Mango is a mouth-watering juicy fruit rich in vitamins and minerals. But eating mangoes alone will not help. You need to consume them along with milk. You can also prepare mango milkshake and drink it two times daily for a month.

Hello there, thanks for your query. Well you can take painkiller for that. But be cautioned if you have any systemic condition like asthma or gastritis then medication need to be changed. Although paracetamol is the safest option that you could have in case of emergency. Thanks and regards.

Suck in that Tummy Exercise for Good Posture

Suck in that Tummy Exercise for Good Posture

Suck in that tummy exercise for good posture

Beat that slouch, because it’s not only ungainly, it can affect your health.
Modern living has ensured that we almost certainly are not as active as previous generations. All of us spend long hours sitting at desks, in front of computers, in cars and in front of the TV. In these situations, we are not using our muscles as nature originally intended, leading to bad posture.

Bad posture can take a serious toll on your spine, shoulders, hips and knees with short-term discomfort such as stiffness in the neck and headaches. It can also cause neck pain, back pain and reduced flexibility. On the other hand, good upright posture will minimise excessive strain on your muscles and joints, optimise breathing and circulation and help keep the skeletal system strong and in alignment. It also enhances your personality and beauty. Following are a few easy-to-do exercises to improve posture:

Core exercises: The core muscles — lower back and abdominal muscles — are majorly responsible for posture. A weak posture means a weak core. Exercises like abdominal floor crunches, hyperextensions, and some yoga and pilates postures help to strengthen the core. Another good way to strengthen your core is to use an exercise ball as your chair for at least 30 minutes once or twice a day. As the exercise ball is not stable, your body needs to try to balance itself on it. This helps strengthen your core and forces proper spine alignment.

Chin tucks: Many people have a tendency to slouch their heads forward. When the head falls forward, the neck is less stable and more pressure is placed on the joints of the neck. To counteract this tendency, you can do this simple neck exercise called chin tucks. Sit in a chair with your shoulders down and back. Gently push your chin forward and exaggerate bad posture, then tuck in your chin. Hold the tucked position for 5 to 10 seconds. Repeat five to 10 times. This will strengthen your deep neck muscles that help to maintain the correct postural position.

Trunk curls: Lie on your back on the floor, with knees bent. Position your hands behind your head. Using your upper abdominal muscles, raise your trunk off the floor to about 20 degrees, as if you are trying to touch the ceiling with your chest. Hold for 5 seconds and then lie down slowly. Repeat eight to 10 times.

Breastbone lift: The breastbone lift is a good exercise to strengthen your lower trapezius muscles (a large superficial muscle that spans the neck, shoulders and upper back). While still in the sitting position, gently lift your breastbone a few inches higher, while squeezing both of your shoulders backwards.

Pelvic tilt: The pelvic tilt strengthens your abdominals and stabilises your posture by developing the core muscles of your body. To perform this exercise, lie on the floor with your knees bent. Without using your buttocks and leg muscles, tighten your lower abdominal muscles and pull your navel and lower back towards the floor. Hold for five seconds and repeat the exercise eight to 10 times.

Arm/leg raises: This is a simple exercise to strengthen your lower back and support good posture. Lie face down on the floor with your arms straight overhead and legs extended. Slowly raise your left arm and right leg about six inches off the ground. Hold for five seconds and repeat the same with the opposite combination. Do sets of 10 repetitions for each side.

Shoulder squeeze: Shoulder squeeze is an exercise to correct your shoulder posture. To perform this exercise, sit on a chair and place your hands on your thighs. Keep your shoulders straight. Gradually move your shoulders backwards and compress the shoulder blades together. Hold for five seconds and repeat it five to eight times. This exercise is also good for your spine flexibility.

Abdominal pull-in: Sit straight and inhale deeply. While exhaling count to five and pull your stomach in. Repeat several times and relax.

Chin glide: The chin glide is a good exercise to curb your tendency to stick your neck out and unnaturally forward. Stand with your head held straight and shoulders relaxed. Slowly glide your head backwards until you feel a little stress. Do not tilt your head while moving your head backward. Hold this position for about 10 seconds and repeat it three to five times. You can perform this exercise at various intervals throughout the day.

Correcting exercises for your posture will enable you to eliminate various body pains, while making you look and feel more confident. So start now!

Shaving of hair is not the treatment and the hair loss contineus even after that without you noticing it. You are suffering from androgenic alopecia which is also called as pattern baldness. The hairs start reducing in density at the crown (top) and also the hairline starts refeeding from the front. This is usually progressive throughout life unless treated. This may also be accompanied by severe dandruff. The FDA approved treatment for this condition is a lotion and tablets. There is no other alternative. No oil or cream will magically work because the hairs are getting miniaturised and eventually disappearing due to the hormonal effects on the hair roots. Along with this, you can also consider platelet rich plasma therapy for faster results. Please call me or contact me with photos using online consult option for proper examination and treatment. Do not start treatment without consulting. I can give guidance and then you can continue treatment on your own.

Hello. White patches/ dots on your skin are a common type of depigmented skin lesion associated with an infection, allergy, or autoimmune disorder. One common cause of white spots, or hypopigmentation, is a fungal infection of the skin known as tinea versicolor (associated with other symptoms, such as itching or dryness on or around the white patches). This fungal infection is not contagious and can be treated easily with over-the-counter medications. The white spots and patches can also be because of deficiency of vitamin d (for which 15-20 minutes of exposure to early morning sunlight without sunscreen is needed, 3-4times a week). Or else they could be idiopathic (i. E, without any cause). Vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder which can be treated with homoeopathic medicines, but chances of relapses are also there. Please tell me other symptoms like about sensation on the area, since how long do you have this patch, any family history of white patch, etc. Meantime, you can start with homoeopathic medicines - cina 1m/ one dose daily at night and ars. Sulph. Flavum. 200/ twice daily for 20 days (it is safe). Apply a good brand's sunscreen with spf 40 on the skin (specially on the white patches/ spots) 20-30 minutes before going out under the sunscreen and reapply it after 3-4 hrs. Again.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
I am losing hair quickly and have tried all shampoo but no effect yet, I am not sure what else can I do. Can you pls ...
In general, you lose about 50-100 strands of hair each day, but the loss is not visible as new hair grow in their place. However, if you lose more than a 100 strands in a day and more than 200 strands on the day you shampoo, you may be suffering from what is known as excessive hair fall. Apply coconut oil and do not use shampoo. Only dry the excess Certain factors or reasons may cause you to lose hair at an alarming rate, which are, 1. Thyroid problems your thyroid is responsible for your body’s overall functioning. The hormones (primarily T4 and T3), which it produces help in regulating metabolic activities. Problems with your thyroid gland can cause your hormone levels to rise or fall to unhealthy levels, which can result in hair fall. You have to check yout thyroid function by a TFT test and inform me. You can improve the functioning of your thyroid gland through a diet rich in calcium, iodine, magnesium, protein and Vitamins A, B and C. 2. Scalp infections-Infections of the scalp can also be one of the factors that may cause your hair to fall at an alarming rate. Of the different scalp infections, the ringworm scalp infection is the most common. Although this fungal infection can occur in any part of your body, when it develops on your scalp, you end up losing clumps of hair. Alongside the use of anti-fungal medications, even anti-fungal shampoos and creams can provide you with respite from the problem. 3. Poor diet, Gorging on unhealthy foods or going on a crash diet can result in the lack of essential nutrients in your body, which are required to maintain healthy hair. Furthermore, since hair is made of protein, having a balanced diet consisting of proteins and vitamin- rich foods is a must. You have to do a blood test CBC and see if you have anaemia and any sign of infection. 4. Stress gives rise to certain conditions such as alopecia areata, telogen effluvium (hair loss caused post-pregnancy or surgery) and trichotillomania (an impulsive need to pull your hair out), which can cause you to lose significant amount of hair. To avert a hair loss crisis caused by stress, make it a point to do some simple stress-reducing exercises, such as meditation or breathing exercises. 5. Using hair styling products like hair colours and straighteners can cause you to experience hair fall problems. Your hair not only becomes dull and dry due to their use, but also becomes weak and brittle, leading to a gradual loss of hair. Regular oiling and use of homemade hair masks are some of the ways you can try to counter the negative effects of these hair styling products. 6. The drugs that are used in the treatment of cancer not only destroy the fast-growing cancer cells, but also the healthy blood cells in your body. For this reason, consuming foods that possess cancer-fighting properties (like oatmeal, tomato, almonds, garlic etc) is a sure-shot way of fighting the disease as well as averting any side-effects that may arise because of the treatment. 7. Alopecia areata. Lastly, hair fall can also be caused by alopecia areata, which is a kind of hair loss that takes place when your body’s immune system erroneously attacks your hair follicles, and prevents growth of new hair. 8. Genetics. The origin of your severe hair fall or baldness can be traced back to your ancestors. So, your genes can be a factor behind your hair fall problem. If this is the cause, your body then becomes unable to produce new hair. Apart from the changes that you can make in your lifestyle to address the causes of your hair fall, there are also techniques out there that you can employ to permanently treat your problem, such as platelet rich plasma, mesotherapy, stem cell therapy, ozone activated platelet rich plasma & hair transplant. Do not use shampoo and apply coconut oil and only dry excess oil if any without soap or shampoo .In order to have healthy volume of hair on your head, the rate of hair loss and replacement should be in tandem. With age, your hair growth cycle shows signs of slowing down and factors like age, disease, and hormonal changes among others affect the pace at which an individual hair follicle moves through the 3 phases of the hair cycle. A disruption in your hair cycle can give rise to loss of hair that’s rapid and unexpected. Hair loss or alopecia can affect both men and women. So what can cause your hair to fall at an alarming rate? The reasons behind hair loss could be many, but here are 6 major ones: 1. Lack of protein in your diet When you exclude protein from your diet, your body starts to conserve the protein that it has by altering the growth cycle of your hair. In such cases, your hair enters into the resting stage, resulting in zero hair growth. In India, 9 out of 10 people are said to suffer from low amounts of protein in their diet, with 91% vegetarians reporting protein deficiency. 2. Iron deficiency Iron plays a very important role in the transportation of oxygen to the different organs of the body. Lack of iron in your diet (which is the principle reason behind anaemia) can give rise to several health problems including hair loss. Your body attempts to direct oxygen to important organs so as to support their functioning. As a result, your scalp witnesses a low supply of oxygen, which causes hair loss. 3. Vitamin D-3 deficiency Deficiency of vitamin D-3 gives rise to a type of hair loss called Telogen Effluvium (TE). This is a temporary hair thinning phenomenon that takes place when the all the hair on your scalp enter the resting phase at the same time, subsequently causing you to shed a large amount of hair later on. 4. Smoking Smoking can also affect the health of your hair, especially the rate at which it falls and the number of strands lost in a day. A research carried out by the Harvard School of Public Health has revealed that smoking can cause a rise in a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). An increase in DHT level prevents new hair cells from growing and causes hair follicles to reduce in size with each hair cycle. As a result, the area on your scalp that gets affected by DHT experiences a lack of hair growth. 5. Use of testosterone supplements in gym Intake of testosterone in the form of supplements and injections to build muscle mass can trigger hair loss in men. This takes place when the testosterone in these supplements gets changed into DHT, thereby affecting your hair loss rate and amount. 6. Past illnesses (dengue, TB and typhoid) Falling of hair can also be brought on by illnesses such as typhoid, TB and dengue as the hair growth cycle comes to a stop. Hormonal or metabolic stress that is experienced during the course of such diseases may cause hairfall. The treatments available to cure hair loss? 1. Hair transplant Hair transplant is a minimally invasive surgical technique that transfers hair follicles taken from other parts of your body to the balding area. Known by the name of Follicular Unit Transplantation, this hair loss treatment can help to bring back the natural appearance of a fuller head of hair. Hair follicles are harvested using two procedures- follicular unit extraction and strip harvesting. Procedure can vary from 4-8 hours or more depending on the case. 2. Platelet- Rich Plasma (PRP) Platelet- Rich Plasma (PRP) is another treatment alternative that can reverse hair loss. It’s a simple non-surgical procedure that lasts about 60-90 minutes. In this form of hair treatment, the patient’s own blood cells, more specifically blood platelets are injected into the scalp. Usually 8 sittings are required with each sitting being 2 weeks apart for better results. 3. Low Level Laser (Light) Therapy (LLLT) This form of hair therapy utilises light energy of a specific wavelength and threshold to stimulate cellular activity, thereby promoting hair growth. Various controlled clinical tests have revealed its effectiveness in encouraging hair growth in both the genders.

YOur testosterone is NOT high as normal range is between 14_76 ng/dl. Reducing Testosterone Levels via Diet Eat more soy products. Soybeans are rich in phytoestrogenic compounds known as isoflavones (especially genistein and glycitein. Add more flaxseed to your diet. Limit your fat consumption. Avoid refined carbohydrates. Consider using herbal remedies. Cheese, yogurt, grains (bread, pasta, crackers, rice, cereals), chocolate, and alcohol. These foods lower testosterone by increasing the activity of an enzyme, aromatase, which converts testosterone into estrogen.

My son is addicted to mobile phones game, clash of cans, he plays whole night and sleeps whole day. Doesn' t like food, don' t want to talk to any one. Doesn' t go to school. Last year he passed 10th. How can you help me.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
He is seriously addicted to these games and needs help to get out of this habit. There is nothing wrong with these modern gadgets and the tremendous uses they can be put in to. But to be completely absorbed in the activity without concern for food, sleep, studies and social contact is going beyond the limit. It is become both compulsive and obsessive. When giving him the mobile you should also have brought in some basic rules and conditions. If he failed to comply, you could easily confiscate the item. Now however he is much into it and will react with violence or non-compliance with refusal to study and go to college etc. Anyway, that is now spilt milk. Here is what you need to do: first, talk to him in a caring manner to dissuade him from this extensive use of the phone for games. Then, threaten to withdraw the mobile phone, if he doesn? t follow some timings, proper eating habits, going to school, and sleeping at night. If he complies, well and good. If not, threaten to stop payment for his mobile bills. If that does not work, then just take away the phone and give it to him at set times during the day, only. When I say? threaten, you must then act on that threat and actually do it. Then, you could completely confiscate the phone. Do not give him any pocket money either, as that will feed into the addiction: he can go and play at some computer caf?, though that might at least restrict the night usage. Another way is to subtly give him some chores for the family and take him away from the phone for brief moments. You could also send him to a relative in a remote place, if you have someone there, and take the phone away from him during that trip. The more aggressive way to go about it is to dip the phone in water and quietly put it back after wiping it and thus making it defunct. Sometimes, you will need to do it this way, unfortunately, to somehow get him to stop the habit. Waiting for him to initiate it may never happen. The last option is to wait for him to get to a stage where he develops finger injuries or other sleep and food deprivation problems that will force him to want to give up the habit. The wait could be for a long time, but we have to be patient. If at any point he acts violent or threatens violence, you must tell him that you will report him to the police. This is tough love, and needs this kind of approach to halt the progress of a disease that has become out of control.
