I have kidney stone problem from last 1 month. What should I do to remove it or get relief from this pain?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

I have kidney stone problem from last 1 month. What should I do to remove it or get relief from this pain?
Tips for removing kidney stones: 1. Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, cold drinks, pickles, fish, poultry, meat, spinach, and chocolate. 2. Avoid sour, heavy, and dry food. 3. Increase intake of liquids like water, juice, soup, lime water lemon soda etc. 4. Be sure to drink enough water each day. Usually 1 to 2 liters of water per day is adequate. 5. Drink more if you are perspiring heavily, working outdoors, the weather is hot, etc. 6. Increase the use of barley, horse gram (a type of bean), ginger, and brown rice or parboiled rice. 7. Avoid suppressing urges to urinate and defecate. 9. Boil 10-12 basil leaves in 1 cup of water for 15 minutes. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey in it and take twice a day. Pls send your usg report becoz medication for stones depends upon size no and location of stones.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Excess thirst and more urination is normally a sign of diabetes. So to confirm whether you have it or not, please get a fasting, Pp blood glucose and HbA1c% done. That will clarify the doubt. If the blood glucose is above 126 mg fasting and > 200 mg Pp & HbA1c %>6.5 then diabetes is confirmed. Thanks.

The urine is coming out with slight reddish color from the past three days. What should i do?
Dear , first get urine tested so that one can confirm presence of rbcs and also rule out infection. Also get usg with full bladder volume, bladder wall thickness on full bladder and post-void residual urine volume measurement to confirm or rule out any problem in urinary system.

Dear simplest way to treat bulbar urethral stricture is by urethral dilatation which may need repeating time and again. If you are looking for semipermanent treatment is viu which is an endoscopic procedure which can also be done under local anaesthesia.

I have read your message. I think I can help you. The best solution for uti remains antibiotics. However since you are reluctant to take antibiotics I will tell you about other measures. Please remember that these measures are usually just additional measures. 1 . take a urine alkaliniser like alkasol syrup. 2. plenty of fluids. 3. plenty of cranberry juice. 4. clean laundry. Avoid spices alcohol . I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in the message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem.

Sperms and urine have a common passage out through the urethra. In presence of weakness of the bladder neck, certain medications and when urine is given immediately after ejaculation for analysis, sperms can be found in the urine sample. Usually it is not a cause of worry, but presence of pus cells if more than 2 may require culture and sensitivity analysis of urine and treatment with antibiotics.

I am 39 years old male and I am suffering from fissure for the past 40 days. I am getting homeopathic treatment. After one week I had opted for a new doctor as there was no relief after meeting the first doctor. I haven't taken any tests but both the doctors on inquiring me came to the conclusion that it's fissure. I am not bleeding and able to pass stools a bit freely. After passing stools I am feeling severe irritation/burning sensation inside and around the anal area. The medicine seems to give relief but it is resurfacing again and again. I am giving sits bath twice a day. I don't want to go under the knife. I am following a very strict diet avoiding spice and tamarind. Please leave your suggestions so that I can get instant and permanent relief.

MS
General Surgeon, Panipat

Urinary Infection - Causes And Treatment!

Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery, MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS

Urinary Infection - Causes And Treatment!

Urinary tract infection is a widespread disorder that most of the human beings face, especially in later stages of their lives. Women who are sexually active are more prone for this infection.

The symptoms that are identified with urinary tract infection are frequent urination, pain and burning sensation at the time of passing urine. In certain cases, women even experience leaking of urine while sleeping. It is advised not to take this condition casually as it can lead to further complications. Medications need to be taken to reduce the discomfort and treat the infection.

Causes and predisposing factors of Urinary Infection:

  1. Urinary tract infection is mostly caused by bacteria.
  2. Sexual intercourse, pregnancydiabetes and stones in urinary tract predispose to or aggravate urinary tract infection.
  3. Chances of urinary tract infection are more if a person has sex with many partners.
  4. In postmenopausal women, incidence of urinary tract infection is more due to depletion of certain hormones.
  5. Women should not hold back the urge for urinating frequently, as it makes one prone to infection.

Management of Urinary Tract Infection:

There are simple and helpful home remedies that can supplement management of urinary tract infection: The latter alone are not enough. You have to consult Doctor for proper treatment of this condition. Certain supportive measures that one can take in cases of urinary tract infection are as follows:

  1. It is very necessary to drink enough water, as it would help flush the bacteria from the bladder that cause the infection. It is advisable to drink at least 80 ounces of water on a daily basis.
  2. Spicy foods and bladder irritants like caffeine, carbonated drinks and artificial sweeteners should preferably be cut off from the diet.
  3. Include healthy foods in your diet that are high on fibre and helpful in digestive health of your body.
  4. It is advisable to adopt healthier habits and quit smoking. One should wear loose clothing and make use of personal hygiene products that are free from any fragrance.
  5. At times, there is burning, pressure, and pain around pubic area in cases of urinary tract infection. Applying a heating pad helps soothe the area. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.
