I don't know your past history of seizures but if you have given it regularly for 4 years and no seizure, I think you can slowly reduce the dose and stop it with constant watch for some time.

temp up to 99 degrees is normal for a kid but since the kid is having little bit of fever and associated with gastritis mm at be due to infection by water or by ingestion of food best thing to consult a child specialist.

My daughter is 7 years old. She often gets fever. It starts suddenly, and increases up to 103-104F. She is vaccinated properly .Now we are using homeopathic medicines. It gives better results to her when compared to allopathy. But we are unable to control the temperature. It gradually increases up to 103f and reduces up to 100. 8f at early morning and again raises upto 103 by evenings. This condition remains for at least 3 days .later the temperature goes down to below normal and she becomes very weak .We consulted many doctors. All blood test reports are normal. But there is no improvement . She is studying 2nd STD and she is very active and intelligent too. What do I do for her? How do I know the actual reason behind her health problem? Please suggest me.

Probably your daughter is suffering from repeated viral infections. It is most common type of infection in children. Most common causes are. 1-exposure to cold surroundings. 2-eating or drinking cold items. 3-coming in contact with patients suffering from contagious (spreading) diseases 4-being in crowds 5-physical weakness due to malnutrition (protein, carbohydrate or iron deficiency). Give her high protein diet like daal, eggs, chana, milk etc. Give her green leafy vegetables, jaggery groundnut chikki, dried black grapes, beet root to raise the haemoglobin. 5 pieces of almonds, 2 of walnut and 1anjeer will be very beneficial to her.

All About Growth Hormone Deficiency

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine Specialist
Ask Free Question
Growth hormone or somatropin is responsible for cell growth as well as reproduction. But insufficient somatropin production by the pituitary gland may result in lack in height. It is mostly caused by a serious brain injury, any prevalent medical condition or might occur as a birth defect.

Types
1. Congenital ghd - this form of ghd appears from at the time of birth itself.
2. Acquired ghd- ghd can be acquired during later life as a result of trauma, infection, tumor growth within the brain or radiation therapy.
3. Idiopathic ghd- idiopathic ghd is the third, and comparatively worst kind of ghd since it has no treatment.

Ghd is mostly permanent, but can also be transient. Read on to know how to detect whether you or your child is suffering from growth hormone deficiency (ghd).

Symptoms
Childhood onset
1. Restricted height- compared to other children of your child's age, he/she may be of shorter height, which is a rather conclusive sign to detect somatropin deficiency.
2. Chubby and comparatively younger appearance- your child may have a proportionate body, but if he/she is unnaturally chubby and has a baby-face compared to other children, he/she may be suffering from ghd.
3. Late puberty- your child's puberty maybe later than usual or even not appear at all, depending upon the gravity of the ghd.
4. Hypoglycemia and exaggerated jaundice- low blood sugar is amongst the most primary manifestations of ghd, along with extended duration of jaundice.
5. Micro-penis- micro penis condition is one of the incident signs of ghd, which later escalates to growth deficit as the infant gets older.

Adult onset
1. Fatigue- adults with ghd may experience extreme tiredness throughout the day, with reduced muscle strength.
2. Osteoporosis- osteoporosis, along with bodily deformities, is a common sign in adults with ghd.
3. Lipid abnormalities- a test of your lipid profile may reveal abnormalities in ldl cholesterol, insulin resistance, and impaired cardiac functions.

Tests to determine ghd
1. Physical test- a chart is drawn to determine the proportion of height and weight with respect to your age to detect anomalies.
2. Hand x-ray- a hand x-ray can determine whether the age of bones are at par with your age.
3. Mri-mri scan can determine the health of your brain and pituitary gland.
4. Test for other hormones- growth hormone may not be solely responsible for your health condition, so it is important to determine if other hormone levels are all normal.

Treatment
1. Hormone supplements- hormone supplements like corticosteroids (hydrocortisone or prednisone), levothyroxine (levoxyl, synthroid, etc), and others work to replenish the deficiency of pituitary hormones.
2. Growth hormone injection- gh is injected beneath your skin, to cure gdh. This is a long-term treatment and requires constant monitoring.

This change in diet may not be significant. Children are moody also. He can eat any thing. Wheat bread is also ok. But try to add green leafy vegetables to his diet. He should also be encouraged to eat seasonal fruits and seasonal vegetables. This will improve his body metabolism and increase appetite. He should also be given pulses. If he takes non-veg, fish and egg may be added. Breast feeds can be continued.

Is the baby on bottle feeding. Then stop bottle feeding. You can give breast milk only. If you need to give other milk give it with spoon. Avoid bottle and nipple feeding. Next what medicine is being given. You need to add boiled water ( can be sweetened by adding raisins ) if fed on artificial milk. It has to be given by spoon and not bottle. Also need to screen for hypothyroidism. If you prefer private chat you can do it via this site. Happy parenting, regards.

Thank you for your query. It is very common for infants of this age to throw up the excess milk, if any. This appears curdled as it has been acted upon by the gastric juices. In case the weight of your son is not increasing then we shall like to intervene for this regurgitation.

Hi Loose motions are not uncommon during teething. So you might not need to give medicine just yet. Keep your baby well hydrated, and keep observing the number of loose motions. I hope you are breastfeeding your baby.

What You Need to Know About Epilepsy And Seizures in Children!

How to care for your child with paediatric epilepsy?

Epilepsy is defined as a neurological disorder, which affects people of all age groups. However, the cases of seizures are found more in young children (likely to occur in as many as 4% of children) than in adults. It is still not known as to why a developing brain is more prone to seizures than a mature brain. A child is said to be suffering from epilepsy when they occur frequently.

As parents your responsibilities are compounded if your child has epilepsy. You not only have to pay heed towards the normal concerns of his/her upbringing but also have to look into your child's emotional aspects, while dealing with the disorder in your day to day life.

You can help your child deal with the condition in the following ways:

1. It is quite likely that your child may feel resentful and develop emotional issues, such as depression or low self-esteem. Help your child cultivates positive attitude towards life and his/her disease.

2. Try to make your child come to terms with reality by helping him/her to understand that even though he/she may be different, he/she shouldn't look upon the condition as something that is abnormal. It is best to help your child concentrate on his/her strengths at such times.

3. Help your child participate in activities of his/her choice to instill positivity in life.

4. Make sure your other children understand their sibling's ailment and if he/she feels neglected try and spend more time with him/her. If need be, seek family counselling to make everyone understand how to deal with your child's illness.

5. Learn about your child's medication schedule thoroughly and also find out what he/she needs to do in case a dose of medication is missed.

6. Develop an environment where he/she feels comfortable and can easily share a concern or anxieties.
