Available in multiple flavours, the nylon (or multifilament) floss is composed of many strands of nylon, but it has a tendency of getting torn between teeth with tight contact points. Although if used properly, it works excellently while removing plaque and debris.

Suddenly I am able to see my front two teeth a lot even though they are not outside.

BDS
Dentist,
Hi lybrate-user, from what you have mentioned above it seems that your front teeth are getting proclined or moving forward which as well might be the reason that you are not able to close your mouth properly. In that case braces would be the best option to correct the same. You need to consult a dentist and get the required treatment planned out.

On teeth yellowish layer is form after proper brushing it will not clean. What should do for this problem ?is not it have any solution?

Yellow layer on tooth surface could be because of deposits on your teeth. You need to visit the dentist and get a deep scaling and polishing done. Brush twice a day. Maintain proper brushing technique. Rinse after every meal. Floss regularly.

I have pain in teeth a lot of days and consult to two doctors but no relief what should I do?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Calicut
Dear You hv already seen two doctors and they might hv given you some antibiotics and painkillers. But the main thing is you need to do treatment for the ailing tooth. Its either rct or extraction. If its not tooth related you need to go for higher investigations.

I'am suffering from my mouth problems, for 2 months one time in my mouth small scratches are coming those are coming with low vitamin supplying at that time while eating anything i'am feeling so painful. So how can I control this ever.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

Im paining from middle of the front teeth what can I do if there is any solution.

Dental pain is not something you can treat by your own. Sometimes when pain subsided it may recur with more severity. You please visit a dentist, get a small xray done for concerned tooth and then treatment accordingly. THANK YOU.

My 3 teeth are filled. I had irregular and protruded teeth. Doctor suggested to put stirrups. I put stirrups for 2 years (8th std to 10th std). 95% my teeth are ok. Now when I'm 20 years old, wisdom teeth started growing. I felt very small pain for 2 days. Now I'm 22 years old. Wisdom teeth don't reached its full stage. Now my lower teeth became irregular. Is there any treatment to make my teeth nice. I have seen some before and after photos in front of dental clinic. Is it true? How much cost for such treatment. please advice me.

Dentist, Gorakhpur
lybrate-user firstly you need to understand your situation. Whether you are suffering from pain due to wisdom tooth eruption or your concern is irregular tooth arch. I ll suggest you to go for an OPG and let your dentist decide the space available for arch realignment. If your wisdom tooth is not erupted properly at its position then you must get it extracted by your dentist. After that you might need an orthodontic treatment for your irregular teeth. U need not worry at all coz the well planned treatment will definitely benefit u. About the cost it varies if its just extraction and realignment via removable appliance it wil not cost much but if you need a fix orthodontic treatment, it might be costly.

Pregnancy and Oral Health

Pregnancy and Oral Health

Pregnancy brings with it a whole lot of body system changes and oral health is no exception. Some simple careful planning, however, can help avoid a lot of oral health complications associated with pregnancy. The hormonal changes during pregnancy have a direct effect on the oral health and has higher incidence of decay, pregnancy gingivitis, and pregnancy tumors. Additionally, morning sickness affects the regular oral care, leading to more plaque and decay.

Before pregnancy: If you are planning to get pregnant, then a dental visit can help you get a thorough check-up ahead of the pregnancy. A routine cleaning and check for cavities should be sufficient to avoid any urgent treatment need during the period of pregnancy.

During pregnancy: If you were not able to do your pre-pregnancy dental visit, inform the dentists about pregnancy as early as possible. All elective procedures can be done after the delivery. Only really essential treatment that cannot wait until the delivery should be undertaken during pregnancy, most safe if done during the 4th to 6th months.

Listed below are some points to consider as far as oral/dental health is considered during pregnancy:

  1. Scaling and polishing can be done as usual
  2. Inform the dentist about all the medications that you are advised by your gynecologist
  3. Periodic check-up once in 3 months to reduce severity of gum disease and decay
  4. Good oral hygiene measures including brushing, flossing, and rinsing
  5. Try a bland toothpaste if morning sickness is very severe
  6. Eat a healthy, balanced diet. Tooth formation happens in the third month and requires diet rich in calcium and minerals
  7. Avoid sweet snacks which can lead to greater plaque formation

The hormone changes combined with oral infection (could be gum disease or tooth decay) can lead to severe effects on the developing baby. It is extremely important to avoid dental infections, as these may necessitate antibiotics, require x-rays and even require treatment like root canal and/or extraction, all of which are best avoided until after the baby is delivered. It is considered safe for dental procedures to be done during the 4th to 6th month. Though now there are safer measures to do x-rays and dental procedures, they are best avoided, unless in case of emergency. This emergency situation can be avoided by better planning and some minimal care. Severe gum disease could also lead to premature or low birth weight of the baby. So plaque buildup should be avoided which leads to both decay and gum disease.

After delivery: After the delivery of the baby, please visit your dentist to ensure that there is no emergent dental condition requiring attention. Resume your regular dental care after delivery.

A cup of tea a day, keeps the dentist away! A single cup of tea contains high amounts of flouride and flavonoids which prevent harmful bacteria from sticking to the teeth thereby keeping the teeth and gums healthy.

How to whiten teeth? My teeth are yellowish please suggest me remedies. Thank you.

BDS
Dentist, Kolar
Naturally our teeth colour ranges from pearly white to pale yellow so everyone cannot hv white teeth. Get scalling n polishing done by dentist. If you r not happy with your teeth shade later, you can get bleaching done by dentist which'll lighten your teeth by 2-3 shades. Alternatively you can use a teeth whitening toothpaste such as snowdent. Avoid heavily coloured foods, tea n coffee, cool drinks, tobacco products as they stain teeth.
