I am 14 years old and regularly nose bleed. Is there any medication for this. This has been happening from the last 2 years. What should I do?

MS - ENT
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Gandhinagar
Bleeding from nose: cold water on nose and head will help. If no result, endoscopy of nose to locate the bleeder and cautery of bleeder will cure you.

MS - ENT, MBBS

The pulsations feeling in ear is normal after exercise. It may due to conduction from major vessels of neck. There are blood vessels in the ear also. But when you get resonance in the ear. It may be due to eustachian tube problem. Please visit ent surgeon for identifying the exact reason.

Hello there, for cough, take 2-2 teaspoonful of pranacharya kasantak by mixing it in hot water twice daily. Sitopaladi, praval and tankan bhasm churna taken with honey can also bring relief. Consume this 3 to 4 times a day for relief from dry cough; you can also drink tea with basil leaves or add ginger and black pepper in it. Salted hot water gargling also helps. And stay away from cold drinks and don't take milk when having cough.

Hi sir I am manor firm chandigarh I am 28 years old sir actually I am suffering from tonsils problems since 2 years can you tell me how can I treat it and operation is successful ya not.

MBBS, MS - ENT, DNB
ENT Specialist, Gurgaon
If you r having recurrent infections in tonsils characterised by sore throat, fever n require antibiotic treatment, you should definetly go for tonsillectomy. But if you r having occasional sore throat you can opt for conservative treatment like maintaining oral hygiene, avoiding junk food, sudden change of temperature and maybe some antiallergic and immunity boosting medications for which you can consult your local ent specialist.

Hi is cervical spondylosis a cause of vertigo. Or is it due to ear issues. I have neck pain n bilateral chronic eardrum perforation and this imbalance/ dizzy feeling is happening from 2-3 week mostly after I stand for sometime or I bend my head/ neck.

MS - ENT
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Gandhinagar
yes it can be due to cervical spondylosis and ear drum perforation also....Dizziness or giddiness is usually due to ear labyrinthine problem. Anti vertigo tabs and vitamin B 12 can help you. You require to go for Ear examination. Pure tone and Impedence audiometry, may require CT scan and stepping test( cranio corpography) to come to proper diagnosis.

I have problem in my both ear vexing before 6 month. I tried one ear drop vexil ear drop, but it does effect to good extend. Tell me about good medicine and ear drop and also suggest me best.

MS - ENT
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Rajkot
Direction and shape of your ear canal must be abnormal, that's why wax collection occurs. Drops can only soften wax but it may not come out in your case. It will be better that you visit any ent specialist and tell them to remove wax.

General Physician,
Yes you are right you have viral sinusitis frontal or maxillary sinusitis. Start warm saline gargle regularly. Have homemade freshly prepared lemon juice which is rich in vitamin c thereby increasing your body autoimmune system which prevents infection. Have nutritious food. Plenty of water by mouth. Go for morning walk followed by free hand exercises. It will be alright.

lybrate-user, Your ENT surgeon is right. You need a Septoplasty to correct the nasal Septal deformity. It is a very simple surgery which I do as a daycare case. I have been doing the latest packless endoscopic nasal surgery for the last 15 years which means - NO BANDAGES BLOCKING NOSE (nasal breathing is possible immediately after surgery), NO LONG HOSPITALISATION (patient usually leaves the hospital within 2 hours after the surgery)! You are welcome to drop into my clinic in Bengaluru for the same if you do not get anyone to do this surgery in your Town.

How Septoplasty Is Performed?

MBBS, MS - ENT
ENT Specialist, Varanasi
How Septoplasty Is Performed?

The nasal septum divides the nose into two nostrils or airways. When this septum is defective in structure or position, it can cause several physical difficulties like breathing problems, sleep apnea, bleeding, sinusitis, etc. The surgery to correct the nasal septum is known as septoplasty. The surgery is very common and has a high rate of success.

Reason: When the bone and cartilage separating the two chambers is crooked and deformed, it prevents the air from flowing properly through either one of the nostrils. People suffering from this condition often breathe through their mouth and this leads to respiratory tract infections. So, the septum is fixed with the help of septoplasty.

Procedure

  1. First, your medical history is taken. A thorough physical examination is conducted and the nose is photographed from the inside and the outside. You may also be asked to avoid medication like ibuprofen, naproxen and aspirin for a few days since these can increase the bleeding after surgery.
  2. Septoplasty is performed under general or localized anesthesia and takes about 90 minutes. Incisions are made on the inside of the nose and the mucus membrane is lifted.
  3. Then, the pieces of cartilage that are affecting normal functioning are repositioned or removed.
  4. If the nasal bone is causing the septum to be wrongly aligned, then cuts are made on the bone and it is positioned correctly.
  5. Sometimes, cartilage grafts (called spreader grafts) are put in between the upper nose cartilage and the septum to widen the narrow nostril.
  6. After this, the mucus membrane is put back in place and stitched.

Post- surgical care: A nasal support is put inside the nose to help it heal and keep it straight. The support is removed after two days but there may be swelling and occasional nasal discharge for a few days. The tissues and cartilage become stable within 4 to 6 months. You are asked not to blow your nose or cough and sneeze too much as these might displace the nasal support. The head is to be kept at a higher level than the rest of the body while sleeping and physically demanding exercises are to be avoided in order to prevent nosebleeds.

Risks: Septoplasty is not performed if the patient had high level of blood sugar or high blood pressure. It is also delayed in case of any kind of infection in the nose, mouth or in the respiratory tract. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ENT specialist.

I am getting blood in my nose when temperature changes. What will be the cause and what to do.

DNB (ENT), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
Hi In dry and hot weather the nose dries up and starts crusting. This causes bleeding. Use saline nasal drops or sprays 3-4 times a day in both nasal cavities during these temperature changes. It should avoid the bleeding.
