Hello lybrate-user, it is sinusitis. Take steam inhalation which reduce congestion in sinus and relieve headache. You can take it 2-3 times in a day avoid cold food, cold drinks. Take turmeric (haldi) with warm milk and/or ginger with tea. These are natural antibiotics and very helpful in cold-coryza and sinusitis.

I heard that if I go for endoscopic sinus surgery it changes my nose shape. Please advice

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, endoscopic sinus surgery, also known as sinoscopy, is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to remove blockages in the sinuses for recurring sinus infections. During the procedure, a thin lighted tube with a camera on the end is inserted into the nose to let the doctor visually examine the area. Tiny surgical instruments are then inserted to remove the obstructive tissues. Endoscopic sinus surgery does not require any incision, as the whole procedure is performed through the nostrils and do not change shape of your nose. Thanks.

Can tuberculosis of the lymph node (supraclavicular involved) can spread to lungs as well? Also my chest x-ray indicates normal condition of the lungs. But tb of lymph nodes as I've read indicates its infection primarily somewhere else (lungs, pancreas, spleen). Does it mean that pancreas or spleen may be involved?

MD - Radiation Oncology, MBBS, DNB (Radiotherapy)
Oncologist, Howrah
Tb lymph node may occur solely in the lymph node or it may occur with primary focus somewhere else like in lung. If you have supraclavicular lymph node tb, then it is better to exclude any lung focus by a hrct thorax.

I am having chronic cough since last ten days and it is getting into severe congestion. I have tried medicines prescribed by doctor, but m not getting well.

BHMS
Homeopath, Raebareli
Please take Bryonia 200 – once daily for next 3-4 days. Drink plenty of warm fluids. Drinking warm fluids helps to loosen the secretions in your sinuses so that your mucus flows more freely, making you feel better faster. Studies show that drinking warm fluids relieves cold symptoms such as runny nose, cough, sneezing, sore throat, and fatigue.

I am having TB. Please advice what should I avoid & include in my diet.

DNB (Respiratory Diseases), MD - Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases / Pulmonary Medicine, Diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases (DTCD)
Allergist/Immunologist,
Healthy balanced diet is all that is required. More important is to take your medicines without break as per doctors advise. Include protein rich food like egg, fish meat. Pulses are very good, peanuts are full of protein. Milk 2 to 3 glass per day is also good. Take fruits and vegetables for vitamins, there is nothing to avoid unless you are a diabetic, then you should avoid starchy food and control your diabete well. With regular medications you will regain all youe health.
