Mouth ulcer coming again and again why? Generally single ulcer heal in 8-9 days after that another ulcer comes.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Mouth ulcer coming again and again why? Generally single ulcer heal in 8-9 days after that another ulcer comes.
If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

Some bad smell is coming from mouth and some time blood also. Please suggest me what need to be done.

MBA (Healthcare), BDS
Dentist, Chennai
Bad odour or smell is due to the plaque and calculus present in the teeth near the gums, hence you need for full mouth teeth cleaning i.e scaling. Bleeding is due to the gum inflammation beacuse of the presence of calculus /tartar present. Once scaling done the problem will get solved for you Thank you.

I have mouth ulcers and it happened very frequently. I have taken folicacid becasole but no work. Advise what I do?

MDS - Oral Medicine and Radiology, BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Hi, folic acid and b complex will help only if vitamin deficiency is the cause. There are other causes of mouth ulcers like stress, constipation, trauma, food allergies, etc. You should visit an oral medicine specialist for complete management. Meanwhile, apply kenacort 0.1% oral gel on the ulcers for relief in burning and pain.

We are suffering from sensitivities since 4 month. Please share your opinion how can I relief?
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning along with desensitizing procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person. Until then apply a desensitizing paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min until you brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight will be better. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

My brother used to brush every day and he had cavity. How to protect from cavity.

BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Brushing technique is very important aspect for the cleaning of teeth. 6- Cavity Having cavities is not a serious problem at all. Cavities which are not too deep can be excavated and be restored by a dental cement. Cavities that are very deep can be cured by root canal treatment followed by crown ( cap ). For better prevention of cavities , 1- Follow proper brushing technique. 2- Brush twice a day 3-clean your teeth immediately every time after you eat food or liquids. - Do forcefull gargles after every meal. 4- Undergo scaling ( cleaning of teeth) at the interval of every 5-6 months. 5- Visit dentist for regular oral cavity check up every 4 months for the early diagnosis and prevention of dental diseases. The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

Dear Lybrate user, the condition of teeth seems to be alarming and demands immediate dentist attention. Pain on eating something sweet and pain on pressing around the decayed tooth indicates advanced damage. Don't worry about the tumor because the pain could just be due to dental infection or pus formation around the decaying tooth. The yellowness is probably due to plaque build up because of poor oral hygiene. See your dentist soon before any further damage ensues. Use a fluoridated toothpaste to brush your teeth twice daily for healthy teeth.

As per your complains and symptoms you may have cavity with pulp infection. Go for proper investigation to rule out the cause of pain. If cavity it can be treated according to your pulp condition ie. Either by filling up or rct.

My son 6 years old got cavity in left and right. I consulted a dentist. He advised me to go for root canal. Is it right?
The dentist advised you right. As the permanent teeth below erupt at 10 to 12 years of age. And if we remove the tooth before age. The teeth below (permanent tooth) might not erupt straight. In allignment with other teeth.
