of gum due to plaque build up because of poor oral hygiene. I have issue with teeth always paining and blooding at the time of brush, What to do?
Bleeding from gums during brushing is caused by debris near the gums that cause gum sweeling. It also causes pain and sensitivity. You may require tooth cleaning (scaling) to be done. Consult your dentist.
