Sir, My ankles are having some pain during jogging and my eyes having some difficulties in watching in sun light!
Hi considering your age there shouldn't be a serious condition, both ankle and eye are separate issues. Eyes you should get check, it could be due to dry eyes, conjunctivitis or corneal problem. In older age it could be due to cataract. But you should not worry much about it, use a quality sunglasses for now and see if it get settle. For ankle, you can check if your shoes are of proper size and type as per your arch alignment. If you have foot alignment issue then orthotic insoles can help. In both the cases vitamin d3 supplement may help.

Red eye has many causes. You have to see if it is associated with blurring of vision, pain, discharge and other complaints. But commonly its allergic or infective in origin ie allergic or infective conjunctivitis. Which has simple treatment protocol. But still its wise to see an ophthalmologist for a thorough slit lamp examination to rule out other differentials for acute red eye.

Usually eye fatigue can be prevented or reduced by making simple changes in your work habits or environment. Make changes to your computer screen, such as: place the screen 20-26 inches away from your eyes and a little below eye level. Regularly clean off dust and fingerprints from the screen. Smudges on the screen can reduce contrast and increase problems with glare and reflections. Choose screens that tilt and swivel. Consider using a glare filter over your screen. Make changes to your work environment, such as: change lighting to reduce glare and harsh reflections. Use an adjustable chair. Place a document holder next to your computer screen. Make changes to your work habits, such as: try the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look away about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds. Post a note that says" blink" on the computer as a reminder. Take regular breaks from computer work. Take care of your eyes with these steps: apply a washcloth soaked in warm water to tired, dry eyes (with eyes closed). Use artificial tears to refresh your eyes when they feel dry. To help prevent dry eyes while working indoors, use an air cleaner to filter dust and a humidifier to add moisture to the air. Management: give sufficient rest to your eyes with proper sleep. Keep yourself hydrated with intake of 10-12 glasses of water in a day. Eat healthy especially vitamin a rich food (green vegetables, carrots, yellow fruits and vegetables) and avoid junk food. Hold tap water in your flexed palm, dip your one eye closer to the water level, shut and open your eyelids often. Do the same with your other eye. Repeat this whole process 1-2 times more in a day. Give your eyes proper rest. Can keep slices of cucumber or potato or used tea bags over the closed eyes for sometime. Medication: instill 2 drops of euphrasia eye drops in each eye twice daily.

Glaucoma prevention not help full any idea to fix this. When I can stop drops? How can I get relief? Please suggest something.

MS - Ophthalmology, FICO, FRCS - I & II
Ophthalmologist, Mathura
Dear patient yes to prevent glaucoma is very difficult but what is required is regular checkup of vision and eye pressure (intra ocular pressure) by eye specialist after the age of 40 years specially if you have family history of glaucoma. If glaucoma is diagnosed early and treatment started loss of vision is reversible and vision is stabilized. How to fix glaucoma depends on type of glaucoma. Silent or painless glaucoma also known as chronic simple glaucoma, painful glaucoma (acute congestive glaucoma. In first type patient does not know till late as no pain so diagnosis is delayed. But in acute type it is diagnosed early so vision is restored fast. Many tests are required to confirm the diagnosis of glaucoma and type of glaucoma like eye pressure measurement, automated visual field analysis, fundus exam specially optic disc, corneal thickness, retinal nerve fiber thickness around optic disc and gonioscopy. Once glaucoma is diagnosed use of anti glaucoma eye drops are life long under supervision usually causing lot of financial burden on patient that, s why glaucoma surgery is done bit early to reduce medications but this is case specific. You will get relief by properly following doctor, s advise. Normally first medical treatment is started. Many anti glaucoma eye drops and tablets (diamox) are there, best decided by eye specialist. If eye pressure is controlled by medications usually medications are life long but in very select cases surgery is done to control eye pressure. One of common side effect of long use of anti glaucoma eye drops is dry eye which also need to be tackled with eye soothing eye drops like refresh tears. Hope this answers your query about glaucoma.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology

Sir I am physically ill in winter season and my eyes is reddish sae season and have calcium problem so what should I ...
Redness of the eye is one of the most prevalent problems observed. Redness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. It occurs with symptoms of pricking, itching, irritation, watering, foreign body sensation and discomfort. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. Thus, eye hygiene remains the principal modality of treatment along with eye drops as a supplement. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. There may occur associated pain and sensation of itching, pricking, watering and discomfort. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic because it would require immediate removal from the eye and appropriate therapy. (4) raised eye pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the covering layers of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. (6) increased blood pressure. This has known to cause redness which is also known as sub-conjunctival hemorrhage. The redness in this case tends to be deep dark and usually occurs only in one portion of the eye. In this regard, a complete ophthalmic evaluation and a systemic evaluation is warranted. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. You could also use a lubricant eye drop along with an anti-histamine eye drop. (3-4 times daily) also, you might require a complete eye evaluation in order to rule out other causes. This would be possible only by examining your eyes in person. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care, regards.

Whenever I wake up I have red eyes is this because of use of mobile nd tv during night or is there any other reason behind?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Whenever I wake up I have red eyes is this because of use of mobile nd tv during night or is there any other reason b...
Yes lybrate-user, you are absolutely right. The redness of eyes is due to staining on eyes. While watching tv or using mobile for long intervals continuously, eyes get exhausted. While watching tv/mobile make sure that the lightening in room is proper and you are at least at a distance of 10 feet from tv to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the tv/mobile screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of tv/mobile usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine-------------------- cinelube eye drops (hapdco) pour 2 drops 3 times daily.

Helllo 1. Do not worry 2. Lattice signify some weakness of retina 3. In itself it can't damage your vision but yes you are more prone to retinal detachment than other people. 4. Usually we do not treat lattice but if patient insists then we can barrage it with laser.
