My age is 29 & my height is 5'0 and my weight is 67 kg how much weight is excess and how much weight I have to loss because I have pain in two legs toe when I walk I have no pain but when I seat and stand it starts heavy pain and when I wake up in the morning it is having heavy pain in the toe I can't stand properly.

You need to loose 10-15 kgs weight but in a slow and gradual way.If there is any burning sensation and swelling in the toes,then get your uric acid levels tested.

Mr. Lybrate-user, the problem could be damge to blood vessels supplying to lower limb. To confirm how serious is the problem it is essential to get a colour doppler test as well as angeiography of lower limb vessels. With that it is possible to asses the extent of blood supply. Plus it is vital to have excellent blood sugar control with fasting near 100 mg and pp 150 to 160 mg and hba1c% <7. You are very young, so get these investigations and consult a vascular surgeon along with your diabetologist.

(a) sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. (b) use no pillow under the head. (c) kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days (d) do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises (e) make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take (f) do not ignore it. It could be beginning of a serious problem. (g) if no relief in 4_5 days, then contact me again.

I got severe backpain aftr mi second baby birth bcuz it ws operated scissoring. Starts paining in middle point in back. I can not sit on d floor fr d long tim by folding mi legs. May b its bcuz of tht injection givn on mi back during mi baby birth. Also d doctor also told me tht you ll get d pain nd you hav tu face it till I lasts. What Gives You Stress Fractures?

The miniscule cracks in a bone are known as stress fractures. This type of fracture is caused by persistent application of force, mostly due to overuse. Activities like jumping or running up and down for long distances can also cause the condition. A normal bone weakened due to osteoporosis is another reason for stress fractures. Rigorous or excessive exercise can cause this condition as well.

These types of fractures are common in the lower leg and foot as these are the weight bearing bones. Field athletes and sportsperson are susceptible to stress fractures.

Some of the causes of this fracture are:

- Frequent application of a huge amount of force, greater than what the bones of a person's lower legs and feet can bear can cause this type of fracture. This force causes an imbalance between resorption and the growth of bone.

- If the bones are continually subjected to force without being given adequate time to recover, then the body tends to reabsorb bone cells faster than they can be replaced. These fatigued bones, when subjected to repetitive force, may cause tiny cracks which can turn into stress fractures.

Stress fractures usually occur in the metatarsal bones in the foot, heel bone, shin bone, thigh bone, and pubic rami of the pelvis among many other bones in the body.

Some of the symptoms of stress fractures may include:

- Pain
- Swelling in the affected area
- The area may grow tender and the crack usually increases while the foot is at rest

X-rays are the common methods of diagnosis. If left untreated, these fractures can lead to chronic pain.

Dear you can follow these methods for relief from backache (back pain): * first correct your sitting posture. Do not bend your lower back. You can use lumber belt for support. * do regular back strength exercises. Move your clockwise and anticlock wise. * do not sleep on very soft bed, sleep on slight hard cotton mattress. * do tadasana and bhjangasana for back strengthening. If you can not understand these asans you can consult me. Surya namaskar is also best asan in back pain. * take calcium rich diet and calcium and vitamin d supplements regularly. *do not take any heavy weight or heavy work. * if you are over weight then follow a good and effective diet plan to loose some kilos of weight. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hello lybrate user according to Ayurveda Vata vikriti is the main factor for pain.... may b muscles r weak in your legs due to which improper blood circulation is there. Take hot and cold fermentation 1 min each for 5 reps. keep your legs elevated while sitting on chair or bed. u have to do this hot and cold fermentation 2 or 3 times a day, and for 1 week. If you feel better fine, otherwise see a good physiotherapist near by u. Thank you.

Hello start physiotherapy treatment and learn posture care/ spine exercise. Meanwhile take few precautions. 1) take hot water fomentation for 20 min. At every 3hrs. Interval. 2) do not lift heavy weights or twist your spine 3) do not wear high heals do not ignore your back pain and do reply for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. Best wishes.

It needs to be investigated. Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

What are the reasons for low bone density? and also what we should do to get rid of this problem?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Low bone density has many causes: it is common in females after menopause because of hormonal changes, in both sexes bone density decreases with increasing age because bone degradation is more as compared to formation. It is also secondary to many diseases like diabetes, thyroid disorders and many more smokers have low density, so there are various reasons for it. Medically it is advisable to keep yourself physically fit, so regular exercises and walks is important as it leads to good bone turnover and keeps bones healthy, adequate calcium and vitamin d in body is important for bone metabolism. Also diets rich in calcium like milk and milk products, fresh fruits and vegetables etc should be taken. Hamstring Stretch Lie on your back with your left leg flat on the floor. Loop a towel or rope around your right foot and pull your leg as far as comfortable toward your chest, while keeping a slight bend at the knee. Keep your back pressed to the floor throughout the stretch. Hold for 10 to 30 seconds and then release. Repeat 3 or 4 times with each leg. Do this stretch 5 or 6 times a week. Short-Arc Knee Extensions In the same starting position as the straight-leg raises, put a ball (about the size of a basketball) under your left knee so that your leg is bent. Slowly straighten your leg. Hold, then slowly lower. Repeat with your right leg. Exercises To Avoid A few of the following exercises can be done safely if you have chronic knee problems; they're on this list because they're more likely to be done improperly. The exercises above are safer, while still giving you similar results. •Full-arc knee extensions •Lunges •Deep squats •Hurdler's stretches.
