Dear lybrate user, one of the major nutritional substance required for human body is carbohydrate. We take carbohydrate in the form of rice, wheat, sugar etc. The complex molecules of carbohydrate are broken down into simple glucose molecules during digestion & released in the blood stream to be absorbed by the muscle cells. Muscle cells utilise the glucose molecules to release energy by breaking down those glucose molecules. Insulin hormone plays a vital role in the absorption of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells. In abnormal conditions, either due to less production of insulin or due to resistance to insulin, the process of absorption of glucose by the muscles comes to a stand still. The glucose molecules remains in the bloodstream which results in the increase in the blood sugar level. The failure of utilisation of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells results in production of less energy than normal condition. This is externally manifested as the fatigue & tiredness of the patient. This excess amount of blood sugar compels the kidney to function more than normal level in order to excrete the blood sugar molecules through urine. As a result the patient suffers from frequent urination. This abnormal condition is clinically known as diabetes mellitus. Once a patient is diagnosed with diabetes he has to take regular medicine to keep his blood sugar level within normal limits. Your freind needs to take homoeopathic mother tincture gymnema sylvestra q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Also he should walk at least 1 hour daily without any interval. Also he should to take a low carbohydrate rich diet. He should avoid rice, sweet dishes, fruits, cold drinks, fast foods, alcoholic beverages, potato etc.

Anyway the appropriate diet for your father is reduce or completely avoid that kind of food items having starch or sucrose, like rice, potato, cane suger, bananas. And all other items having rich amount of carbohydrate. And reduce the amount of saturated fat. And cholesterol. Like egg yolk etc.

Diabetes cases are on the rise. Healthy lifestyle changes can control diabetes. Certain foods that are packed with fiber, omega-3s, calcium and vitamin d can help you. Try these foods to get relief from diabetes.

Top foods to control diabetes

Beans: they contain soluble fiber and lean proteins. Beans help in burning body fat, they lower the cholesterol levels and stabilize blood-sugar levels. Hence go for beans!

Oats: they are high in soluble fiber which slows down the absorption process in the stomach. This will in turn keep the blood-sugar levels in control.

Tuna: an 85 g of tuna contains 1, 300 mg of omega-3s and vitamin d. But tuna has mercury hence limit your intake to 340 gm a week.

Yoghurt: low-fat yoghurt contains high-quality carbohydrates and proteins, both are best to control blood sugar levels. Research shows that 1, 200 mg of calcium and more than 800 iu of vitamin d a day cuts down the risk of diabetes by 33%. If possible opt for greek yoghurt since it contains more proteins than regular non-fat yoghurt.

Dates: dates have a sweet taste and delightful texture, which makes them a great snack. Seven dates contain 4 gm of fiber; hence they are perfect for controlling diabetes.

Spinach: it is low in calories and has low-impact on blood sugar. Hence spinach is great for controlling diabetes.

Wild salmon: it is packed with omega-3s and it contains healthy fats and proteins. Consumption of wild salmon will slow down the absorption of carbohydrates which will in turn control the blood sugar levels.

Egg whites: they are loaded with high-quality proteins and are low in carbohydrates. One large egg white consists of 16 calories and 4 gm of high-quality proteins. Hence they are ideal for controlling blood sugar levels.

Avocados: they are packed with monosaturated fats which are great to control blood sugar levels.

Flaxseeds: they contain omega-3s which lowers the cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

If you suffer from diabetes, include the above foods in your diet. You will realise a decrease in the blood sugar levels.

It is good to know that your blood sugar is in control. I am sure you are aware, when in control fasting blood glucose should be near 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg/100 ml and hba1c%<6.8. If glucose levels are higher than these then control is not considered good, plus it increases the chances of long term complications. As regards taking a" pain killer" you have not mentioned which one is being taken. Any pain killer is bad for the kidneys if taken regularly and for long time. But some are more harmful. Nsaids (like ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, aceclofenac, mefenemic acid, piroxicam, meloxicam etc) are definitely bad for long term and continuous use. These drugs damage the kidney. So it is better to avoid. Thanks.

High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. Garlic,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines . Cap. Mr. lybrate-user, Looking at your weight and height it is clear that you have grade 1 obesity with a BMI of 30.5 kgs/M2. Your ideal body weight should be closer to 65 kgs, hence, carrying an extra weight of 25 kgs. This itself can be a major reason for various problems. Plus if uric acid is hige (above 7 mg/100 ml), then that to may contribute to joint pains. You may have avoid high purine containing foods like red meat, organ meats, certain fishes like sardines, salmon, scallops, herrings, haddock and mushrooms and mussels. Also alcohol and aerated drinks need to be avoided. Thanks.
