I am suffering from thyroid and thats why my weight is also high what can I do for loose my weight.
Hypothyroidism is the main reason why the weight is increasing. If tsh levels are brought to normal, preferably between 3 to 4 milli units/ ml, then efforts to reduce weight will be fruitful. So firdt thing is to control hypothyroidism, bring tsh levels down to 3 to 4 milli units/ml, take a restricted diet, that gives exact calories based on ideal body weight, (47 kgs), daily exercise of at least 1 hour is needed.

Your blood sugar levels clearly show that you have developed t2dm, at a much earlier age. It would be better if you start treatment with insulin for first few months and control it better, later you can be shifted on to oral anti diabetics. The reason I am saying this is the glucotoxicity that harms the beta cells of pancreas can be better controlled and there is good possibility that beta cell activity revives rapidly with this treatment. Later insulin can be withdrawn and oral drugs can be substituted. Because of your younger age you have to be very careful in getting the sugar levels in good control. For any help you are welcome to ask me.

it is essential to the blood sugar near to normal levels, that is fasting around 100 mg and pp 150 to 160 mg, hba1c% <7. If this is achieved, then you will feel much healthier and strong. There is no separate drug required for tightening the muscles. You need to do some muscle strengthening exercise apart from walking at least 2 to 3 times a week, that will help. Increase your protein intake. Star regular jogging for 5 km or so at least 2- 3 times a week. Send all details as mentioned above plus present drugs being taken with dosage, diet pattern and extent of exercise. Then I will be able to guide.

Well, one simple thing to do is have methi water in the morning. Soak 1 tsp of methi seeds in a glass of water and next day strain the seeds and have water only, this helps to control sugar. Besides to keep glycosylated hb under control have food items like brown rice, whole grains, avoid refined flour etc. Yes peanuts can be had in moderation.

Hi. Thyroid conditions may cause generalised itching on your skin. Apply good moisturisers on your skin after bath. You may use coconut oil. Use mild cleansing lotion and avoid soap. Get your thyroid profile repeated and see of your dose needs any adjustment. Avoid direct contact of woolen clothing on your skin, wear cotton clothing underneath.

There are definite side effects of hyperlipidemic medicines in allopathy. If you want '0' side effects, you need to resort to Ayurveda/ herbals. However depending upon other related issues of your health, a plan has to be made to integrate medicines initially. Herbs also keep side effects of allopathy at bay without counteracting.

I am 41 years old I have heavy diabetic for the past 5 years. And I have taking insulin for past 4 years. But I cant reduce the insulin level. What should I do for the same ?

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
For a diabetic it is best advised to have a diet planned as per the sugar levels, lifestyle and history. Though you can follow some guidelines - have small frequent meals. Do not fast for more than 2-3 hours. Avoid a very heavy meal at one time. Avoid fruit juices, aerated drinks or sugarcane juice, honey, jaggery or sugar. Fruits should be had as a mid meal. Avoid junk foods. Exercise and stay active. Do not attempt to try out too many remedies as you could go into hypoglycaemia. Sleep well. It's all a matter of discipline.

Hi, I am a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator and a doctor (general physician) who will help you in your diabetes problem. Do let me know your hba1c value? also you need to provide me your daily food intake details. There are many lifestyle and dietary guidelines that can be followed: take high fiber prescribed diet which includes soluble fibre like apple, isabgol etc. Get more physical activity by prescription from a registered dietitian eat a balanced diet which includes whole grains and excludes all refined products like maida as prescribed by a registered dietitian, if you're overweight, diabetes prevention may hinge on weight loss. Every pound you lose can improve your health, and you may be surprised by how much. Participants in one large study who lost a modest amount of weight around 7 percent of initial body weight and exercised regularly reduced the risk of developing diabetes by almost 60 percent. I being a registered dietitian and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their diabetes problem. I will also prescribe medicines that will speed up the time to achieve your weight management goals.

Insulin dependent since 2000 till now facing same sugar problem. Hence suggestion required please.
To achieve better sugar control you have to do self monitoring of blood glucose and set up a system of sending sms message to your doctor on daily basis and decide on a target fasting / pp blood sugarleve and up titrate insulin dosage every alternate day by 2 units till target level is reached. Then the same can be continued.

Hello, It would have been better if actual blood glucose levels were mentioned similarly HbA1c% value. If one has diabetes, then a very limited quantity of dry fruits can be consumed. Manuka (resin) contains good amount of sugar. Thanks.

Hi Your blood sugars are high. Healthy lifestyle changes will be helpful for you like: 1. Eat small meals every 2 - 3 hrs. 2. Have increased amounts of proteins, as they help in weight loss and do not increase blood sugar. 3. Avoid carbohydrates like rice, pasta, breads, biscuits, sugar, sweetened beverages, alcohol, butter especially for dinner. 4.Eat plenty of fresh vegetables and green leafy vegetables, do not use mayonnaise for your salad dressing instead use olive oil or flax seed oil. 5. Make sure you exercise atleast for 30 min a day on atleast 5 days a week. 6. If your a non vegetarian have white meat (fish, chicken) twice a week, preferably steamed or boiled. Avoid deep fried food. You can have 2 egg whites per day, preferably for breakfast. 7. Do not take fruits at bedtime or with your major meals. Always snack your fruit. 8. Avoid stress as it only worsens all your problems.
