Hello, diabetes mellitus when present for long time and if not well controlled causes a number of chronic complications including peripheral neuropathy. This condition produces pricking and burning sensation in feet. One of the prime requirement is strict blood sugar control like fasting around 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg and hba1c%<6.8. Consistently well controlled diabetes may not produce serious consequences. Plus to reduce the symptoms there are some medications available like methylcobalamine & combinations with other vitamins, plus other drugs. The very concept of heat in the body causing various problems it self is incorrect. Our body is warm, if any extra heat is produced that comes as fever. Thanks for the question.

You must consult your diabetologist. Numbness is caused due to uncontrolled diabetes due to neuropathy. Good control mostly reverses these symptoms. It is not possible to give medicines with examination & full assessment.

Hi, I appreciate you seeking help for your mother. I would advise the following for relief - (a) Physiotherapy treatment with due emphasis on progressive muscle relaxation & strengthening exercise on a regular basis. Even TENS stimulation can help reduce pain sensation here. (b) Swedish massage to be done on both the lower back & the affected leg daily. (c) Include rice bran, carrots, beets, spinach, broccoli, potatoes, tomatoes etc in your diet liberally unless advised by your physician otherwise. (d) Take a good neuro-vitamin, once daily, containing the essential B vitamins B1, B6, B12 and R+ Alpha Lipoic Acid for one month, subject to your doctor's concurrence. (e) Apply 'Rumalaya' (Himalaya) Gel topically, twice daily, on the affected leg & back portion, followed by a heat treatment for a couple of minutes. Should the above-mentioned not help still, you can connect with me for further traction with natural medicines as would deem appropriate in her case. Simultaneously, you cab also take help of a competent chiropractor here who may help out suitably. Hope this helps. Do take care, and all the very best.

Twitching of face hands and legs and sometimes above eyebrows. Is this a sign of paalytic stroke? please help me. Its happening from last one week.

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS

Most commonly twitching of muscle may be because of electrolyte imbalance. Take regular diet. If you sweat more then take ors frequently. It is not paralysis. You will be fine.

I am 39 years old female and frequently attacked by migraine headche. Is there any permanent solution for this?

MD - Pathology
General Physician, Amritsar
Try to find out the trigger in your case. Maintain a diary . whenever you have migraine just take a note of what all you are that day and what you did? After sometime try to find out a common factor and try avoiding that. Usually it is cheese, chocolate, fasting, poor sleep, loud music, dim light. If you have more than 2 attacks in a month or attacks are debilitating, then start preventive treatment, see a psychiatrist

Body Dysmorphic Disorder - How It Can Be Treated?

Body dysmorphic disorder is a type of psychiatric disorder. It is when you cannot think about one or more defects or flaws in your appearance. These flaws are usually very minor and sometimes even unnoticeable. This is actually a much more serious disorder than many other people may think. This is because people with body dysmorphic disease may avoid many situations and also suffer from severe anxiety or shame. Here is everything you need to know about body dysmorphic disease.

Causes
Just like other psychiatric disorders, there is no known cause of body dysmorphic disease. However, there are a lot of factors, which increases your risk of developing it which include:

  1. Brain disorders: Many people with abnormal brain chemistry disorders suffer from body dysmorphic disease.
  2. Genes: People whose blood relatives have this disease or have obsessive compulsive disorder are more likely to develop this disorder as well.
  3. Environment: Cultural and social influences are a major cause of body dysmorphic disorder as well.

Symptoms
There are, however a lot of symptoms of body dysmorphic disorder, most of which are psychological in nature. They include:

  1. Having a preoccupation with a flaw in the body, which is very minor or perhaps even unnoticeable.
  2. Beliefs that people are mocking you in relation to your flaw.
  3. Being a perfectionist

It is also worth noting that this obsession can affect any part of the body and can also include several parts of the body or different parts of the body at different times. Here are the possible treatments of body dysmorphic disorder.

Treatments
There are a variety of treatments, which a patient can opt for and a variety of methods of curing the problem. Here are the most common.

  1. Cognitive behavioral therapy: This is when a therapist tries to stop you from thinking about the flaw that you have been focusing on way too much.
  2. SSRI: SSRI stands for Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors. They are given in cases, where body dysmorphic disorder is caused by problems related to the brain chemical serotonin.
  3. Hospitalization: This is a severe measure, but may need to be taken if you are in danger of harming somebody or you cannot perform daily activities. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a psychologist.

I'm unable to sleep deeply since a week. It's like I take naps in the nights. I was tensed for my studies because of the lengthy course when my exam dates weren't published. But now as they are declared, I feel relaxed but still can't sleep. I don't know the reason. My doctor advised me to meet a psychologist, who has given me some medicines and now I am able to sleep properly as well. My query is that will I get habitual to these medicines and depend upon them throughout my life? Or is it okay to take them? Also suggest me what should I do to sleep properly as when I don't, my head start aching badly as I have migraine too. Suggest me some natural stress relievers as I think stress is the reason for my sleeplessness. Also if you find any other reason please let e know.

Dear Aayushi. Your present problem is stress related. Please understand stress. Stress is simply a reaction to a stimulus that disturbs our physical or mental equilibrium. In other words, it's an omnipresent part of life. A stressful event can trigger the “fight-or-flight” response, causing hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol to surge through the body. A little bit of stress, known as “acute stress,” can be exciting—it keeps us active and alert. But long-term, or “chronic stress,” can have detrimental effects on health. You may not be able to control the stressors in your world, but you can alter your reaction to them. Physical exercise, creative activities, deep breathing, being away from the situation for sometime etc can help you tackle the stress. Stress disorder is usually treated with a combination of psychiatric medicines, psychotherapy, life style changes, meditation and exercise. Once you make the necessary amendments in your life with the help of the above said therapies and life style changes, learn how to manage the depressive episodes without medicines and learn to relax, the medicines can be weaned off over a period of one year. There are no side effects for the medicines and if you continue for more than one month, you will be addicted. Please consult a psychologist online or in person for advise, counseling and therapy. Take care.

Hi Mere bhai ka 12 date ko shaam ko accident ho gya tha so head injury ho gya hai to wo abhi bol nhi paa raha hai to sir wah kitne din baad bol payega.

Homeopath, Raebareli
It will depend on how serious the injury is....usually it takes time to overcome from trauma from 1-7 days in which the patient can express him self. If the trauma/injury is in the speaking center it could get loss and he will not be able to speak... Speak to your Doctor do a MRI brain first before getting into conclusion.
