Krishmoorthy, Please have your dad investigated by urologist for prostate problem. Regarding his symptom of "falling down" often - I would recommend that you first Check his Vit D levels and get in touch with me for optimizing the same. Also may be a good idea to have a neurlogical assessment.

I am a 55 year old daibetic female, I want to lose weight in a month, present weight is 69 kg. Please advice.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. Some tips 1) drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take ? of your total as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity.

My mother age is 53 she have sugar above 300 what she wanna do to bring it to normal.
Mr S Harish, The sugar level mentioned is very high, needs appropriate treatment. I need to know some more details like - Fasting and PP sugar levels (current), HbA1c%, present treatment with dosage of each drug, her weight, height, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise. It is better if you come in a private conversation with all the details, because in this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines.

I want to know that what is the between treatment of a diabetes patient forty five years old.

I want to know that what is the between treatment of a diabetes patient forty five years old.
Mr Prashant, I am unable to understand your question. However, I am giving some explanation which may help. For T2 DM (which is usually seen older persons) can be treated by oral anti diabetic drugs or with Insulin injections or at times both are used together for better control. In addition exercise and diet control are also equally important. Because extra weight and inactivity both contribute to diabetes. Plus it is necessary to avoid sweets, direct sugar, deep fried foods, junk foods and pastries. Also person has refrain from red meat, egg yolk, alcohol and smoking.

My Father is suffering from High Sugar and High BP after the treatment of 2 year in this field so please suggest me how.

My Father is suffering from High Sugar and High BP after the treatment of 2 year in this field so please suggest me how.
Once the fasting blood sugar is more then 126 mg/dl and pp blood sugar is more then 200 mg/dl, patient is diabetic and diabetes can be controlled only by medication and can't be cured. The same os with blood pressure once it crosses the prehypertensive state B.P>140/90 medicines can control it but can not revert it back to normal.

My father is a diabetes patient since 7 years and he is taking insulin since 4 years. I am his son and I am the only one who can give insulin to my dad but now I want my father to take insulin by himself. So I want to get him insulin pen so that he can easily take it. My dad has been prescribed with Human Mixtard 30/70 insulin, so I would like to know which insulin pen would be compatible with it and how to use it. Is all the insulin pen compatible with any insulin liquid?

Mr. lybrate-user, There is brand by name "Mixtard 30/70 InnoLet 3 ml injection. Usually concerned company persons do visit and explain how to use the Insulin Pens. So while buying it from the local chemist ask him to send the particular company representative to demonstrate the usage. The cartridges are 3 ml while vial is bigger. So please get all the details before switching over. Pens are definitely much easier to use. Thanks.

I' m not suffering from pcod, epilepsy or blood sugar. I' m taking folic acid and ecospirin 75 daily and taking caldikind(cholecalciferol) sachets once a week. Please let me know if there' s anything serious.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS

125 mcg dose was a bit high to start with. Ecospirin is not to be given with hypothyroidism. And 4 sachets will suffice for vit d. Please consult for proper advanced management. Dr surbhi agrawal consultant physician and diabetologist
