May I know the symptoms of migraine. I'm suffering from continues headache since a year.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
Migraine is characterised by severe pulsating headache either usually on one side of the head, associated with nausea, vomiting, emotional lability etc. Relieved momentarily by rest and medications and aggravated by loud noise, exposure to sun, sleep deprivation, depression, stress etc. Migraine is a relapsing type of headache. It is usually seen in females but may occur in males too. Management of migraine includes treatment for acute headaches and then treatment for prevention of future attacks of migraine. This is decided according to the onset, type, duration, severity of headaches and also the associated symptoms like sleep problems, stress, anxiety etc.

Doctor say that insulin do not leave when is life if diabetes 350 to 500 not a proper position low or high in one hour low next hour high doctor not give a proper solution he says am not understand what is this?

M.D. Internal Medicine
Endocrinologist, Mumbai
If you have blood sugars in the range of 350-500 then you should not leave insulin injections. In fact your insulin dosage or type of insulin needs to be changed. Some times oral diabetic drugs can also be added. Some times diet/exercise failure /stress/infection/ thyroid dysfunction in the body does not allow your sugars to come under control.

Urologist, Kolkata
Dear sir, at your your age this symptoms classically correlate with a condition called benign hyperplasia of prostate where the median lobe of prostate is enlarged. Depending on its size there are various modalities of treatment including medical and surgical choices. Get an usg of kubp region done and share the reports with me so that I can give you proper advice. Please do not ignore because if the size of prostate gets more enlarged, one day it will cause acute retention of urine and it will be an emergency because you will be suffering from a lot of pain as the urine will get stuck. Please do the investigation as soon as possible and consult with me so that I can help you with medications.

Maintaining Diet In Diabetes

General Physician, Aligarh
Maintaining Diet In Diabetes

A lifestyle disease such as diabetes is never nice to have, isn’t it? Also, when a person has diabetes, there are some things of which more should be had and then, there are some whose consumption should be scaled back. So what exactly does a diet for a person who has diabetes look like?

Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day as it kicks off the metabolism for the day. Having a large breakfast is quite important so as to take care of the body, but this only makes sense if the food that is being eaten for breakfast is healthy enough. It is quite a good idea to have some porridge. While it is true that porridge is a carbohydrate-rich food item, what it also has is a great amount of soluble fibre. In fact, this sort of fibre takes some time to digest, so it reduces the pangs of hunger, which would have normally made a person eat unhealthy junk and fast food.

In a world of food that is processed, packaged and picked up from the supermarket, people are just not eating the correct amount of fruits and vegetables as they should. What is important to keep in mind is that vegetables are to be had in multiple portions on a daily basis, but these vegetables must be low in starch content. This means that for a person who has diabetes, vegetables which should not be eaten include potatoes, sweet potatoes, peas as well as corn.

On the other hand, the sort of vegetables which are to be eaten include broccoli and spinach. Spinach is also very good for increasing the level of haemoglobin in the blood. Also, making use of cinnamon extract is good as it has the potential to cut a person’s sugar levels by up to a tenth.

While it is not true that potatoes and other starchy foods should be completely avoided, a diabetic person should watch the amount of them that is being consumed by him or her. The reason for this is that starch-filled vegetables have high amounts of carbohydrates, which are generally responsible for raising the level of blood sugar. This is surely the last thing a diabetic person would want or need.

If you notice, strawberries have some sugar content, but they are a lot better than biscuits and other snacks. So in case a diabetic person wants to nibble on something, sweet fruits are always a better option. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

I am suffering from molluscum contagious please advice I am really stressed sir please help me.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
The condition spreads through contact with an infected person or a contaminated object. Though painless, the small bumps might itch. Scratched bumps can spread infection to surrounding skin. The bumps usually disappear on their own. In rare cases, the bumps can be removed using medication or other procedures. Like laser.

My daughter is of 10months and most of the time she has constipation problem. What should I do?

PG Hom, London, BHMS
Homeopath, Mumbai
Hi Anu, If you are giving artificial milk to your daughter, she is having constipation because of it. But continuing the milk will be necessary for her growth. In that case, you can give her one home remedy- Take some 4-5 black raisins and soak them in a glass full of water overnight. Next day, give her the water you soak the raisins in, to her in the morning. You can give her the soaked raisins also but it is optional.
