Risks of Gum Disease :
1. Heart Disease
There are several theories that exist that attempt to explain the link between periodontal disease and heart disease. One theory suggests that oral bacteria can affect the heart when they enter the blood stream, attaching to fatty plaques in the arteries and contributing to clot formation. Coronary artery disease is caused by the thickening of the walls of the coronary arteries due to the buildup of fatty acids. Blood clots obstruct the normal flow of blood and lead to neglecting the heart of necessary amounts of nutrients and oxygen required to function properly. This can eventually lead to heart attacks.
Another theory is that the inflammation caused by periodontal disease increases plaque buildup, which may be a contributor to swelling of the arteries. Research shows that people with periodontal disease are almost two times as likely to suffer from coronary artery disease as those without the condition.
2. Stroke
There are other studies that link a relationship between gum disease and stroke.
3. Pre-Term Pregnancy
According to the American Academy of Periodontology, pregnant women who have periodontal disease may be seven times more likely to have a baby that is born prematurely and too small.

Ulcers may have diff reasons for occurrence. They may be due to over stress, sleeplessness, change in food habits, due to some medications etc. Kindly take more fruits intake. Avoid spicy food along with that take vitamin tabs for a week. One tab for a day will b sufficient. Use ornigreat mouth gel or dento gel for applying over the ulcers. Visit your near by dentist to take advice.

I am 45 year male. No diabetes. Only taking bp tablets telsar a. I having very bad smell in mouth from a year. Doing two times brushing, tried also all mouth wash. Problem not solved. Please help.

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Are you suffering from dry mouth? the bpmedication could alter the salivary flow so increasing halitosis or bad smell. Other cause could be due to gastro intestina/ acidity. Avoid fried, fatty, oily, cheesy, buttery, spicy foods. Take lot of fluids, water, coconut water, limewater, fresh fruit juices, buttermilk, avoid soda and carbonated drinks. Avoid alcohol and tobacco in all forms. Brush teeth with fluoride tooth paste, use mouthwashes, use dental floss regularly. Get your teeth cleaned and polished by dentist once in 3 months.

I have something wrong in tongue from inside and I have indigestion problem I am alwAys feel sick and sleepiness.

I have something wrong in tongue from inside and I have indigestion problem I am alwAys feel sick and sleepiness.
Hello lybrate-user, if you are feeling sick and sleepy for a long time you should get your blood sugar level checked both fasting and post prandial (after meal). Juvenile diabetes is very common at your age. You can also check HbAc (glycated hamoglobin level) which determines since when is your blood glucoae level altered. About your tongue, it can be fungal infection (which are common in diabetic individual) and can be easily treated by few antifungal medication. As far as indigestion is concerned change your lifestyle have food on time, avoid junk foods. Avoid long gaps between the meals. Hope this is helpful.

I have fluorosis marks on teeth. Planning to go for crowns on front two upper teeth And composite veeners for remaining. Advise if its good or not.

MBA (Healthcare), BDS
Dentist, Chennai
Composite veeners wil get discolor after some years and it will break if you bite hard substances with front teeth hence better go for zirconia or all ceramic crowns itself. If it is a small fluorosis marking you can go for composite veenering ceramic crowns wont get stains and it will be like that itself as like the first without any discoloration after some years.

Hello Friends, I am Dr Saurabh Gogri and I sit in Hindmatas Milestone Dental clinic. Here I have performed many dental procedures such as Root canal treatment, fillings, scaling, braces, implants, crowns and bridges and many other treatment.

Well the frequently asked questions by the patients is which toothpaste should I use?     For that any Fluoridated Toothpaste can be used. Basically it contains 1bpm of fluoride, any toothpaste. It can be Pepsodant, Colgate, Oral-b, any toothpaste.

The second most frequently asked question asked is how painful will my treatment be?     So actually speaking with the recent advances there is minimal or no pain in any dental procedure with the use of Anaesthesia post root canal and extraction. If there is mild pain that can be controlled with the help of pain killers.

The next question asked is that how may sitting will it take?       Usually root canal treatment is known that it takes 2 to 3 sittings. Nowadays with recent advances techniques, we can complete a root canal in a single sitting which will be of maximum one hour.

Next question is why is the Dental treatment costly?         Actually dental treatment is not costly . A dentist charges according to material he uses. He uses the best material so he charges a bit more. And also the experience matters. With experience the charges may increase. Thank you Friends.

I am 30years old. I have a pain in my teeth. When I eat anything like whether it is cold or hot. Kindly suggest me. I visited 1 dentist he told your teeth is breaking.

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Delhi
Your dentist must be having cavitation due to caries which results in pain on consumption of hot or cold stuffs. Treatment for this kind of problem is generally root canal treatment followed by capping of tooth.

Most people have acidic saliva which makes the teeth more prone to cavities if proper and regular oral care is not taken. Do get your SALIVA TEST done by your dentist during regular check ups.

Bad Breath - 5 Reasons You Might Suffer From It And What Can You Do About It

Bad Breath - 5 Reasons You Might Suffer From It And What Can You Do About It
Bad breath isn't just an indication of what you eat. Apart from being a turn off for people who come in contact with you, it could also hint at health problems.

Here are 5 reasons that cause bad breath and ways to overcome the same.

1) Unhealthy Teeth And Gums - Most of the bad breath and halitosis problems result due to unhealthy teeth and gums. Basically, people who don't take care of their dental hygiene are prone to the problem.
Solution - Clean your teeth and rinse your mouth properly to get rid of the annoying rotten egg stench.

2) Lack Of Hydration - If you are not drinking enough water, you can have bad breath. Saliva washes away smell causing bacteria. But not having enough water will lead to lesser saliva, which will lead to dead and rotting cells that will stink.
Solution - Drink atleast 8-10 glasses of water daily, at regular intervals.

3) Allergies - Nose and asthma related allergies are one of the leading causes of bad breath.
Solution - Make sure that you get rid of the allergies via proper care. Also, hydrate more when you have any allergy, like sinus problems or tonsil infection, it helps in clearing allergies out.

4) Eating the wrong stuff - Garlic, uncooked onion and too many spices can also lead to bad breath.
Solution - Use moderate spices and always rinse your mouth after each meal. Also, avoid foods that are high in sugar as they promote more bacteria.

5) Acid Reflux - If getting gaseous feeling in the pit of your stomach is a common problem for you, then you might have bad breath too. Heartburn, indigestion and acid reflux are common causes of bad breath.
Solution - Avoid foods that can cause a reflux and try light eating. It will take care of other health problems too.

Hello Well loosening of jaw is not a bad sign until and unless it harms your jaw alignment or create pain near ears or during opening and closing mouth. Actually it is Normal. It is a relaxing position of mouth when jaw and teeth are not attached to upper teeth and jaw. If you force to join your jaw with upper one then it will affect the muscles. I hope you are satisfied with this answer Regards

Hiv ke bare details hiv postive insaan ka tooth brush use karne se hiv hota ha kya.
(there is no actual evidence that HIV has been transmitted this way). It is recommended that one does not share the toothbrush or razor of an infected person because blood left on the objects could transmit HIV.
