Hi Doc, I'm 29 years old and carrying my 2nd baby. I'm at my 13th W. I had my NT scan and double marker test done. My scan was all normal but my baby blood test shows that my baby's down syndrome risk level is 1:654, were my doc says i'm at intermediate risk, which is keeping me worried. However my first pregnancy was all normal, do not have genetic history in my family. I need a second opinion. Kindly help me.

As the age advances the risk for down syndrome increases. Since you have done screening test you can just follow up with subsequent scans. If screening tests are normal then no need to worry.

General Surgeon, Ghaziabad
Play video

Dear Lybrate users, very good evening to all of you, myself Dr Apoorv Goyal I am a laparoscopic and General Surgeon practising in Ghaziabad for last 5 years and I routinely doing all laparoscopic procedures and the surgical procedures. And I am here to guide you through laparoscopic surgeries and tell you about its various advantages. Laparoscopic surgery was introduced in India in 1990 and since then it has evolved in a big way, now with the recent technologies and advances, we are able to perform laparoscopic procedures for almost 80% of surgical cases. Many cases like gall bladder stone, hernia, appendix, hysterectomy, and other pelvic surgeries can be done through laparoscopic way and if we talk about the principal of laparoscopic surgeries. Then I would like to tell you that, we use a high definition camera system, high definition monitors and specialised instruments through which the surgery is performed and we use very small in incisions and scarves so that the trauma is minimised. Now, if I would tell you about the advantages of laparoscopic surgery, then the first thing is there, the minimum scar and minimum trauma to the body, then most of the recovery or postoperative period is painless, it is eventful, it is very smooth. The patient usually returns to their routine work early and they are quite happy and satisfied after laparoscopic procedures. Many common diseases like if I already told you about gallbladder stone, hernia, appendix, and hysterectomy many things can be done laparoscopically and even with the techniques and advancement in technology, which we are having now. We can even perform like Complex gastrointestinal surgeries, hepatobiliary surgeries and even cancer surgeries through this minimally invasive technique or laparoscopy. If we compare the cost of the surgery, then there is not much difference in the cost of the surgery because now the system is advanced and it is easily available so there is not much difference in the cost and it is easily available and everywhere. Myself I am routinely performing basic and advanced laparoscopic surgeries and I am routinely doing this, all this gallbladder stone, hernia, appendix, hysterectomy and other advanced gastrointestinal surgeries. If you wish to consult me for the same then you can visit my profile on lybrate.com or you can visit my clinic which is in Ghaziabad, Patel Nagar 2nd, opposite DDA market.

Thank you very much.

My girlfriend is 19 and i am 20, had unprotected intercourse two days ago, I'm not very sure if I ejaculated completely inside her. What are the chances of pregnancy? And in case how can she avoid pregnancy? Her periods are due in 9-10 days roughly.

Agr koi ladki sex karte time pregnant ho jaye to, bina abortion kiye, kuch medicine aap prescribed kar sakte hai kya aur 24 hours ke baad kuch medicine kha ke kuch kiya ja sakta hai kya.

Market me hormones ki bahot davayian hoti hai jo emergency me istamal ho sakti hai, magar ek dafe doctor ko dikhake aap ke tabiyat ke liye anukool hai ki nahi check karvana achha. Doosara dhayn rakhe ki agar sex jyada dafe hone wala hai to ye emergency pill nahi, dusari bahot family planning ki methods hai usme se kuch nakki karo.

Hii. I've had sex with my girl. Does girl being a virgin bleeds while having sex?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Actually it depends. Now a days as girls are into more sports activities during school and college times, rupture of hymen during physical exercise is normal. So absence of bleeding in a virgin lady during first time sex is a common thing.

Personal hygiene and your baby hygiene is utmost importance. Why not to bath that to be for a week. It's not related with milk but serious skin infection can happen.

Thank you for your question I am assuming that her period was due on the 16th may which she has now missed. You can do a urine pregnancy test now and if it is positive please see your local gynaecologist for a check up and basic investigations. Generally I recommend a pregnancy test if the period is seven days overdue. It should ideally be done with an early morning sample of urine as this is the most concentrated sample of the day. Best wishes.

For anemia, you need blood test to detect the cause of anemia and then supplementation. For period problems, please check hormone levels and USG and then consult gynecologist
