Hi. It's normal to lose up to 100 hair per day, and in most people, those hairs grow back. But many men -- and some women -- lose hair as they grow older. You can also lose your hair if you have certain diseases, such as thyroid problems, diabetes, or lupus. If you take certain medicines or have chemotherapy for cancer, you may also lose your hair. Other causes are stress, a low protein diet, a family history, use of bore water, or nutritional deficiencies. Need to rule out any causative factor or underlying medical condition. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg, eggs (it's loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, vitamin b12, iron, zinc and omega 6 fatty acids in large amounts and biotin), different pulses & legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. Walnuts and almonds); iron-rich food like green vegetables, dates, carrots, prunes, green peas; also oats, shrimp, take flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take low-fat dairy products (they also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources) take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of hard water to wash the head rather use boiled water for head wash. Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! cover your head with scarf or cap while stepping outside. Use rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regularly massage head and hair with coconut oil, almond oil (depending upon your scalp type) 1 to 3 times a week. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you fit and young! Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200 & Alfalfa tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica hair conditioner as well after every head wash.

The ketaconazole shampoo may help. It is an antifungal shampoo and clears the infection, and sometimes dandruff. If the cause is something else then you may need to treat that.

There are powerful homemade treatments used to remove accident scars naturally without causing any side effects to the skin. 1. mix curd or frozen milk and turmeric. Frozen milk is a good exfoliating agent and it nourishes your skin and leaves your skin glowing once you wash off the paste. If you have a sensitive skin then you can add a few drops of lemon juice and rose water. Facial scars from accidents can be easily removed by using the above mentioned natural home remedies. 2. you can also use the one part of baking soda with two part of water to create a paste. Baking soda is a natural exfoliator and helps in the gentle scraping of the scar tissue layer by layer. Scrub (avoid vigorous rubbing) this paste on your scars for a minute or two and after that you can rinse it off with cold water. 3. Mint juice is also effective to remove old accident scars. You can use the juice of mint on your face leave it for 5 minutes and wash that off. If you are doing the same procedure for a month then you can see visible results. The old accident scars will become lighter in color on regular usage. It is a good practice to apply vitamin E oil on car accident facial scars to fade out spots and scars. Use it before going to sleep every day.

Hi Doctor, I am 14 and I had noticed a bump on my wrist kindly tell me how it has caused and its treatment.
It could be a keloid. Keloids are smooth, raised growths that form around scars. They are most commonly found on the chest, shoulders, and cheeks. Keratosis pilaris is a skin condition marked by an overgrowth of a protein called keratin. It causes small bumps around hair follicles on the body.

Causes and Symptoms of Folliculitis

MBBS, Diploma In Dermatology And Venerology And Leprosy (DDVL), DNB (Dermatology), MNAMS
Dermatologist, Delhi
Causes and Symptoms of Folliculitis

Folliculitis is an ordinary dermatological condition which causes inflammation of hair follicles of the skin. This condition, which occurs due to both bacterial and fungal infections, causes small red or white pimples to form around the hair follicles. The infection, if left untreated, can spread and turn into rough, coarse sores which may take a long time to heal.

The Staphylococcus aureus bacteria is responsible for causing the infection, which leads to this commonly occurring condition. In some cases, folliculitis can be also caused by viruses and fungi which had perhaps penetrated the ingrown hairs causing subsequent inflammation. This condition is categorized and diagnosed as a superficial or deep infection depending on the amount of hair follicles involved.

Causes:

  • Friction caused by shaving or tight - fitting clothes
  • Heat and sweat, due to prolonged exposure to the sun
  • Skin conditions like acne
  • Tightly wrapped bandages or dressings on the skin

Symptoms:

  • Clusters of tiny red or white bumps in and around the hair follicles
  • Reddened and inflamed skin
  • Itchy skin and rashes
  • Pus-filled blisters that may crust and later break
  • Swelling on the skin

Risk Factors:

Anyone, whether young or old, may develop folliculitis. But, there are certain factors that increase the risks of the condition. The following are some of them:

  • Conditions like HIV or AIDS that reduces the immunity in your body
  • A pre-existing condition of acne or dermatitis
  • Being obese
  • Medications and ointments with side effects
  • Improper shaving

Many a times, people ignore this condition, presuming that it will heal with time. But if left untreated, complications such as large itchy patches of skin, increased swelling and heightened inflammation of hair follicles may occur.

always my hairs are falling Severely from the front side only. please give me a solution for it.
Hair fall is due to infection in scalp skin or hormonal effects also sometimes its genetic cause, if infective then easily goes into hairs follicles & its root and results in hair fall, for control on hair fall you have to control on infections, medicines takes time to remove infections due to less blood supply in scalp skin. But fully curable with proper medicines and care.

There's a group of herbs categorised under 'keshya gana' which act for such problems very specifically provided these are processed in pure seasame oil esp Black seeds and Eclipta prostrata herb. Some powders of Myrobalans and Indian gooseberry also reverse greying. Diet play a role as also 'sheershasan' and Almonds/ nuts eating. If you require, pkgs are customised for individual needs.

Hi. My question is about dermaroller Which kind of dermaroller shud use in old stretch marks N how many times a month Can I use regularly? What is the ideal size of needle.

MD - Alternate Medicine, BHMS
Homeopath, Surat
1. First make the right choice of the length of the micro-needle you plan to according to your skin condition. 2. Wash thoroughly your hands and face before the procedure, rub well all areas to remove bacterias. 3. You need to use any cream which makes your skin moist. 4. For the most sensitive patients a topical numbing cream can be used. 5. The Derma Roller should be used with short rolling movements. These have to be meticoulously done, in orderly manner and without leaving a centimeter of skin without rolling. Homogeneity and uniformity of strikes, all performed with same strenght and pressure on the device, will assure a smooth result. Follow 3 steps of needling to enhance the forming of the micro-channels. You have to roll in 3 directions on each area of your face: Horizontally, vertically, and diagonal around 7 to 15 times on each movement. Don’t roll twice on a previously treated area on the same session. 6. Apply a cool mask or cold packs after a Derma Roller session. It has the effect of easing and eliminating post-session redness. 7. Use of a moisturizing serum is advisable 8. Use a sun blocking cream during 7 days after the procedure. 9. Allow an interval of 4-6 weeks between the procedures to get good results. 10. Other procedures such as subcision, punch elevation may need to be combined for optimal results in acne scars. Clean the Derma roller: Wash thoroughly your dermaroller unit, with water and soap. Brush away any residual debris after using it. Then soak about 5-8 minutes with 90% alcohol, or use ultraviolet to disinfect for about 45 minutes. You can also use a cold sterilizer like Clorexhidine solution. Do not use chlorine, autoclaves, steam and high temperature sterilization methods. Cautions: 1) Do not share the unit with other people 2) Do not roll too much more than indicated time. If skin shows hypersensitive response, consult with your doctor. 3) Keep the micro needle part always clean and dry 4) Store in a safe place out of the reach of children.
