I am not getting satisfactory answers from surgeon, who says that it will gradually bend. Should I be worried now? What may b the causes and remedies? Stiffness, pain and fever are the main issues. Having muscle pain since the last day for playing football after while what should I do?

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist, Delhi
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. It is only a one day story and it can happen when your muscles are over exerted to which they are not accustomed. You can do ice packs and take gentle anti inflammatory medication which suits you and you should be ok in next 4-5 days. Also do not indulge in any sporting activities for now till you are pain free and try to resume with gradual pre activity warm up and with short increments in physical activity each day. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Dear, low back pain are often referred for physical therapy for four weeks as an initial conservative (nonsurgical) treatment option before considering other more aggressive treatments, including back surgery. The goals of physical therapy are to decrease back pain, increase function, and teach the patient a maintenance program to prevent future back problems. Common forms of physical therapy include: 1.Passive physical therapy (modalities), which includes things done to the patient, such as heat application, ice packs and electrical stimulation. For example, a heating pad may be applied to warm up the muscles prior to doing exercising and stretching, and an ice pack may be used afterward to sooth the muscles and soft tissues. OSee Physical Therapy: Passive PT (Modalities) for Back Pain 2.Active physical therapy, which focuses on specific exercises and stretching. For most low back pain treatments, active exercise is the focus of the physical therapy program. This article focuses on active physical therapy and exercise as a means to help recover from back problems and prevent or minimize future flare-ups of low back pain Low back pain has lasted between two and six weeks, or if there are frequent recurrences of low back pain, physical therapy is often recommended. Some spine specialists consider physical therapy sooner, particularly if the pain is severe. •Read more: Exercise and Back Pain In general, the goals of physical therapy are to decrease pain, increase function, and provide education on a maintenance program to prevent further recurrences. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.

The most important treatment for a sprain is to give REST to the foot, do not bear weight on the foot. It may take 3 to 6 weeks for you to return to sports, depending on the degree of the ligament injury.

Hi, I would like to think that you should get your cervical spine evaluated, if thats fine than it could be due to either nerve entrapment or vascular cause. A short duration course of anti-inflammatory drugs with physical therapy can be tried. Thanks & Regards Dr Akshay

Hi. You can do the x-ray of your left knee (AP & Lateral - Standing) and visit nearby orthopaedic doctor. Ignoring pain knee joint can damage the joints more. It may also effect on right one. That's why you can visit as possible as earlier. So that we your treatment can be proceed further. In cold mostly knee joint pain may occur due to lack in Vit D3.
