Sleep Apnea and Heart Disease: The Risks of Untreated Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea and Heart Disease: The Risks of Untreated Sleep Apnea

We're all guilty of making fun of snorers but sometimes this snoring can be a symptom of sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a condition where breathing is not continuous and may start and stop many times while asleep. This affects the quality of your sleep and in turn can affect many aspects of your health including your cardiovascular health. Here's how:

High Blood Pressure
When a sleep apnea patient's breathing stops, the oxygen levels in the blood also suddenly fall. This can increase your blood pressure. High blood pressure means that the heart muscles need to work harder to pump blood through the body.

Cardiomyopathy
As a result of high blood pressure, the heart walls may become thicker and the heart muscles become stiffer. This is known as cardioyopathy. As this condition worsens, the heart becomes weaker and is unable to maintain a regular rhythm. This can eventually lead to heart failure.

Arrhythmia
An irregular heartbeat is also known as arrhythmia. This may also be related to the changes in the heart's structure that follow the drop in blood oxygen levels. In many cases, arrhythmia has no visible symptoms and can often go undiagnosed. This can result in the formation of blood clots in the atria which can lead to a stroke.

Sleep apnea is easy to diagnose. If the doctor feels that you show symptoms of sleep apnea, you may be asked to stay on the hospital overnight and undergo a sleep evaluation. This tests a variety of body functions including brain activity, eye movements, heart rate, breathing patterns and blood oxygen levels.

Treatment for sleep apnea depends on the causes for this condition. If you are overweight, regular exercise and a change in diet can help you lose the excess weight and cure sleep apnea. Similarly, if your sleep apnea is triggered by an allergy, treating the allergy can help cure the sleep apnea. Other forms of treatment for sleep apnea may include:

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)
This is a machine which pumps air into the body through a nasal mask. By keeping the pressure in the machine higher than normal air pressure the upper airway passages are kept open and hence the quality of your sleep is improved. An auto CPAP machine can modulate the air pressure such that it is higher when you inhale and lower when you exhale.;

Oral devices
Your doctor may suggest oral devices that allow you to keep your mouth open while you sleep. This is easier to use than CPAP machine but less effective.

Surgery is the last resort when it comes to treatment for sleep apnea.

Hi lybrate-user. There are many misconception about penis size in people that bigger penis means better sex. It is never like that. It is the art of doing sex that gives your partner the exhilaration and satisfaction. There are hardly any effective medicines that can change the penis size. Instead try to learn the different ways to do it properly. And enjoy the sex life. Also don't over do it. Whether sex or masturbation.

Obese Women Tend to Suffer from PCOD - Ayurveda Has The Answers!

Obese Women Tend to Suffer from PCOD - Ayurveda Has The Answers!

PCOD stands for polycystic ovarian disease and it is a disorder associated with women of middle age or younger. There is a sense that the condition is being reported increasingly in the past few years. The appearance of multiple cysts on ovaries which leads to the menstrual cycle being disturbed, more or less describes this gynaecological disorder. The immediate fallout of PCOD is that it can result in infertility and that causes more anxiety among married women. Unfortunately, such anxiety can worsen their chances of conceiving. They must subject themselves to proper diagnosis and treatment.

Symptoms and Diagnosis
A typical PCOD patient may suffer from an enlarged ovary and therefore it produces excess of androgen and estrogenic hormones. Experienced gynaecologists usually understand the condition through interaction with the patient and after listening to the medical history, particularly relating to their menstrual cycle. The incidence of the condition in obese women is more frequent and the excess levels of androgen etc. as described above will also leave a few symptoms. Blood tests or pelvic exam is conducted by the doctor to confirm the phrase of PCOD.

Treatment for PCOD
Under Ayurveda, the PCOD condition is seen as an imbalance in the rasa and rakta dhatus. The multiple layers of cysts are also explained as the accumulation of impurities and toxins in the system. The predominant underlying cause and therefore the treatment under Ayurveda relates to the food consumed and lifestyle adopted by the affected women.

From the food intake perspective, the advice is to switch to low-fat milk and drink only boiled milk. The PCOD affected women should consume fruits, preferably the lighter varieties which can be easily digested and have less sugar content, such as apples, oranges, etc. Besides these a kind of vegan diet with an abundance of green vegetables and whole grains is also recommended.

Advised Lifestyle Changes
Ayurveda also combines instructions on certain simple changes being brought about in the normal lifestyle of PCOD patients, which can be applicable to others also. One is to avoid stress and reduce the levels of anxiety. While remaining active, excessive physical strain must be completely avoided. Women diagnosed with PCOD must strictly refrain from consuming alcohol and smoking and drug intake should also be fully avoided. These can have a direct impact on the menstrual cycle.

Whenever a women diagnosed with PCOD has been found to have excess body weight, the doctor may put them through a simultaneous weight loss programme, without harming the physical condition of the woman in any manner. Once the PCOD condition is treated and the ovary is restored to its original form, the woman can pursue a separate line of treatment for ovulation and pregnancy where such intentions exist.

Ayurvedic Panchkarma therapy including Abhyangam, Shiridhara and Basti Chikitsa is very effective. Ayurvedic medicine to restore hormonal imbalances is better substitute. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

I want to increase my penis size. Plzz refer me some medicine to make it enlarge.
In homoeopathy ,there are many fruitful remedies to keep penis long and strong. The average size of penis is 5.54 inches (14.07 cm) length and 3.11 inches (7.9 cm) girth are enough to perform a successful sexual intercourse. When the length of the erect penis is below 4.5 or 4 inches then we call it micro penis. Some reasons are responsible for this problem such hormone, masturbation habit from childhood, infection in the prostate gland etc are very common reasons. Homeopathic remedies are very helpful to increase the size or length of the penis and make it strong. You can consult me by clicking on consult option for homoeopathic treatment or you can buy package of penis enlargement offered by me which includes medicine and consultation..
