Iam suffering from insomniac, not able to sleep in the nights earlier its upto 1 or 2 to sleep and becoming 10 to woke up, and feeling like insomniac can not able to sleep properly, please give me a good suggestion.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
1. Avoid caffeine found in coffee, tea, chocolate, cola, and some pain relievers.[four to six hours before bedtime.] 2. Quiet, dark, and cool environment can help promote sound sleep. [use heavy curtains, or an eye mask to block light, and also keeping computers, tvs, and other work materials out of the room will help promote mental bonding between your bedroom and sleep] 3. Avoid stressful, stimulating activities like doing work, discussing emotional issues. Physically and psychologically stressful activities can cause the body to secrete the stress hormone cortisol, which is associated with increasing alertness.

I am 17 years old and my height is too small (4.5 feet) So what I do to get back my sufficient height?

BHMS
Homeopath, Howrah
Exercise is the best way to increase height. Swimming, running, cycling, skipping, yoga exercises will help. Medicines has very little effect after 18years as the lengthwise growth of bone stops after 18-19yrs. Take protein rich food and calcium products.

Hiii I am 25 with an height of 5" 4 and weight 50 kg, recently I found a good amount of tummy which I tried to sort out by gymming but with no cure. Please suggest a way to do so.

B.Sc. - Dietitics / Nutrition, Nutrition Certification,Registered Dietitian
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Delhi
It will take some effort for you to flatten your tummy. I am outlining a 21 day plan for you. If you follow this plan sincerely then you will see a noticeable difference in just 21 days. There are 5 things that you need to do: 1. Eliminate all refined sugars from your diet. This means no sugar in your tea/coffee/milk, no consumption of sugary beverages like coke, pepsi and total elimination of all snacks like biscuits, cakes, sweet dishes. I know it is difficult but remember that you just have to adhere to this for 21 days. If you wish to snack you can have unsalted peanuts, dry fruits, seeds or yogurt. 2. When you get up in the morning, put your pillow aside and lie with your back straight. Put both your legs together and lift them so your legs are at a 30 degree angle with the bed. Maintain this pose of 5 minutes. Keep breathing while your legs are in the air. 3. Eliminate dinner altogether. In place of dinner have a bowl of papaya. You can have a small bowl of yogurt with black salt if you are not able to control your urge. 4. Keep hydrated through out the day. You need to drink at least 10 glasses of water every day. Tea/coffee are not substitutes of water. Minimize consumption of milk. Add raw vegetables to each meal. 5. One 500 mg tablet of calcium d-glucarate and one tablet of b-complex every day. If you miss even one of the steps mentioned above during your 21 day regime then you have to start all over again from day 1. Please bear in mind that it takes 21 consecutive days of performing all the above mentioned steps for the stomach muscles to start toning up.

I have thyroid problem. So I am using thyronorm tablet. Due to this problem I am fat. So how to lose my weight.

Vaidya Visharad
Ayurveda, Narnaul
Don't get me wrong — exercising at any time is good for you. But evening activity may be particularly beneficial because many people's metabolism slows down toward the end of the day. Thirty minutes of aerobic activity before dinner increases your metabolic rate and may keep it elevated for another two or three hours, even after you've stopped moving. What that means for you: Those dinner calories have less of a chance to take up permanent residence on your hips.

I am suffering from hairfall. I checked with doctors they said due to low hemoglobin .m facing this issue. Now its 9 .m having bit juice every next day. When I wash them they fall in plenty n now without washing also now they are falling. Not stopping at all. Which oil to be used and which shampoo. Bcoz now my scalp is seeing. Please help.

Diploma in Anesthesia, MBBS
General Physician, Hyderabad
There is no specific known cause for hair fall all are assumptions. So many things can affect the hair like hardness of water used for head bath. Some body ailments like low haemoglobin and other can affect hair. Locally dandruff can affect or even the shampoo which you are using can affect. So ideally this need to be treated after getting answers for the abve. Consult a skin specialist, if still wanted further clarification you can come back to us.

You have hyperpigmentation. You have pigmented spots post acne. Follow this - 1) use frequent washes of face by triclosan and zinc oxide soap (acnil, acnelak) 2) topical treatment - morning times use aha glow face wash then sunscreen lotion (suncote, sunkare, or melaguard). In the night use lightening creams i. E. Kojic acid with vit c or combination of hydroquinone, tretinoin and momentasome gives very good results.

I am not sleeping from 7-8 days, my eyes are becoming red and also there are dark circles below the eyes. What can I do?

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
Hello lybrate-user. Sorry about your problem. Redness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic. (4) raised intraocular pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the coats of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. (6) increased blood pressure. This has known to cause redness which is also known as sub-conjunctival hemorrhage. In this regard, a complete ophthalmic evaluation and a systemic evaluation is warranted. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. You could also use a lubricant eye drop along with an anti-histamine eye drop. (3-4 times daily) hope my suggestions helped you. Take care.

Dear , repeated uti and small calculi suggest that you are likely to have bladder outflow obstruction as primary problem, however mild it makes you prone for infection and infection in turn cause the stone drink plenty of fluids and evaluate the severity if obstruction by usg and urine flow studies and post reports to see.
