Dr. I'm suffering from discoloration of My teeth and my dentist told me to brush with white toned toothpastes. I've tried many whitening pastes still no result.

BDS
Dentist, Noida
First of all visit dentist for professional cleaning (scaling). After that if again you feel that your teeth are yellow then go for teeth whitening procedure (teeth bleaching, this procedure if fruitful for extrinsic stains only.

My 21 month daughter have bottle tooth decay in front four teeth. Cavity is growing very fast. What should I do for her. I am so worried.

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Pune
1. Whatever your reason for starting your little one on bottle feeding, become aware that bottle feeding has many disadvantages including negative interference in oral & facial development. So stop bottle feeding. By this age babies develop hand coordination to be able to hold a cup or a small glass and drink. 2. Visit a Pedodontist and get treated for the existing dental problem and seek more information on preventive measures. Keep a follow-up 3. If your baby has feeding problems or diet related confusions, visit a pediatrician. Get a diet consultation from a dietician. Its a must for every new parent these days. 4. Do not be insecure. Babies can sense it. Be a strong mumma. She is learning from you. She is going to be prefectly fine.

Please suggest me some way

Dentist, Gurgaon
praveen, bad breath can be due to sinusitis or other diseases also. if it would be an oral condition, then since you have followed the dentist's instructions correctly and did all whatever they asked you for, this problem would have gone. as it still persists, it seems to be due to other reasons. visit an oral surgeon for confirming sinusitis, if it's not, visit physician.

How can I get rid of bad odour from my mouth and please suggest me any natural remedies or medicine to get out from this problem.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too.

Ask the orthodontist to kindly place the Metallic Ligature tags in place of Rubbers They would be less quite esthetic and hygienic.

For sensitive teeth you can use desensitizing toothpaste. For your toothache I would suggest you consult a dentist as soon as possible as tooth pain can be due to various reasons and it is important to determine the underlying cause.

I have a teeth which is having germs and it needs root canal treatment, what should I do?

BDS
Dentist, Bilaspur
Hello whatever your age be. Saving a tooth is always recommended as extraction can be done anytime in life but chance for saving that tooth would come only once. I haven't seen the xray but if a dentist has advised root canal better do it.

Hello, I am 34 years old male and I have a dry mouth for last 4 months. When I drink water after 30 minute I need water. What should I do.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. Drink plenty of water. You may need chewing gum or sialogogues (pilocarpine 30 mg/day. Contraindications - include many lung conditions, such as asthma, cardiac problems, epilepsy and parkinson's disease). You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I am having toothache since last night. I have used painkiller but does not cured. What should I do?

MDS Prosthodontics, MDS Endodontist
Dentist, Ahmedabad
It won't be cured by medicine. Visit your dentist, I think you have pulpitis which needs to be treated by rct (root canal treatment) and it's cause is mainly infection in your tooth.
