There are so many reasons for cancer What are the main reasons of spreading of cancer virus to others?

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Cancer can not be spread from one individual to other, it is not a transmissible disease. If there are many people in family suffering from cancer then there could be genetic link or if many People are suffering from cancer in locality then there could be common risk factor like some industry close by, soil source of water may be polluted or some common exposure to carcinogens.

I am a 39 yr old and a mother of 2yr old son. I used to have small lump on my left breast and used to get mild bouts of pain 4-5 years back but it vanished itself after sometime. Now after marriage and childbirth I am getting a feeling that the lump is developing again. On checking I don't find the lump that prominent. However, mild pain is experienced sometimes. Please suggest.

DNB (General Surgery)
General Surgeon, Bangalore
See a surgeon to get the lump examined. Get an ultrasound if breast and maxilla as well. Keep examining the breast once a week itself in front of a mirror. Don't get stressed.

You have lower urinary tract symptoms also known as luts. Two most common cause of your symptoms is benign hypertrophy of prostate known as bhp or diabetes. Two can be diagnosed easily by usg lower abdomen and blood sugar examination respectively. If you have prostate problems diagnosed by usg, then it is a very treatable condition.

Mam, In my right breast, it seems lumps, it remains there for more than 5 yrs, it doesn't pains me. Suggest if mammography is required.

MS - General Surgery
General Surgeon, Sri Ganganagar
Hi, by your history it sounds like fibrocystic changes, which is normal developmental changes. But get it examined by a surgeon to be sure. There is no immediate need of mammography. It can be decided after proper examination. If need be prefer ultrasound over mammography, if age less than 35 years and reverse for age more than 35 years. Regards sahil.

My wife delivered a baby 2 months ago. She is getting a lump in her left breast, can you please provide a solution on treating this?

Fellowship In Breast Surgery, Fellowship In Onco-plastic Breast Surgery, MRCS (Edinburgh), MS - General Surgery, MBBS
Oncologist, Gurgaon
Sorry to hear about your wife's problem. The commonest cause of a lump and pain during the time he lasy is breastfeeding is a breast abscess or infection. She should get an ultrasound done to rule out any abscess. Ulrasound will also rule out any other cause of a lump like a galactocele (milk collection) or a tumor.

It's a cracking and infection of nipple. Commonly occurs during lactation. You can apply the nipcrack cream. Check whether the baby is in correct posture while feeding and suckling well.

What are the symptoms of blood cancer I have already seen the symptoms in affected person which I'm seeing now on my own Frnd is there any possibilities to be same.

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Dear sir, symptoms are due to overpopulation of one of the components of blood leading to suppression of others.hence symptoms may be frequent infection, bleeding, fever, anaemia, easy bruising, weight loss, lumps, bone pains etc. Routine cbc and blood smears are good for screening before symptoms arise.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help for your grandmother. Presumably, her oncologist must have decided the treatment approach basis a lot of factors including her IHC study. However, should you not be convinced, you can always take an expert second opinion from one another breast oncologist asap, and decide accordingly. An integrative treatment with alternative medicines is likely to help improve clinical outcomes, as contextually possible. You can connect with detailed diagnostics, treatment history etc all for a parallel naturopathic traction as appropriate. Do take care and all the very best.

PREVENTING CANCER WITH NUTRITION and LIFESTYLE CHANGE

PG Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition, B.Sc Dietetics/Nutrition, Certificate course in Nutrition and Child care

PREVENTING CANCER WITH NUTRITION and LIFESTYLE CHANGE

GOOD LIFESTYLE CAN SHRINK TUMORS & COMBAT CANCER.

We exactly do not know what causes Cancer & but there are various organizations that are working hard to continuously review and assess the body of evidence on diet, physical activity and cancer.

The 2007 report by WCRF/AICR International state 10 point recommendation for prevention of Cancer.

AICR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CANCER PREVENTION:

1. Be as lean as possible without becoming underweight.

2. Be physically active for at least 30 minutes every day.

3. Avoid sugary drinks. Limit consumption of energy-dense foods (particularly processed foods high in sugar, or low in fiber, or high in fat).

4. Eat more of a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and legumes, such as beans.

 5. Limit consumption of red meats, such as beef, pork and lamb, and avoid processed meats.

6. If consumed at all, limit alcoholic drinks to 2 for men and 1 for women a day.

7. Limit consumption of salty foods and foods processed with salt (sodium).

8. Don’t use supplements to protect against cancer. Special Population Recommendations

9. It’s best for mothers to breastfeed exclusively for six months and then add other liquids and foods.

10. After treatment, cancer survivors should follow the recommendations for cancer prevention. And always remember – do not smoke or chew tobacco

RULE OF THUMB FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Use these tips to make more walking part of your day:

• Start parking at the perimeter of the lot or two blocks away if you’re using street parking, instead of trying to get as close as possible to your destination.

• If you take public transportation, get off the train or bus when you are a stop away.

• Take the stairs instead of the elevator. If you’re heading for the 20th floor, walk up a few flights and then catch the elevator.

• Recruit a partner for after-lunch walks.

• Go for a 30-minute walk every day, or two 15-minute walks: one each morning and one each evening. These changes may mean you have to leave the house 15 or 20 minutes earlier.

The goal is lifelong health, so reset your alarm. On weekends, walk when doing your errands or to other destinations like museums or movies.
