it should not be the cause, take tab albendazole at night, 1tab after 72 hrs, it may relieve you. at the age of 56 year, knee replacement should be avoided, can you send me your knee x ray so that i can advise you better. take tab glucosamine and diacerin 1 tab bd each for at least 1 month. thanks

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Hello. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight, avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). (Excessive sitting or standing is to be avoided as well don’t carry much weight on shoulders). Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Begin focusing each body part and relaxing it, then moving on. Keep the mind focused on relaxation, the breath should be normal. Relax the whole body. Management: -Stretching or activities that place additional strain on the back are discouraged. -Sleeping with a pillow between the knees while lying on one side may increase comfort. -Lying on your back with a pillow under your knees would also relieves pain and no pillow under your head. -Some people seem to benefit from the use of ice or heat. Take care, do not use a heating pad on ‘high’ or place ice directly on the skin. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 - take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's Topi-Arnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day. Get back to me thereafter.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back / leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain.

It may be due to obesity but not always. Visit to doctor and consult about that. Avoid oily foods, tea, coffee, chocolates, do exercises regularly.

Dear lybrate-user, hello, can you relate the onset of your pain to a certain activity or posture at work? the most common causes of backache at your age are either prolapsed intervertebral disc or lumbosacral strain. You must sleep on a firm mattress and use commode. Do hot fomentation and apply a local gel twice a day. And wear a ls belt. Take some pain killer for 1 week or so. And have physiotherapy for 7-10 days. Once your pain is controlled. Learn and do exercises regularly. Take care.

Do hot fomentation take rest avoid bending forward and lifting weight you can take simple antiinflammatory medicine if pain is severe. If pain doesn't subside, pls visit orthopedic Surgeon.

* first correct your sitting posture. Do not bend your lower back. You can use lumber belt for support. * do regular back strength exercises. Move your clockwise and anticlock wise. * do not sleep on very soft bed, sleep on slight hard cotton mattress. * do tadasana and bhjangasana for back strengthening. If you can not understand these asans you can consult me. * take calcium rich diet and calcium and vitamin d supplements regularly. *do not take any heavy weight or heavy work. * if you are over weight then follow a good and effective diet plan to loose some kilos of weight. You can consult me to get a diet chart. * you can take guggalu tablets of himalaya for fast relief.

Due to pott spine my D8-D9 got infected so I have done spine fusion surgery and it was done 6 months ago. So have two question. 1) can I remove spine instruments that was placed in my spine and if not there will be any side effects from this? 2) please suggest me precautions.

Firstly you need to complete the akt that has been started, religiously following the schedule. Secondly, the implants can be removed once your spine has fused compeletely and it can be confirmed on xrays and if you so wish but really there is no need to remove them and they can remain lifelong. Thirdly regarding your concern for precautions to be taken are: eat high proteinaceous diet of pulses, non veg food and lots of milk, avoid heavy duty ctivities like sports or lifting heavy weights etc. And remember to visit your surgeon regularly for follow up. I am Sharath, im working in Oman I have lower back pain from past 3years and I have done treatment in ayurveda, but its not completely gone. Now from past 7months im having worse pain in upper back but not in spine, either side of spine especially when I lean in bed for long in early morning.

The cause of such pain in para spine region is myalgia only. It could be due to your digestion problems too. Aam - the accumulated mucus in intestines and vitiation of'apaan vayu' are responsible for such pains. I assume that there no infection in urine or burning micturition. You simply need some herbal decoctions if you can arrange there. One or two simple ayurveda oils to be massaged by heating a bit and followed by hot water bath. Keeping gut clean by herbal intestinal cleansers once at night. If relief is not felt in two weeks, some medicines like'commiphora wightii' resin based formula may be useful. Quality and procedure should be very correct for easy and effective benefit.
