Hi. Thanks for your query- avoid heighted and hard pillows. Use soft pillow which may elevate your head to 5-10 degree. Aply move on your neck. Also if persistant- neck x-ray and follow up.

Hello lybrate-user, You want to commit suicide because of health issues I really pity you for your thoughts. What a joy to have children and six year old son wow. How much naughty he would be. Enjoy your life looking at him. No one can love your child like you do. Who will be there to fulfill your duty towards your son. God has given you this son because he knew you'll be the best who can bring him up as a big boy. And coming to your health issues please meet a Physiotherapist for a knee pain. Your pain will come down within 5-7 days start exercising go out for walks. If you are in Bangalore please meet would definitely help you out.

Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily – Lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana? Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

I am 60 and diabetic. I have a pain on the back at hip and my family physician opined that it is a neurological issue related to my diabetic condition and advised me to do exercises. Since last 1 month I go for regular brisk morning walk for about 45-50 minutes. But still there is not relief. Please advise.

Diabetes must be controlled & rule out vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days caldikind plus (mankind) 1 tab odx10days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do ask for detailed treatment plan. Don? t ignore, lest it becomes starting point of a major problem.

Goodmorning mam I have understood your question. Firstly you develop a good posture while sitting standing. Then when your sleeping make sure you put a pillow under your knees. That will reduce the stress and load on the spinal column. Secondly if your pain continues please go in for a session of ift treatment physiotherapy for your back. Please avoid extension of back. You should make sure of taking adequate rest for your back too. Do not worry your pain will come down slowly with all those precautions.

I am 20 years old, I am facing emotional outbursts since last few months, I suffer from lack of sleep n restless sleep and sudden obesity. I feel sadness all the time and it has become hard for me to be happy in the most comfortable moments also. I start crying really soon even on petty situations and I have become over aggressive. and often suicidal thoughts cloud my mind. I am facing severe back and leg pain these days and chronic headaches. I fail to understand what to do. I have tried yoga and meditation but it's not helping.

You have symptoms of depression. Depression can cause body pains and headaches (psychosomatic) and vice versa. It's good that you have insight into your problems and asking for help. Consult a local psychiatrist and take medication. This will improve your mood related problems and pains too. If pain persists even after depressive symptoms have gone, consult a pain specialist too. Don't worry you will do great.

Your pain is only related to your muscles like quadriceps, hamstring, calf etc. Main muscle is vmo. You should do flexibility and strengthening exercises. Thr r many exercises starts with isometric to isotonic, resistance or thrraband exercises, etc its not easy to explain all exercises in writing so please visit nearer physiotherapist doctor. You need to do some ergonomic changes in sitting, (don't sit on floor, stair climbing (go up with good leg first and than painful one and while coming down (descending) vice versa. Take some support while getting up from the seated position. Use western toilet, use foot rest while working in office or computer work. Don't work in single position for long time (more than half an hour)

this is postural pain.u should modify ur way of working like alter ur computer table and chair make 45 degree angle between ur neck and screen of computer and do daily back extension NAD neck exercises

Lying and Resting During an Episode of Back Pain

Some people have low back pain when they are lying resting in certain positions. 

A few people have low back pain only when they lie down. Many people with low back pain feel worse when they are lying down and dread the thought of another night with more back pain and less sleep. If you have low back pain only when lying down, or if you regularly wake in the morning with a stiff and painful low back that was not painful the night before, there is likely to be something wrong with the surface on which you are lying or the position in which you sleep.

 It is a comparatively easy task to correct the surface on which you are lying, but rather difficult to influence the position you adopt while sleeping. 

Once you are asleep, you may regularly change your position or toss and tum. Unless a certain position causes so much discomfort that it wakes you, you have no real idea of the various positions you assume while sleeping .Many people with back problems are told never to lie face down when in bed. There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that this is harmful to the back. 

On the contrary, it may well be that your back ceases to be painful in the face-down position. If you have not already discovered the effects of lying face down, you should experiment to see what effect this has on your problem the next time you experience pain while lying. Certainly there are some low back problems that are aggravated by lying in this way. If you have sciatica, lying face down is nearly always impossible.

  Correction of Surface

There are two simple ways in which you may be able to reduce strains on your low back caused by a faulty lying position:

The first and most important way is to lie with a supportive roll around  your waist. This roll will support your low back as you re stand will prevent strain that can develop when you lie on your side or back.You may purchase a lumbar night roll specifically made for the purpose from the agents listed at the back of this book. You will need to supply them with your waist measurement and advise them how much you weigh. Alternatively, you may substitute a rolled beach or bath towel. Fold the towel in half from end to end then roll in from the side. This will create a roll of about 3 inches  in diameter and 3 feet  in length. Wind the roll around your waist, and fix it in front with a safety pin to ensure that it remains in place where you normally wear your belt; otherwise, the roll will move up  or down during your sleep, it may actually increase your night pain. The measurements given above are merely a guide; lumbar supports need to fulfill individual requirements, and each person must experiment for himself. You can follow the general rule that when you lie on your side, the roll should fill the natural hollow in the body contour between pelvis and rib cage; and when you lie on your back, the roll should support the low back in moderate lordosis.

The second way is to ensure that your mattress does not sag. The mattress itself should not be too hard; in fact, a soft mattress can be extremely comfortable provided it is placed on a firm support. To ensure that your mattress is supported on a firm hard surface, it is best to place it on the floor and spend three to four nights sleeping in this way to determine if this is the source of the problem. Avoid a bed with a wire base and use a solid base instead , with a rubber or inner spring mattress on top of it.If you have tried these  suggestions without benefit, you should consult a health provider trained in this specialty.It may be that you require special advice regarding the surface on which you lie or the posture you assume while sleeping. It may also be possible that you need special treatment for your low back problems.
