I also feel that I have been suffering from piles for last few months. I have noticed symptoms and verified that it's a piles. I haven't gone to any doctor yet as I am unaware to which doctors I should consult. I have taken some homeopathic medicine for few weeks but now I have stopped. I want you to please advise me whether to whom I should consult. Also how much will it cost for treatment and how long will it take to get well.

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
Piles are painful, swollen veins in the lower portion of the rectum or anus. This condition is very common, especially during pregnancy and after childbirth. Piles results from increased pressure in the veins of the anus. The pressure causes the veins to bulge and expand, making them painful, especially while sitting. The most common cause is straining during bowel movements. Hemorrhoids may results from constipation, sitting for long periods of time, and anal infections. In some cases they may be caused by other disease such as liver cirrhosis. Classification Piles are classified mainly in to: Internal piles – occur just inside the anus, at the beginning of the rectum. External piles – occur at the anal opening and may hang outside the anus. Causes of piles Repeated pressure on the anal or rectal veins, which causes them to stretch. Risk factors involved A diet lacks fiberProlonged sitting or standingOverweight peoplePregnancyChronic constipationChronic diarrhoeaLoss of muscle tone in older adultsRectal surgery or episiotomyLiver diseaseAnal intercourseColon cancer  Sign and symptoms Although piles may be asymptomatic, they characteristically cause painless, intermittent bleeding, which occurs on defecation. Bright red blood appears on stool. These first degree piles may itch because of poor anal hygiene. When second degree piles prolapse, they are usually painless and spontaneously return to the anal canal following defecation. Third degree piles cause constant discomfort and propalse in response to any increase in intra-abdominal pressure. They must be manually reduced. Thrombosis of external piles produces sudden rectal pain and a subcutaneous, large, firm lump that the patient can feel. If piles cause severe or recurrent bleeding, they may lead to secondary anemia with significant pallor, fatigue, and weakness; however, such systemic complications are rare. Diagnosis of piles Diagnosis mainly include physical examination which confirm external piles. Proctoscopy is mainly done in case of suspected internal piles and rectal polyps. Homeopathic treatment of piles Homeopathy is one of the most popular holistic systems of medicine. The selection of remedy is based upon the theory of individualization and symptoms similarity by using holistic approach. This is the only way through which a state of complete health can be regained by removing all the sign and symptoms from which the patient is suffering. The aim of homeopathy is not only to treat piles but to address its underlying cause and individual susceptibility. As far as therapeutic medication is concerned, several remedies are available to treat piles that can be selected on the basis of cause, sensations and modalities of the complaints.  For individualized remedy selection and treatment, the patient should consult a qualified homeopathic doctor in person.

Bloody stool, frequent urge for stool but less volume is evacuated each time. 2 days duration. Has previous history of bloody stool.

BHMS, CGO
Homeopath, Pune
Blood in the stool can be frightening, whether you discover it while wiping after a bowel movement or from a test ordered by your health care provider. While blood in stool can signal a serious problem, it doesn't always. Here's what you need to know about the possible causes of bloody stools and what you -- and your doctor -- should do if you discover a problem. Causes of blood in stool blood in the stool means there is bleeding somewhere in your digestive tract. Sometimes the amount of blood is so small that it can only be detected by a fecal occult test (which checks for hidden blood in the stool). At other times it may visible on toilet tissue or in the toilet after a bowel movement as bright red blood. Bleeding that happens higher up in the digestive tract may make stool appear black and tarry. Possible causes of blood in stool include: diverticular disease. Diverticula are small pouches that project from the colon wall. Usually diverticula don't cause problems, but sometimes they can bleed or become infected. Anal fissure. A small cut or tear in the tissue lining the anus similar to the cracks that occur in chapped lips or a paper cut. Fissures are often caused by passing a large, hard stool and can be painful. Colitis. Inflammation of the colon. Among the more common causes are infections or inflammatory bowel disease. Angiodysplasia. A condition in which fragile, abnormal blood vessels lead to bleeding. Peptic ulcers. An open sore in the lining of the stomach or duodenum, the upper end of the small intestine. Many peptic ulcers are caused by infection with a bacterium called helicobacter pylori (h. Pylori). Long-term use or high doses of anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen can also cause ulcers. Polyps or cancer. Polyps are benign growths that can grow, bleed, and become cancerous. Colorectal cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the u. S. It often causes bleeding that is not noticeable with the naked eye. Esophageal problems. Varicose veins of the esophagus or tears in the esophagus can lead to severe blood loss. Blood in stool diagnosis it is important to have a doctor evaluate any bleeding in the stool. Any details you can give about the bleeding will help your doctor locate the site of bleeding. For example, a black, tarry stool is likely an ulcer or other problem in the upper part of the digestive tract. Bright red blood or maroon-colored stools usually indicate a problem in the lower part of the digestive tract such as hemorrhoids or diverticulitis. After getting a medical history and doing a physical exam, the health care provider may order tests to determine the cause of bleeding. Tests may include: nasogastric lavage. A test that may tell your doctor whether bleeding is in the upper or lower digestive tract. The procedure involves removing the contents of the stomach through a tube inserted into the stomach through the nose. If the stomach does not contain evidence of blood, the bleeding may have stopped or is more likely in the lower digestive tract. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (egd). A procedure that involves inserting an endoscope, or flexible tube with a small camera on the end, through the mouth and down the esophagus to the stomach and duodenum. The doctor can use this to look for the source of bleeding. Endoscopy can also be used to collect small tissue samples for examination under a microscope (biopsy). Colonoscopy. A procedure similar to an egd except that the scope is inserted through the rectum to view the colon. As with an egd, colonoscopy can be used to collect tissue samples to biopsy. Enteroscopy. A procedure similar to egd and colonoscopy used to examine the small intestine. In some cases this involves swallowing a capsule with a tiny camera inside that transmits images to video monitor as it passes through the digestive tract. Barium x-ray. A procedure that uses a contrast material called barium to make the digestive tract show up on an x-ray. The barium may either be swallowed or inserted into the rectum. Radionuclide scanning. A procedure that involves injecting small amounts of radioactive material into a vein and then using a special camera to see images of blood flow in the digestive tract to detect where bleeding is happening. Angiography. A procedure that involves injecting a special dye into a vein that makes blood vessels visible on an x-ray or computerized tomography (ct) scan. The procedure detects bleeding as dye leaks out of blood vessels at the bleeding site. Laparotomy. A surgical procedure in which the doctor opens and examines the abdomen. This may be necessary if other tests fail to find the cause of bleeding. Health care providers also order lab tests when there is blood in stools. These tests may look for clotting problems, anemia, and the presence of h. Pylori infection. Associated symptoms a person with blood in the stool may be unaware of bleeding and might have reported no symptoms. On the other hand, they may also have abdominal pain, vomiting, weakness, difficulty breathing, diarrhea, palpitations, fainting, and weight loss depending on the cause, location, length, and severity of the bleeding. Depending on the cause, however, treatment may involve simple things you can do on your own. These including eating a high-fiber diet to relieve constipation that can cause and aggravate hemorrhoids and anal fissures, and sitting in warm or hot baths to relieve fissures.

Lifestyle Changes to Improve Libido

Lifestyle Changes to Improve Libido

Libido or sex drive means the desire to have sex; there are a number of reasons that can lead to low libido. There are a number of methods by which you can increase your libido, some of them are:

  1. Exercise: Exercise is one of your major weapons against low libido; make sure to exercise on a regular basis as it helps in improving circulation in the body. Do various exercises such as squats and push-ups to improve your strength and endurance. It is known to increase production of sex hormones and endorphins in the body.
  2. Limit Smoking: Smoking cigarettes causes complications in the body as it is known to be a vasoconstrictor. The blood vessels tend to narrow, thus leading to damage in the arteries and veins. The veins of the penis may be damaged leading to sexual problems.
  3. Stress Reduction: You may adopt various techniques such as meditation and yoga to reduce stress levels in the body. Stress raises cortisol levels in the body which can hamper your sex life.
  4. Sleep: You need to sleep adequately and sleep sound as sleeping deficiency has been linked with erectile dysfunction. Sleep also revitalizes your body and releases beneficial hormones in the body.
  5. Restrict Alcohol Consumption: It is important that you restrict alcohol consumption as alcohol in excess may lead to obesity and other related disorders. It may also lead to mental health problems such as anxiety which can impair sexual drive.
  6. Cut Down on Coffee: Coffee is a known vasoconstrictor as it tends to narrow your blood vessels. It limits blood flow, thus may reduce your sex drive. Make sure you limit coffee intake to 1 or 2 cups of coffee to avoid the complications.
  7. Diet: Include plenty of vegetables and fruits in your diet to get the necessary nutrients in your diet. Vegetables such as cabbage and broccoli contain antioxidants that protect your body against free radical damage. Include oily fish such as salmon that is rich in omega 3 fatty acids because they help in improving sexual drive.
