Mr. Lybrate-user, hypothyroidism is not a curable condition. It can only be controlled by regular treatment. Tsh levels must be maintained between 3 to 4 milli units/ml for relief from all symptoms including weight gain. Vit d supplements can help correct that deficiency. But for hypothyroidism treatment has to be for lifetime. Thanks.

Good Morning, I am Rakesh Dubey 51 Yrs/6 ft2 In. 97 Kg I regularly follow advice's given by Lybrate for weight loss. I tried few doctors also and put my request many times with details of my routine. I have no Known medical history till now. But beside all efforts I could not see any weight loss? I do not know what is use of these advice's? It is a challenge once again to give results and get your services paid, Otherwise I do not see any thing beyond advertisement, advice's and knowledge for weight loss. Hope some doctor /dietitian/any other expert will accept challenge for only 10 Kg weight loss of a healthy, active and disciplined person?

As you are 51 years of age - I will suggest you to Get your blood checked for CBC TSH Fbs Ppbs lipids and follow up with reports and I will suggest you to do suryanamaskar daily as per your capacity for a minimum of six months and few tips on diet say no to maida items like toast, khaari ,naan ,white bread. Can drink tea but without sugar say no to Buffalo milk and can drink cows milk can eat brown bread can eat sprout's can eat green vegetables, can eat chappati ,bajra ka rotla can eat one katori of rice twice a day with dal to avoid farsan food items can eat fruits say no to coconut water.

You change food habites. Avoid too oily end ghee prepretions, strong sugar tea or coffi, sweets, cold drinks, fast, junck, spacy foods. Do arobic excersices, yoga, walking will help you. Take 1/2spoon green tea 30 minuties before lunch end dinner. Your metabolism will increases.

Hello you need to understand the concept of weight loss, it requires cut down in calories (under the guidance of dietician) along with exercises like brisk walking or cycling or yoga and stretching 5 days a week for at-least 25-30 mins. Include foods like green tea, lemon water, jeera water, salad vegetables like onion, tomato, cucumber, kakri, cabbage and fruits like melon, watermelon, plums. Avoid fried foods, carbonated drinks, sweets and processed foods. Drink plenty of water. Take small and regular meals like 3 main meals and 2 side meals. Take chamomile tea before going to bed. Sleep for 7-9 hours per night. Take low calorie and low sodium and high protein food. Don't take rice at night. Take 1 glass of lukewarm water with 1 tsp of alsi powder in the morning and go for walk. Don’t skip breakfast. You need not do dieting rather select foods in proper way and time them. Thank you.

Lunch ? Salad of raw vegetables such as carrot, beet, cucumber, cabbage, tomatoes. In case you do not digest raw vegetables, either steam or boil them. Whole grain bread or whole wheat chapattis (Indian recipe) and a glass of buttermilk. Let me know your food intake details. The best diet is one which is healthy and well balanced with foods from all the food groups, and one which is varied and that you can stick to weight loss on some diets can be dramatic in the short term, but there's more of a chance of rebound weight gain. Set yourself a realistic target and aim to lose between (0.5-1.0kg) a week I strongly accommodate the patient's own preferences without the patient feeling that they are on a diet not compromising the weight management goals. Don't fall for self dieting or fad diets available online they have harmful effects in the long run, if you lose a lot of weight very quickly, you may not lose as much fat as you would with a more modest rate of weight loss. Instead, you might lose water weight or even lean muscle tissue, since it's hard to burn that many fat calories in a short period. After assessing your personal challenges to weight loss, one can recommend a strategy to gradually change habits and attitudes that have sabotaged your past efforts. Also the overall objective should not be to drastically reduce weight but doing it gradually and help rebuild body tissues and to maintain ideal body weight.

Hello, To reduce belly fat following will be helpful. (1) eat lots of vegetables, fruits as these helps to reduce fat. Eat vegetables like okra, leafy vegetables, celery, cucumber, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower etc and more fruits like whole apple, guava, orange not juice, dab water, watermelon etc (2) avoid sugar, sweetened juice like soft drinks, fruit juice, tea or coffee with sugar etc as the main ingredients are glucose and fructose and these turns into fat and these are the host of metabolic disturbances. Instead of these eat whole fruits, these are healthy and mitigates the negative effect of fructose. (3) eat whole wheat, oats bran, brown bread, brown rice etc than white flour, white rice. (5) eat more good protein for long term weight loss program like fish, lean chicken, egg white, cottage cheese, peanut, soy product etc. (6) avoid fast foods, junk foods, processed foods (7) stay always hydrated with water. Take water 3 lit/day but not during meals. (8) regular exercises like yoga, swimming, skipping, plank, push ups. Sit ups, squats etc at morning or evening (9) stay busy with works not with foods and quality sleep.

Hye, Thanks for the query. Firstly it is important to understand that weight /fat loss involves sensible eating. You have to eat the right foods at the right time. Eat small but frequent meals. Reduce your main meals by 1/4th the amount. Take a glass of lime water 10minutes before meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Lastly be committed. Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing. It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, try to first follow this seemingly simple tips.

Hello lybrate-user, we do not recommend medicines. You can do brisk waik. We can plan your daily diets according to your food habits, lifestyle, blood group & medical history, if any. However you need to follow them to see good results. Include more of fruits, milk & milk products, high- protein foods, less of carbohydrates & fried foods and sweets. Drink 3-4 lts. Of water daily. Eat early & light dinners.

Get t3, t4 tsh done. Take 2 tab medohar vati thrice daily with luke warm water. Join aerobics in evening and follow the diet chart. Diet for weight loss: early morning-lukewarm water with lemon 1 glass tea without sugar + 2 biscuits breakfast-2 hard boiled eggs + 2 slice brown bread or 2 scrambled eggs + 1 slice brown bread+ skimmed milk 1 cup (240 gm) mid-morning-1 banana/1/2 cup melon/20 grapes lunch-brown rice 1 cup (195 gm) + chicken/dal (100 gm) + mixed vegetables 1/2 cup + salad 1 bowl evening-butter milk 1 cup dinner-1 roti + fish/ green leafy vegetables (50 gm) + lentils dal 1/2 cup+ raita 1 small bowl follow up after 20 days. And conitnue jogging or brisk walking.
