You should check for ticks infestation. Redness indicate mixed microbial infection. Wokazole is good enough for minor infection, but larger area of redness, require systemic antibiotic treatment.

My labrador puppy is 0.8kg at the age of 6 weeks. In what amount I should feed him to make him healthier? Please help.

M. V SC & A.H. (Veterinary Medicine

See normal diet as must hv been advised to you by your vet. One thing you should remember as a thumb rule for all pets whtever food you give, make it a point that pet runs atleast 1-2 kms each day which is its normal need. If you donot provide the pet this opportunity, it will develop lethargy, become obese and will get risk of suffering from metabolic disease like human. Then your purpose of keeping a pet will b defeated.

I have a rottweiler puppy about 70 days old got problem in his rear legs i.e lameness. As one Dr. Told me that he got ligament problem in his rear legs. He got this problem after about 50 days. Before that he was alright. Now could you please guide me what is best solution for this problem.

Hello, mostly dogs at this age are in fast growing stage and problem like this can either increase or get resolved. It depends on which region is affected so getting an x ray of back legs will help to find the extent of problem. Till that give some pain medication to dog n avoid slippery floor n commercial dog food.

When does a dog use to get blood vomits. Because why I am asking I had a gsd cross breed. The doctors said may be it has been suffering with liver infections. Please clarify if there is liver infections they use to get blood vomit.

MVSc, BVSc
Veterinarian,
Ulcerative gastritis is the most common reason for blood in vomits. Could be secondary to low platelets due to tick borne infection. Poisoning with rat baits could be another reason. Consumption of bones/foreign bodies which can stuck in stomach and cause mechanical injury leading to bleeding is another cause. It can also happen secondary to kidney or liver disease.

My dog is a lab , he's perfectly alright , behaving well , playing , drinking water and his urine is also white but his appetite has suddenly fallen , he hardly eats but plays fine , sleeps fine . What can this be ?

MVSC
Veterinarian, Hyderabad
Your dog is perfectly alright with the normal behaviour. First of all I would like to know what is your location. Check for the changes in the weather at your place. The day temperatures are gradually inceasing these days. May be due to normal stress it may not take food. Deworm your dog first, Give plenty of water and preferably liquid diet for 2- 3 days and observe your dog. If still it doesn't take food see vet at your place.

Diet for patients with Portal vein hypertension ?

MVSc, BVSc
Veterinarian,
As portal hypertension usually manifests with chronic hepatitis or cirrhosis in dogs, please evaluate the hepatic enzymes and function. Check if there is any ascites as well. You get commercially available hepatic diets. Alternatively you could choose sodium restricted low fat and protein, but balanced carb food - which however is difficult to formulate.

I have a black rabbit and he's 2 years old, my question is how can I help him wid his loose motions.

M.V.Sc. & PhD Scholar Veterinary Medicine
Veterinarian, Navi Mumbai
Please provide lacto bacillus powder (sporolac sachets) in his diet. You can add it in water or can feed directly also. Don't give any oral antibiotics as these may aggravate the condition. Thank you.

My dog is 3 mnths, while jumping he broke one of his tooth. Since then he is uneasy, biting evrything. Pls suggest. What should we do to make him easy? thanks.

MVSc, BVSc
Veterinarian,
Well, he's uneasy because he's getting new set of teeth. Called as teething. The tooth he broke was milk tooth/deciduous tooth and should be replaced by permanent one soon. Make sure you offer him balanced food. Non edible toys, bigger than size of his head can be given to chew upon.

Dear sir, as far as the dog is a street dog you need to worry. In this case even thought the dog is a street dog it does not seems to be bitten case as you dint have any injury or cut wound. To get rabies you need to be: 1. Have a cut wound first then rabies dog saliva has to be in contact with the wound. 2. Have to watch the dog for 30 days. Because the rabies dog cannot survive more than 45 days. 3. Rabies is a viral diseases so it needs a proper contact with the infection wild rabid carnivores. (like hiv infection) 4. So in your cases what you have done is more than enough.

I have gsd cross breed female dog and she is 6 years old. 10 days back she had been coughing now and then. Now she is not coughing I gave medicine. But till today she is not taking food she use to drink only water.(she was not taking her food for th past 4 days). Please suggest me any medicine for her.

MVSc, BVSc
Veterinarian,
Wise to check if she has any infection and fever. Coughing could be initial sign which could have subsided, but infection could have prevailed. Share more info about her meds. Would recommend a blood test. Take care.

I need a pet doctor because my 3 month old pet dog is vomiting and suffered from fever. Please help.

MVSc
Veterinarian, Darjeeling
You did not mention the deworming and vaccination status of your pet. There may be different reasons for vomiting. Parasite infestation, indigestion, acidity are the prime cause. Vomiting causes dehydration and loss of electrolytes from body. So, give it ors (oral rehydration solution) @ 20-25 ml / hour frequently to combat that. Then go for deworming your puppy with suitable dewormer and liver tonic. Avoid protein type diets for few days. Give adequate carbohydrate type diet and plenty of water. Apply digestive tonic containing essential digestive enzymes twice daily after meal. In severe case of vomiting, go for fluid therapy (rl) with antacid and antivomitic injections. In case of fever use antipyretic like paracetamol suspention in proper dose with antacid. When everything will be alright, then go for vaccination. Please repeat dewotrming in every 3 months interval.
