Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

I'm a 28 year male. I am suffering from persistent severe- mild headache from the past 1 week. Actually I was out on a holiday and had a lot of drinking for continuous 3-4 days. Also this is happening to me for the 3rd time this year, as earlier also when I was out for holidays, this happened for like 12-15 days and back then also no medicines helped. Is this some knid of alcohol withdrawal syndrome or something else. please advice. Urgently needed.

Dear lybrate-user, it is happening repeatedly. It may be alcohol withdrawal or alcohol intoxication or other conditions related to alcohol. Whatever it is you need to treat your alcohol use. Why don; t you go to a psychiatrist or deaddiction centre to quit alcohol or to find out whether you will become a person who is dependent on alcohol. For the time being take a pain killer. But it is important to consult soon.

Backacke can be due to numerous reasons like back strain, big tummy, slip disc, lumber spondylosis. You can do following home remedies: 1) mix camphor in coconut oil and boil it. Massage it followed by hot fomentation. 2) have turmeric & honey milk. 3) put a hot-water bag on back supported by a cushion. 4) add ginger while brewing your tea 5) if you are overweight, go for weight loss program 6) stay away from cold, go for hot water baths.

Hand pain can be caused by many conditions. 1. Arthritis: Osteoarthritis or Rheumatoid arthritis can affect the small joints of fingers and wrist. There will be associated swelling of joints and nodules on fingers. 2. Tenosynovitis of the finger muscles. In this case finger movements will be painful. You might be suffering from this condition. 3. Vascular diseases like Raynauds phenomena , characterised by color changes of hand from Blue to red and vice versa on temperature changes. 4. Nerve entrapment syndromes cause hand pain along with numbness, tingling sensation and muscle weakness. 5. Fractures of small bones of fingers. 6. Infections of soft tissues or tendons of hands. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.

Avoid sitting for long hours! take breaks in between. Do sit straight. Move your chair close to desk so that you can sit straight. Drink lots of water. Apply ice on affected area 2/3 times in a day! avoid bending and lifting heavy weights. Do extension exercises.

Pl drink dashmoola and Panchakol herbs decoction separately made 20 ml each twice a day. Heat a bit Mahavishgarbh oil and massage gently at night over back. Hot bath next morning. Report after a week.

Hello, * go for aerobic exercise under the guidance of physiotherapist. Take homoeo-medicine** @ ruta 1000-6 pills, once a wk @ arnica mont 200-6 pills, thrice a day. @ bellis pernice q -20 drops + olive- oil- take a massage on your shoulder in circulatory movement. Report fortnightly. Stay-fit.

My friend had an accident some years ago. Somehow she felt that she is nt able to stand up. She went fr the treatment. After MRI and XRay. All the reports found to be normal. Bt she still have the pain from the tail bone to the neck regularly. sometimes the pain aggravate so much so that she is nt able to walk properly. Through the reports problem is still nt identified. This appears to be a swelling caused due to infection. You need to consult an ent doctor. Start doing gargle with warm water along with 1 small spoon of salt.

The Causes and Symptoms of Chronic Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is characterized by a feeling of pain around the lumbar region (curve of the back connecting the upper back and glutes- muscles in the buttock that are responsible for thigh movement) caused by muscle or ligament injury. The spinal area is most likely to be affected by lower pain as it may impair routine activities like walking and standing. Any lower back pain that lasts for more than ninety days can be considered as chronic.

Causes of lower back pain

There are plenty of causes for lower back pain. Anything that exposes the lumbar area of the spine to a level of stress beyond its capacity can cause lower back pain. These causes are-

1. Disorders of the discs - The spinal area in the lower back comprises of small bones called the vertebra, which are connected to each other by pieces of cartilage known as discs. These discs act as shock absorbers, and when exposed to excessive shock can cause the disc to bulge, resulting in herniated discs. Wear and tear of the discs can also occur.

2. Spinal stenosis - Spinal stenosis occurs when the area around the spine becomes narrow. It may affect the nerves surrounding the lower back, resulting in pain.

3. Wear and tear of the joints and ligaments - Normal wear and tear of the joints and ligaments cause difficulties in holding the spine in its proper position and this progresses with age. This may cause a vertebra to slide over another and affect the nerve endings, giving rise to pain.

Symptoms of lower back pain

The symptoms of lower back pain are usually a dull or excruciating pain in the lower back. It can also affect other parts of the body such as the hips and the legs. In case of severe pain, simple activities like walking, bending and sitting will be impaired.

Hot fomentation x twice daily. Neck exercises. Neck stretching. Postural correction. Shoulder shrugs. Core strengthening exercises. Take frequent breaks at work use cervical pillow. Use back support. Self massage the back of neck.
