Hi. Ten days back I had slept in a wrong position and noticed pain in my shoulder joint whenever I lift it at a particular angle. Later I went a tooth extraction where doctor gave me pain killers to relieve tooth pain. With them the shoulder pain also nullified. Recently before 2 days when I stopped my pain killers course I started noticing a pain when performing activities like head bath or wearing shirt. I approached a physiotherapist who diagnosed it as supraspinatus tendonitis. She recommended me for physio therapy for 10 days where daily session cost is quite expensive. I can use my hand normally but the problem arises only some times whenever I make abrupt motion at some particular angle. As the problem now became mild I can not decide whether to continue physio or stop it keeping in mind its expensiveness. The physiotherapist gave me dry needling in my first session and tomorrow is my second of ten sessions. Please answer me whether I can stop in middle? Is it ok to avoid those huge expenses for a mild pain? Will my condition heal naturally?

everyone doesn't have pearl white teeth. your teeth color matches your skin colour. you can go for scaling and polishing followed by bleaching for more whiter teeth. avoid harsh brushing as it will remove your outer white enamel layer exposing inner yellowish dentinal layer.

Dental Implants or Dentures - What is Best Suitable for You?

Tooth loss occurs due to various reasons decay and infection, fracture, accidents, gum disease, to name a few. Tooth loss has a negative impact on various aspects facial appearance, chewing efficiency, and overall nutrition. The attempts to restore the lost tooth have led to various advancements from removable dentures to cast partial dentures to fixed dentures to implants.

Listed below are features (covering advantages and disadvantages) of both dentures (fixed and removable) and implants. While dentures can be complete or partial, implants are more often partial, of course can be used to replace multiple teeth. A detailed discussion with your dentist along with oral and radiographic examination will help in making a decision.

Removable Dentures:

Advantages:

Replaces tooth but more for cosmetic reasons than function.

Poor chewing efficiency.

Useful when multiple teeth are to be replaced, especially when no adjacent teeth are available for support.

If good bone support is not available, retention is an issue.

Not very healthy for the underlying jaw bone and adjacent gums.

Requires daily and routine maintenance.

Fixed Denture(s):

Also called as bridges, as the artificial replaced tooth is a bridge between two natural teeth.

Requires removal of sound tooth structure as abutment (support). This is the major disadvantage with fixed dentures, which promoted further work from the dentists, ending up with discovery of implants.

Promotes tooth decay in the adjacent teeth.

Good support, so retention is not an issue.

Not as harmful to the underlying jaw bone as removable denture.

Requires maintenance but not like the removable denture.

Expensive compared to removable dentures.

Replacing a bridge also means the adjacent healthy teeth are affected.

Implants:

Very good replacement alternative, replaces not just the crown structure but also the root structure.

An excellent option when the jaw bones and gums are extremely in good condition.

Almost natural restoration of both chewing efficiency and facial appearance, the person can eat almost anything.

Not as harmful on the gums like dentures.

Does not cause bone loss like dentures.

Can be used to replace single or multiple teeth, where multiple implants are placed and a bridge is placed over them.

The titanium screws that are used fuse with the jaw bone over a period of time.

The titanium is also biocompatible, thereby reducing chances of allergy.

Implants are expensive, and many insurance companies may not cover them.

If properly fabricated and maintained well, then it can last for decades.

The decision to go for a denture or for an implant should be decided based on a detailed evaluation of overall health and if required radiographic examination. Both dentures and implants have advantages and disadvantages, and the dentist will help make the right choice.

You don't go a day without cleaning your teeth, right? Then why leave the tongue dirty? A dirty tongue equals a dirty breath and development of tongue plaque. Clean your tongue daily with the help of a proper tongue scraper and remove that plaque and freshen your breath.

Hi sensitivity in tooth can be due to some reasons like enamel erosion because of bruxism, hard brushing and after the orthodontic treatment. Use a desensitising toothpaste like thermoseal ra. Rub on the teeth surface gently for 2-3 minutes and rinse. If you dont get relief after one month then you need to go to dentist. Doc will cover the exposed area with aesthetic restorative materials. Avoid taking too much cold and hot food.

•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person.

Smell from the mouth may be due to conditions present in the mouth and from stomach. Conditions in the mouth are poor oral hygiene i. E presence of plaque and tartar, poor salivary flow, or may be due to some gum infections. Problems from stomach may be due gastritis. Dehydration is also a common cause. Drinking adequate water may also relieve this. Kindly consult your dentist for further clarifications and wish a confident smile.
