My mother has lost taste in the mouth. She is 75. My father died last June. She is longing to have food but is not able to taste much. She is a diabetic on tablets and not insulin. Sugar levels are not in the manageable range since she has to eat sweetish things sometimes to get taste.

I am 23 years old female. I have a problem of gum disease wanted to go for operation how much it costs and does it involves any side effects pls kindly suggest me.

BDS
Dentist, Kolar
Your question can b well answered if more info was available to us. Generally speaking, cost of gum surgeries depends on type of surgery involved, location of clinic n also the experience of surgeon. As for side effects ques, surgeries r considered wen the results of surgery over-weigh its side effects. Also side effects of gum surgery r min.

Snoring can be due to many causes and due to obstruction anywhere in the breathing passage. To determine site of obstruction you need sleep endoscopy. Also to determine the degree of harmful effect of breathing obstruction on your body you need to get polysomnography (sleep study).

I am 22 year old male. I have a cavity in my one tooth. So is it necessary that it require rct. Normal removal of carries and filling can also be done.

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Jodhpur
Rct is only need when cavity extend to or very near to tooth pulp. So if you can share your x-ray with me than only I can tell that you require rct or normal filling will work. As a general rule if you have pain in that particular tooth than you require a rct.

I am 28 years male. Suffering from dental pain at left upper m1 and m2. The dentist took the xray and explained as m2 is completely infected and m1 is infected but in the outermost layre of enamil.

BDS (GOLD MEDALIST)
Dentist, Jamshedpur
According to you x-ray the tooth which is completely infected and if pulp is exposed, rct is the only option and the tooth in which only enamel is infected can be saved by filling.

I think so my teeth are yellow first in 3 days and then in 5 months please tell me what should I do.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Use homeodent toothpaste twice daily, morning and night before sleep. Home remedy:- cleaning your teeth with fresh orange peel on a regular basis will reduce the yellow tinge accumulated on your teeth. Rub orange peel over your teeth every night before going to sleep. The vitamin c and calcium in the orange peel will combat the micro organisms throughout the night. Do this for a few weeks and you will notice effective results. If fresh orange peel is not available, you can use dried orange peel powder. Take care.

Can we drink some water early morning on empty stomach and throw up voluntarily after brushing teeth?

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Dear Srikanth, drinking water on empty stomach is a good habit but throwing up voluntarily while brushing is NOT. The vomiting fluid is acidic and if you develop this habit, the acidic fluid can damage your teeth. Brush gently, clean your tongue properly but don't try to VOMIT.

I have 2 milk teeth. And now at the age of 25 my milk teeth are shaking. Is there will be any problem with this? please suggest, I am very much worried about this.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hello Lybrate user Retained milk teeth beyond the age of 13-14 years is abnormal and indicates either missing permanent teeth or permanent teeth buried in unusual way in the bone, hampering their eruption. Also as your retained milk teeth have started shaking, it's time for their removal, otherwise it may lead to pain and infection. Please consult a experienced dentist, who'll advise a detailed X-ray/scan (OPG) and plan your treatment. We'll be happy to help. Please feel free to call if you're located nearby.

Is there any other options besides root canal treatment? How to fight bad breath? What medicine or supplement should be taken for healthy teeth's? Is toothpaste better then manjan or datoon.

Bad breath or called as" halitosis" there are various reasons for bad breath. First of all update your medical history as the problem could be elsewhere in your body but will be shown as bad breath through your mouth as mouth being the gateway for your complete system. Apart from that there might be local soft or hard deposits on your teeth which can cause bad breath. This might need professional cleaning by the dentist your teeth might be not well aligned, which we call as" crowded" teeth which makes its challenging for you to keep it clean. So consult an orthodontist (specialist for braces) to align your teeth. Your health of the gums might be compromised which also leads to bad breath. Consult a periodontist for gum problems. Your teeth might have cavities where the food can get lodged and might lead to bad breath. Consult your dentist for this. Inspite of regular cleaning and brushing it might be difficult for you to get a fresh breath. As I mentioned above your dentist will tell you exactly the problem areas. Make sure you do your part well. Regular brushing of your teeth twice daily regular flossing of your teeth (which means cleaning between your teeth by means of floss) clean your tongue gently as it can harbour bacteria causing bad breath stay away from tobacco related habits consume a lot of water and stay hydrated. As dry mouth also leads to bad breath. Please do not use mouth washes if not prescribed by your dentist as they have their own side effects which would be a negative to your oral health. Pay a visit to your dentist every 6 months or earlier for routine cleaning as suggested by your dentist. Problems diagnosed and treated earlier needs less attention as well as works out financially easier for you. I hope I clarified your question. If you need further clarification you can always buzz me or ask your dentist. Good luck and god bless

I have a swollen gum above the wisdom tooth, its very painful, applied gum care lotion, can you suggest some antibiotic.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
it is called as pericoronitis. . if swelling is not there in jaw or cheek ,treat it by rinsing your mouth with warm salt water. You should also make sure that the gum flap has no food trapped under it. If the pain and inflammation are severe, or if the pericoronitis recurs, oral surgery to have the gum flap or wisdom tooth removed may be necessary.

My sister is eight years old, this year at the month of March her front tooth feel off naturally but still now there's no sign of growing particularly one of her front tooth. Couple of tooth had fallen after that and are all grown back normally. Your advice will be highly appreciated.

BDS, MDS, FORENSIC ODONTOLOGY
Dentist, Amreli
It generally happens that eruption of permanent teeth may delay, but as its more than six months, I suggest you to consult dentist and have one x-ray done of that region so that condition can be diagnose properly.
