Definitely I am going to help you. Failing in one exam does not mean failing in life. Your destiny is to do something better in life, that is why you have been kept reserved for that role. Although it was your dream, but any person must have a second way. There are many other options which are awaiting for you to embrace my child. Take the support of your family members and well wishers and make your mind to move ahead in life. All the best. I also had a dream of becoming a painter, but I could not, but still wherever I am I am try to give my best to society and mankind. You also think in that way.

I am not able to concentrate on anything. I have frequent headaches. My highers studies (research) are in a complete mess. I had a breakup recently after a long relationship just before it was time to get married. I dont like doing anything. I can hardly eat or sleep. I forget things and do stuffs rather weirdly. Is it affecting my mental status? Any medicine? I want my life back on track! Please advise.

You are emotionally distraught. Perhaps the recent breakup may be a compelling cause, especially since it was a long courtship and collapsed so close to marriage. Look at how angry you are, and the quicker you deal with that, the faster your recovery. Not expressing anger is one aspect of the problem, but when anger is turned inwards, it can make you depressed. The signs are already manifesting in you. Emotions that have not been expressed can play havoc with balance and mental stability. You have to put your life back on track but you need help and support. Do seek the counsel of a therapist and discuss all that is disturbing you to put the zip back into your life. If the counselor feels that you need some medication, s/he will recommend you to a psychiatrist. Do not delay and do cooperate with the therapy, completely.

If a psychotic patient is not accepting his condition what are the possibilities of recovery and how much time it would take? Do these patients actually accept they are not well?

They will accept only after they have come under control and you have to give treatment anyway for that.

Dear , video game addictions are latest development. Many people are addicted to such games. Many are addicted to face book or whatsup. The method is to find a more entertaining activity like games (indoor or outdoor) or some more entertaining pass time like going to movie or outing etc. Once you find your passion into these activities, automatically game addiction will wane off. Don't worry. I suggest you to have an online counseling session with me. Take care.

Appears to me that both of you are unable to understand each other's needs and expectations. You can talk to your partner about each other's needs and expectations and how things are effecting your relationship. If both of you are unable to come at a common ground then it may be helpful if you could discuss your issues with your parents or significant figures in your family. Talk to them about how you are feeling in this relationship. Collectively you can arrive at a conclusion. Don't suffer silently. Seek help.

Is there a Biological Basis of Depression?

Life is constant game of changes and people who can adapt to it and move on generally tend to find their pockets of happiness. From bad finances to lack of love to a near ones loss, each of us constantly face struggles that can leave us drained and depressed. People often work on these external factors to find their happiness. Those who suffer from depression as an illness though find it taking over multiple spheres of their lives disabling them from doing routine tasks with ease. Depression, like other diseases, can also have a biological origin.

Several theories concerning the biologically based cause of depression have been suggested over the years. Simply put, chemical imbalance in the brain can be a trigger to depression. As the'command center' of our body, the brain uses a number of chemicals as messengers to communicate with other parts of itself and with the nervous system. These chemical messengers, called neurotransmitters are released and received by the brain's nerve cells called neurons. Neurons are constantly communicating with each other by way of exchanging neurotransmitters. This communication system is essential to all of the brain's functions.

Among the biological causes of depression, the most prominent and widely researched is the monoamine hypothesis. The three main monomine triggers of imbalances that trigger depression are neurotransmitters called serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine. Serotonin regulates functions like sleep, aggression, eating, sexual behavior, and mood. Similarly, the catecholamine hypothesis suggests that a deficiency of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine (also known as noradrenaline) in certain areas of the brain was responsible for creating depressed mood. Norepinephrine helps our bodies to recognize and respond to stressful situations.

Dopamine plays in important role in helping each of us seek out our'high' or'pleasure' from rewards. Low dopamine levels may in part explain why depressed people don't derive the same sense of pleasure out of activities or people that they did before becoming depressed.

Another leading cause of clinical depression is focused on the endocrine system. The endocrine system is responsible for making hormones and releasing them into the blood to regulate processes like reaction to stress and sexual development. Hormonal irregularities may lead to depressive symptoms like loss of appetite and sleep. It is further observed that those who have particular endocrine disorders sometimes develop depression, and some individuals who are depressed develop endocrine problems despite having healthy glands.

In a research done among depressed individuals, over half had a hormone called cortisol in excess in their body and abnormal times of secretion.

Depression can have many triggers and origins and it is important to see the right doctor who can treat the cause, triggers and symptoms in addition to the disease. Depression has a genetic predisposition. Also, the faulty thought pattern alters the physiology by upsetting the hormonal balance. Psychological professional help should be a priority in depression and its role should not be under emphasized.

Weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. Some tips 1) drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take of your total as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests. For more detailed and personal advice ask me privately.

Figs are mainly made of polyunsaturated fats, which add healthy calories to your diet. Also, figs contain a good amount of carbohydrates that will help you gain weight. Soak five to six dried figs in water overnight. The next day, eat them in two parts during the day. Do this daily for about a month. Alternatively, soak two dried figs overnight in milk and eat it before breakfast. Follow this routine for two months.

Hello Vavachi, I am sorry to learn about the hardships you faced in your marriage. You said you have been living separately from your partner for about 1.5 years, now. And that you have a small baby. Does that mean you are living with your parents? I presume most of your time must be spent in taking care of your toddler. Your symptoms are arising out of worry. You must be traumatized because of the past events, you are probably carrying all the unpleasant memories of the past and are also tense about your future. Following are my suggestions to you- 1. Talk to your mother and father about the problems you faced at your husband's place, at length. 2. Take a decision about your future- whether you want to go back to your husband’s home or seek legal separation. 3. Seek counseling from a good Psychological Counselor in your city. They can help you overcome your trauma and also plan the next steps for the future. I hope this helps you. Best Wishes for the future. Don't worry, you will overcome these problems.

I am becoming extremely depressed and lonely. I am going thru a rough time and sometimes I wish there was someone there for me whom I could just hug and cry. My mother and father live abroad while I have been studying in india in hostel for past 6 years. Of course my parents love me and care for me but their mindset is different. They provide for me and protect me, they ask about my health and studies and if all is ok? But I can not open up to them because they do not understand my issues. They do not believe in showing physical affection. They think its awkward now that im a grown woman. But deep inside I still a little girl crying out for love care affection and acceptance. I can not have a boyfriend. Dad will definitely disown me. Girls in my hostel are very competitive and I have not found a best or anyone too close although I do have many friends. I feel so low and socially crippled. I can not even make small talk to people anymore without it being awkward. How do I address this need to be loved and accepted that making me restless?
