A diet rich in iron, calcium and silica can help greatly in reducing or preventing hair loss. Iron can be obtained from green leafy vegetables such as spinach and collard greens. Oatmeal and raw oats contain a considerable amount of silica. Potato skin, green and red peppers, cucumbers and bean sprouts are all rich sources of silica too.

Homeopath, Delhi
Hello, there can be many reasons behind it like mental worries, nutritional deficiency, hereditary and anaemia. *Make a habit of 8-10 glasses of water daily. *Eat healthy and balanced food like pulses, green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits and nuts etc. *Eggs as it is loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, vitamin b12, iron, zinc and omega 6 fatty acids in large amount. *Add more vitamin rich food to your diet. *Avoid stress and anger. *Cut down the use of hair spray, hair gel. *Take a sound sleep. Take homoeopathic medicine Weisbaden 30 (4 drops in little water) twice a day for 15 days and update with the feedback. Use Arnica hair oil and Arnica shampoo.

I have a white spot on my forehead it is for 5 year. Give the relevant solution of the problem.

MBBS, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Gurgaon
It might be a vitiligo, or.due to calcium deficiency. Sometimes worms are also responsible for these kinds of spots, rarely it is due to melanin pigment deficiency, so you may atleast do a deworming and take calcium supplements, Avoid citrous fruits, and you may apply ointment meant for reducing the whiteness, should you need any further information or advice you may get back to us for detailing you more on this.

Is it possible to regrow hair with any tonic or any other medicine naturally or treatment.

Dermatologist, Mumbai
There is possibility of growing the hair but it is important to check the status of the scalp, hair follicle. If hair follicles are dead then regrowth is not possible but if they are alive then regrowth is possible. Hair is made up of proteins, minerals and iron. It is very important to eat healthy food like sprouts, beans, nuts, green leafy vegetables. Drink 3 lit of water/day. Oil the scalp 3/week and wash it 3 / week. Consult trichologist.

Vaginal Dryness - Ways it Can be Treated!

Vaginal Dryness - Ways it Can be Treated!

How to treat vaginal dryness?
Production of estrogen slows down and eventually stops during menopause. Quite a few changes take place when this happens. Often these changes are unwelcome. Irregular menstruation happens and finally stops. Mood swings, hot flashes, increased facial hair and deepening of the voice may happen as well. Another common menopause symptom is vaginal dryness, as it affects one third of all women. Any age group can experience vaginal dryness due to various factors. It may initially appear to be just an irritation, but reduced vaginal moisture may adversely affect sexual performance. Thankfully, multiple treatment options are available for relieving vaginal dryness.

Vaginal dryness caused by reduced estrogen levels can be easily treated by applying topical estrogen. It compensates for the body’s reduced estrogen production Three common vaginal estrogen types used by most women are:

  • Estrogen tablet: Disposable applicators can be used for inserting a tablet inside the vagina, once daily during the initial two weeks or so of treatment. The dosage is reduced to twice weekly till it is no longer needed.
  • Estrogen Cream: An applicator can be used to apply the cream inside the vagina. Usually the cream is used daily for up to two weeks and then the frequency is reduced to thrice weekly or as recommended by the doctor.
  • Estrogen Ring: It can be inserted by your doctor or you in the vagina. It is a flexible and soft ring that steadily releases an estrogen stream directly into the vaginal tissues. The ring has to be discarded and replaced with a new one after three months.

To keep the lubrication in the vagina constant, one can use vaginal moisturizers. These can be bought from a supermarket or at a drugstore, however, bubble baths, douches, lotions and scented soaps should be avoided. Such products may increase vaginal dryness.

However, topical estrogen should be avoided by women:
1. Who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, more so when they are using aromatase inhibitors
2. Who have had/have endometrial cancer
3. Who suffer from vaginal bleeding, the cause of which cannot be identified
4. Who are breastfeeding or are pregnant

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

MY AGE IS 26 year's. MY Problem is that Very Big Pain on My Neck and My Left Hand. Please Correct Advice.

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
Neck problems can affect the shoulders, arms, and even hands. These problems can be caused by wear and tear over the years, trauma, or simply" over-doing-it" one weekend. Neck pain radiating down the arms is often caused by cervical spinal stenosis or a herniated disc. You should seek the medical advice of a physician or a physiotherapist for detail assessment and management of your pain. Physiotherapist treat initial pain, inflammation, and muscle spasms with heat and cold, electrotherapy, manual therapy (soft tissue and spinal mobilizations), and light specific exercise. As pain decreases, they focus on regaining range of motion, strength, and endurance, while encouraging correct body mechanics and postures. Final stages of back care include regaining muscular control and reaction time to help prevent further injury.

Dear Lybrate User, * To reduce hairfall and whitening of hairs, Practice Yogasana like Shirshasana and Sarwangasana only under the guidance of Expert. * you can use mahabhringraj oil and apply it 3 times in a week massage your scalp for 10 to 15 minutes daily. It increases blood circulation in your scalp and enhances hair growth. * Avoid intake of any medicines because they cause toxicity & hairfall. * Avoid the excess use of products such as hair colours or shampoo. * Take Vitamin-E rich foods like dry fruits (Almonds, Pista etc) daily. * Take 1/2 teaspoon of Amla powder with water once a day. * Apply the egg yolk to the scalp atleast once a week. It gives nourishment to hair root and enhances hair growth. * Checkout your thyroid profile & take proper treatment of thyroid disorder.

The quantity of sugar, fat and protein impacts your weight greatly. Since yogurt is a high-protein food, one feels fuller for long. Fruit based yogurt is said to have 118 calories, consume it in your daily diet for increased weight. You can also try Greek yogurt, as it contains double protein and has very yummy savor.

I am 39 years old suffering from polyp in left vocal cord. Any remedy in medicine or other therapy without surgery. What is the risk factor associated?

Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
Hi, Vocal polyps do not respond to any medical treatment unless it's a vocal nodule. Vocal nodule in early stage can get resolved if you could give voice rest and do some steam inhalation. I suggest you consult another ent surgeon and confirm the diagnosis.
