I am 19 year old girl and my height is 5'2" and weight 40 kgs. I am vegetarian. Please suggest me ways to gain weight.
Dear you can easily gain weight by following these best things - 1. To gain weight, your digestion should work properly. If you have any disease of digestive system you should treat disease first. For proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. Or take 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper (kali mirch), 1/ 2 tea spoon of jeera (cumin), 2-3 slice of ginger. Boil it in one glass of water for 2-3 minutes. Drink 5-10 teaspoons (15-20 ml) in morning and evening for strong digestive system. Or you can take amla powder 1 teaspoon with water for strong digestion. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calorie food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. I am sending the diet chart. Follow it in your daily life to fastly gain weight * in morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of protein powder with breakfast. * in lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. * in evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 2 bananas. * in night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3. In morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. 4. For proper weight, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. 5. Avoid soft drinks, western fast food (burgers, french fries, pizza etc. They disturb your digestion. 6. You can try protein powders like endura mass, milk powder, soya protein. And creatinine for weight gain by taking 1 tea spoon added in milk once a day.

Hi, I am 31 years old. My body weight is 81kg & height is 175cm. I look average and not fatty. Blood results are okay and I am dust allergic only. I use only Foracort 100 rotacap once a day. I am quite okay with this. But the real problem is body weight. Some people say it is bone weight and can not be controlled. I am having problems with this weight. If I walk or run for 1-2 mins I will be exhausted, leg pains, ankle stress etc. My eating habits are healthy-as non veg I consume only eggs. I do not eat fish or meat/meat products. I like to do exercise and develop good looking body, but bcos of this weight I can not do anything for more than 10 mins or so. My weight is not hereditary as my parents have normal weights. Pls advice on how can I bring down my weight to 60-65 kgs. Thanks in advance.

Bone weight can not be reduced. But mass weight you can reduce by taking proper diet. You should avoid fatty oily a. Salt intake: maximum five gm per day. B. Drink luke water two glass atleast. J. Exercise atleast 6 minutes daily 2 minutes revolve all joints clockwise and anticlockwise wise five time each 2 minutes run on the spot in full speed 2 minutes deep breathing exercise. Guidelines for a Healthy Diabetic diet& B. P There is no common diet that works for everyone. Nor is there any particular diet that works perfectly for any diabetic over a long period of time. While planning to control diabetes naturally, we should adhere to certain important factors such as: Increase fibre in your diet, preferably up to 25-30 gms per day. You can do this easily by eating whole grains, whole pulses, nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables. You can also take one tablespoon of isabgol daily to increase fibre intake To help control your blood sugar level, eat about the same amount of carbohydrates every day, spaced throughout the day. If you eat more or less carbohydrates than usual at a given meal or from day to day, your blood sugar level may fluctuate every day and also through the day. Instead of 3 heavy meals, you should go for 4-5 small mid intervals. Avoid refined foods like white rice, maida, dessert, soft drinks, chocolates, sugar and foods rich in fat. Consume a variety of fresh fruit and green vegetables, at least 5-6 exchanges per day. Eat some sprouts every day. They are rich in protein, calcium and nutrients that help increase immunity and balance blood sugar. If you have diabetes, you're at increased risk of heart disease and stroke. That's because diabetes can accelerate the development of clogged and hardened arteries. Get no more than 5-7 percent of your daily calories from saturated fat, and try to avoid trans-fat completely. Try to limit your consumption of fats to mono-unsaturated fats — such as olive oil or canola oil Stress produces a hormone cortisol which can slow down your immune system. Stress triggers free radical damage and can upset blood sugar levels. Adopt relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga, listening to music or taking a short holiday. Take some antioxidants like vitamin A, C, E and selenium. Certain minerals like zinc, chromium, selenium and magnesium help to control blood sugar imbalances. Certain herbs available in pharmacies are especially good in controlling diabetes. `Karneem’ made from karela is one such herb. A syrup made from “jamun” known as “jambukasav” is another such herb which help to control blood sugar. Exercise regularly for 30-40 minutes every day. Related Article: How to Manage Diabetes in Elderly People A typical diabetic meal plan would be: - Breakfast 1 cup green tea 1 tsp methi seed powder 2 tbsp. Roasted oat bran or wheat flakes with 100 ml skim milk/ dalia 1 apple or a bowl of papaya 5-6 almonds Lunch 2 slices of whole wheat bread or bran chappaties 2 cups cooked vegetables & 1 cup curd Salad (tomatoes, cucumber, cabbage, onion, mix sprouts) Tea 1 vegetable juice (dudhi+ mint) 2-3 wheat biscuits or popcorn or a handful of roasted chana. Dinner Clean vegetable soup, Soya chunks 1 bowl rajhma or kabuli channa 2 cups cooked green vegetables/ Fish (100 gms- grilled or steamed) twice a week 2 slices of whole wheat bread or 2 jowar chapattis Follow this diet for the next two weeks. If you are suffering from any medical problems or are under any medications, then please consult your family physician before starting any diet.

8 Types Of Abdominal Incisions You Should Know!

8 Types Of Abdominal Incisions You Should Know!

At the time of a surgical procedure, while making an incision a doctor has to take care of a number of factors before making an incision. Considering a number of factors, different types of incisions have come into fore, such as

  1. Midline Incision: It’s the commonest incision and is done along the linea alba (fibrous structure running through the mid of the abdomen). These are preferred, especially in diagnostic laparotomy as it permits a wide access to the abdomen.
  2. Pfannenstiel Incision: It is transverse in nature, extending from the umbilicus to the pubic-symphysis. It is generally employed for abdominal hysterectomy of benign nature and cesarean section (c-section).
  3. Chevron Incision: It is an incision under the rib-cage and is done on the abdomen. It starts from beneath the ribs on the right abdomen and extends till the other mid axillary line. Thus, the entire abdominal width is incised for proper reach into the liver. The incision can be up to 2 feet.
  4. Kustner Incision: It is transverse in nature and extends from the symphysis pubis till the iliac spine (anterior). This type of incision takes time to perform. A Pfannenstiel incision offers more exposure than a Kustner incision.
  5. Lanz Incision: It is a variation of the more common mcburney-incision (also known as Gridiron’s incision). It is generally used for open appendectomies. There are quite a few variations for this type of an incision.
  6. Gridiron’s incision: It is done for appendectomies. It is an oblique short incision which is done in the lower right quadrant in the abdomen.
  7. Kocher’s Incision: It is oblique in nature, extending from the abdominal upper right quadrant and is generally used for performing an open cholecystectomy. Gallbladder, biliary tract and certain liver operations can be suited for a Kocher’s incision. This however is different from the same named incision used for the thyroid gland surgery.
  8. Cherney Incision: It is transverse in nature. It allows a great range of exposure for the pelvic sidewall. It is less painful than a midline incision. It allows for the greatest pelvic exposure and hence is a widely preferred and practiced incision. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a general surgeon.
