There are many causes of dry mouth. Dry mouth most commonly occurs as a side effect of medications that cause decrease saliva production, including blood pressure medications, antihistamines, antidepressants, diuretics, non steroidal anti-inflammatory, and many others. Other causes of dry mouth are radiation treatments to treat cancerous tumors of the head and neck, salivary gland diseases, diabetes, hormonal imbalance, mouth breathing, sleep apnea, and autoimmune disorders such as sjgren' s syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus. Eating disorders, such as bulimia and anorexia, are other risk factors for developing xerostomia. Salivary production can be decreased if a major salivary duct becomes blocked, such as from a stone or infection. Dry mouth will often occur during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to dehydration and hormonal changes. Other causative factors include stress, anxiety, depression, and dehydration. Please tell me your cause and then we can proceed for the treatment. Meanwhile, restricting caffeine intake and letting ice melt in the mouth will help the mouth remain as moist as possible. Other remedies include medications that help increase salivary flow such as pilocarpine (salagen) and cevimeline (evoxac). Artificial saliva substitutes are alsoa good help for you.

I'm 22 year old male. Every morning saliva forms in my mouth unusually as soon as I realize that I'm awake. Even I spit it once, it forms again and this thing repeats again and again until I brush in the morning. This thing also happens before sleep at night many times where I don't brush and slowly fall asleep with continuously spitting the saliva. This thing is happening to me for 7 months from now but never happened before. What should I do?

Hypersalivation also called ptyalism is excessive production of saliva. It has also been defined as increased amount of saliva in the mouth, which may also be caused by decreased clearance of saliva.Hypersalivation can contribute to drooling if there is an inability to keep the mouth closed or in difficulty in swallowing the excess saliva (dysphagia). Reasons for Hypersalivation are---------- 1.Gastroesophageal reflux disease, in such cases specifically called a water brash, and is characterized by a sour fluid or almost tasteless saliva in the mouth. 2.Excessive starch intake 3.Mouth ulcers. 4.Oral infections 5.Liver Problems 6.Medicines----certain medicines initiate salivation if you are presently on medicines for any problem. Treatment of your problem can be done by treating the underlioned factor causing salivation.

Teeth should not be used for opening cold drink caps kind of things, its not the function of teeth, such habits put undue pressure on teeth these are not good habits. Use opener from now onwards. And for bad breath as you have already undergone scaling and polishing follow proper brushing techniqe and healthy oral hygiene practice. Visit your nearest dentist for demo of proper brushing technique and other oral hygiene habits. Even then if problem persists make sure you are not suffering from any other underlying disease since few underlying disease can also cause bad breath.

Kindly get an x-ray done of the rct treated tooth. May be infection has occurred again. Avoid eating from that side of the tooth having pain till the time you don't take x-ray and the required treatment for it because it will pain more. Till then you can take a pain killer like tab flozen ns. This will help in reducing pain n swelling but this is going to give you temporary relief.

5 Reasons to go for Dental Implant

MDS - Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics, BDS

Implants should be fitted within one year of losing a tooth since the jaw bone surrounding a tooth starts to shrink in size and gradually becomes so small that it fails to support an implant.

Dental implants are generally identified as substitutes for tooth roots. Besides, replacing damaged or decayed teeth, implants also provide a strong foundation for both permanent as well as removable replacement teeth.

To protect your jawbone: Not filling up empty spaces in your mouth can severely affect your jawbone. It begins to lose its firmness and strength as a consequence of no longer being able to support a natural tooth. Dental implants help in stimulating bone growth while preventing bone loss.
To eat properly: Eating becomes comparatively easier with implants rather than sliding dentures, because they function like your own teeth.
They do not move or shift but remain in place: Dental implants resemble your own natural teeth as they fuse with the bone permanently. Moreover, being fixed in one place due to the fusion, you can expect the replacement teeth to not move or shift.
To keep your face from sagging: Missing teeth can cause your face to sink and sag, giving you a very sad and aged appearance. Dental implants provide you with the chance to retain the natural shape of not only your face but your smile too.
To gain healthy and natural looking teeth without affecting surrounding teeth: Nearby, teeth are not altered to support the implant, so your natural teeth remain intact. They help in preventing healthy teeth nearby from shifting, which is very common if there's an empty space next to a healthy tooth for a long period of time. The procedure sees a replacement tooth being positioned in place of the lost tooth so that it not only looks but feels like a natural tooth.

Few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.
