Can Your Fridge Make You Sick?

Did you know your health could depend on how clean your fridge is? The person's fridge can be the marker of his good health or his bad health.  Most of the times, people neglect cleaning their fridge or just randomly stock up their fridge without organizing the food in correct compartments. An unclean refrigerator can contribute to spoilage of food and drinks due to an unhygienic environment.

The following measures can make you healthy: 

  1. Temperature Control: Make sure you control the temperature of your refrigerator from time to time according to the storage requirements of the foods. Lack of temperature control can make your fridge a breeding ground for harmful bacteria and viruses. Milk products and meat have certain storage requirements therefore, temperature control is recommended to prevent spoilage and allows you to use food in the proportion required and store the rest. 
  2. Organization of Foods: Storing the foods in correct compartments can actually keep them fresh for a long time. It is wise to organize the storage of your foods in a way so that the ones which are highly perishable are kept in the coldest area. Keep milk products, vegetables and poultry in separate places to avoid food spills. Make sure you store the foods in proper containers so that they don't drip and mix with other food. 
  3. Prevent Growth of Bacteria: Cleaning your fridge is of vital importance to prevent the growth of bacteria or any other virus. An unclean refrigerator can induce growth of parasites thereby increasing the risk of food poisoning and other problems. Fermentation or frequent curdling of milk products can be a sign of an unclean fridge. Make sure you clean your fridge regularly to avoid contamination of your food.
  4. Get Rid of Expired or Rotten Food: Cleaning the refrigerator on a regular basis can help you get rid of expired foods and rotten vegetables. It often happens that food gets spoilt inside the fridge due to lack of temperature control, improper storage or simply because it was left inside for a long time. It is best to check the contents of your fridge routinely and get rid of any food which gives out a stink or has changed color in ordered to keep the other foods in good condition.

 The above points will ensure you eat more healthy and in turn, will result in a better overall health!

As your periods are normal you need not worry much about it. The pain will be present for some girls of your age, you can take tablet cyclopam one or two in a day depending up on the severity of the stomach, which will give relief to the stomach pain and vomiting. Over a period of time usually after your marriage these episodes will stop. Good luck.

I just recently got hit very hard with a sudden cold, and every time I blow my nose there's always blood on my tissue? Is my nose bleeding whilst having a cold normal? And I don't mean profusely. But pretty much every time I blow my nose it's bleeding. Do's & Do not's.

Hi lybrate-user nasal bleeding due to forceful nose blowing is common. *avoid nose blowing. Use a nasal drop with decongestant. Use an antibiotic ointment inside your nose. Start a antibiotic. Stop touching your nose. Take rest have plenty of water. If a large amount of blood comes urgent consultation may be required. Hope this helps

I am residing in kuwaitand am from mumbai. I am 51 yrs I am 51 51 yrs ild and pure vegetarian jain. My weight is 85 kgs. I have high BP like 180/190 for which I am taking 1 tab a day zestril (astrazeneca) 20 mg, I have cholesterol in liver for which I take lipanthyl (recipharm contain) 145 mg, my blood sugar at fasting is 200. I have high TG in blood for which I take proton (pantoprazole) 40 mg, I have slip disk problem in L4 and L5, which cause lot of pain and always swelling at back, pls suggest me what to eat and what to do to improve my health condition. Dear lipanthyl is for your high tg, zestril is for your bp. I suggest you to make changes in your lifestyle. Reduce the quantity of salt. Avoid processed foods. Increase the quantity of green leafy vegggies. I guess your lifestyle must be sedentary in kuwait. Have your food early. Before sunset if pssible. It will definitely help you. Once you come to mumbai. You can see me. Will try to help you.

You should never stop your medication unbless the doctor has advised so. YOu have to go through a course to get fully healed. Besides that I suspect that you may not have combined counseling along with the medication. This is very critical to your recovery. Take cognisance of the following advice: 'You are suffering from poor self-confidence and poor self-image. There is abnormal fear and it could do with some contribution from your upbringing. Perhaps you experienced strict parenting; or you were intimidated by dire consequences for failure; perhaps you were brought up believing that you were not as good as others; perhaps you were forced to show undue regard for elders and felt inferior around them, etc. You must immediately seek help from a counselor. In the meantime you must do certain things to build your constitution physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. Mental stability can be achieved by learning a few skills in handling emotions in an appropriate manner. Stress management skills, which have a lot to do with expressing emotions, will need to be a major part of your recovery program. Emotionally you need the help of a counselor and that will help you tremendously to move from anxiety to normal fear. Please persevere and cooperate through all the support you need and you will come through successfully. Develop your body’s health by physical fitness through exercise, good rest (sleep), and a proper diet. Any way what you need to focus on is to do vigorous exercise of the aerobic kind for the heart’s fitness; meditation for the brain’s fitness; sleep for a well rested mind and body; a sound spiritual well being for good confidence and stability; and a diet with lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Vigorous exercise, especially of the callisthenic kind, will make your heart, which is a muscle, grow larger; and then your heart will need to beat less often and you will respond to the anxiety with a calmer disposition. If your mind, constitution, and your emotions are in check and fit, you will never be disturbed again. You need to attend personality development courses, personal grooming courses, conversational skills courses, and definitely a good education will empower you to boost self-confidence and by default self-image. Learn never to compare yourself with others: you are unique and there is only one of your kind, ever. If you let that sink in and appreciate who you are truly, you will go places.

Dear , follow these important tips to get fair colour of skin * avoid to go in strong sunlight and if you have to go in sunlight then cover your face & exposed parts of body before going in sunlight. * Use sunscreen having SPF 15 on face especially in summer and spring season. * Take vitamin -E rich foods like dry fruits, egg and fish as you like. You can take cord liver oil capsule daily. * Take more anti oxidant foods like fruits (Apple, grapes, melon) and citrus fruits. * Make paste of Papaya and apply this paste on face & exposed body parts and leave it for 15 minutes. It brightens the skin and lower melanin content. *• Apply one teaspoon of honey for 30 minutes and wash it off . • Apply one teaspoon Besan with one teaspoon of curd and a pinch of haldi (turmeric) mix it with water then apply for 15 minutes then rinse off it with water .

Neck pain occurs due to wrong posture or due to strain on your neck muscle. Check your posture, do not bend your neck excessively and when you work on your laptop or computer after half hour of working move your neck slowly in clockwise and anticlockwise direction. * do neck massage with lukewarm mustard oil. * do not take pillow of high hight during sleeping or avoid to take pillow. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal, b complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

To clear the scar marks - • Apply one teaspoon Besan with one teaspoon of curd and a pinch of haldi (turmeric) mix it with water then apply for 15 minutes then rinse off it with water . • Apply one teaspoon orange juice or take a piece of orange open it then apply that area for 5 minutes then rinse off it. *Take fuller, s earth (multani mitti) and sandalwood powder (chandan powder) mixed in same quantity mixed in water and apply on the mark in night and wash it after 1 hour. It will slowly removes the marks. *Take a piece of aloe vera. Apply gel of leaves on mark daily. Wash it after 30 minutes.

Remedial exercises 

Backache is a complex problem. It has multifactorial aetiology. There are many exercises that are used as an adjunct to its treatment. Here, some of the exercises useful in the management of backache are described. It is not a complete list. Many more can be added to it. As a matter of fact white charting out the exercise programme for an individual suffering from backache; one should take into account the exact cause of backache, age, the built of the body and even the mental attitude of the patient. The exercises should be done slowly and increased gradually. During exercise, sudden jerks should be avoided. Most of the cases of backache fortunately settle down with simple remedial exercises.

Some of the cases do not respond satisfactorily. It is these -who pose a baffling problem. Many methods have been tried in the past & new ones are being discovered with the hope that this oldest problem of mankind  the aching back, the most common yet intractable, is solved.

The actual treatment of backache lies in the therapeutic exercises only 

They act by: 

(a) improving the muscle tone. (b) improving the muscle power. (c) regaining the mobility of the joints and elasticity of the ligaments. (ligaments are the natural hinges like those of doors which control the direction of the movement of a joint). The usual remedial spinal exercises are:
