I am 26 years old male and have problem of sweating on palms and feet in winters, please suggest the reason and the medication needed for the same.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Heavy sweating (also known as hyperhidrosis) is a very real and embarrassing problem, but there are some effective ways to treat it. What Is Hyperhidrosis? Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is a common disorder which produces a lot of unhappiness. An estimated 2-3% of people suffer from excessive sweating of the underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis) or of the palms and soles of the feet (palmoplantar hyperhidrosis). Underarm problems tend to start in late adolescence, while palm and sole sweating often begins earlier, around the age 13 (on the average). Untreated, these problems may continue throughout life. Sweating is embarrassing, it stains clothes, ruins personal contact, and complicates business and social interactions. Severe cases can have serious practical consequences as well, making it hard for people who suffer from it to hold a pen, grip a car steering wheel, or shake hands. Causes OF Hyperhidrosis:- Although neurologic, endocrine, infectious, and other systemic diseases can sometimes cause hyperhidrosis, most cases occur in people who are otherwise healthy. Heat and emotions may trigger hyperhidrosis in some, but many who suffer from hyperhidrosis sweat nearly all their waking hours, regardless of their mood or the weather. Antiperspirants This may be the first treatment that a dermatologist recommends. It is affordable. When applied as directed, an antiperspirant can be effective. Your dermatologist may recommend a regular or clinical-strength antiperspirant. Some patients need a stronger antiperspirant and receive a prescription for one. Iontophoresis (the no-sweat machine) If excessive sweating affects your hands, feet, or both areas, this may be an option. You will use this treatment at home. It requires you to immerse your hands or feet in a shallow pan of tap water. As you do this, a medical device sends a low-voltage current through the water. Many people obtain relief. Some people dislike that this treatment can be time-consuming. Uses: Hands and feet It works by the electric current shuts down the treated sweat glands temporarily. Side effects: Some people develop: •Dry skin •Irritated skin •Discomfort during treatment Prescription medicine Some patients receive a prescription for a medicine that temporarily prevents them from sweating. These medicines work throughout the body. However we cannot prescribe in open question answer session as a rule but you can ask in consultation. These medicines prevent the sweat glands from working. Athletes, people who work in a hot place, and anyone who lives in a warm climate should use extreme caution when using this treatment. The body may not be able to cool itself. Uses: These medicines can effectively treat sweating that involves entire body. This medicine also can be an effective treatment for post-menopausal women who sweat excessively only from their head. Side effects: The medicines that prevent the sweat glands from working can cause: •Dry mouth •Dry eyes •Blurry vision •Heart palpations (abnormal heartbeat) Surgery If other treatments fail to bring relief, surgery may be considered. Surgery is permanent and carries risks. The following surgeries can stop excessive sweating: •Surgically remove sweat glands •Sympathectomy A dermatologist can surgically remove sweat glands from the underarms. This surgery can be performed in a dermatologist’s office. Only the area to be treated is numbed, so the patient remains awake during the surgery. A dermatologist may use one or more of the following surgical techniques to remove sweat glands from the underarms: •Excision (cut out sweat glands) •Liposuction (remove with suction) •Curettage (scrape out) •Laser surgery (vaporize) Sympathectomy is another surgery used to treat hyperhidrosis. This is major surgery, which a surgeon performs in an operating room. During sympathectomy, the surgeon tries to stop the nerve signals that your body sends to the sweat glands. To do this, the surgeon will cut or destroy certain nerves. To find these nerves, the surgeon inserts a mini surgical camera into the patient’s chest just beneath the underarm. The patient’s lung must be temporarily collapsed so that the surgeon can cut or destroy nerves. Uses: •Surgical removal of sweat glands is used to treat the underarms •Sympathectomy is mainly used to treat the palms.

I was on thyronorm from 2011. But during 2014 I lost my health badly. Thats why I visited cmc vellore in november. There I consulted hod of endocrinology who after thorough investigation advised me to stop thyronorm. I also consulted gastro and finding was gastritis mild. I was also found to be calcium, vitamin d3 and vitamin b12 deficient. For these problems I was prescribed neurobion forte, sandocal, calcirol granule, dimol 40, atenolol 50 (i am taking atenolol from last 10 years). I was really very very fine in all respects in last 7 months. I recovered my lost health also. I checked up my thyroid blood in the last part of march which showed tsh as 12.26 and ft4 as 0.84. Again on 1st june I tested blood which showed ft4 as 0.80 and tsh as 17.40 and again on 18/6/15 blood report showed ft4 as 0.84 and tsh as 24+. Then on advice from my physician I am on eltroxin 50 mcg. But for last few days I have been facing various troubles such as gaseous abdomen, burping with sounds, pain in cervical region and backside of head, too much drowsiness and frequent instability with mental agony. Are these happening due to thyroxin or wrong dose of thyroxin or for from abdominal disturbance? please note that I am having cervical spondyltsis and hypertension from last 10 years. As per doctor's advice I have taken a refiximin for 2 weeks in last part of november 2014. Regards.

Am 24 year old my chest are slightly looks like breast. How can I change it? What's the problem for that? Is there any men's testosterone problem? How Can I solve it?

Advanced Aesthetics, M.Ch - Plastic Surgery, MS - General Surgery, MBBS
Cosmetic/Plastic Surgeon, Indore
To the best of our knowledge no medicines or creams work to decrease the breast size. Male breast or gynecomastia reduction. Gynecomastia is treatable by surgery. There is no medical treatment. It is a one day out patient surgery with very gratifying results. It boosts self esteem also. It is a 1 day hospital stay surgery. It takes 1 day for consultation and investigation and 2nd day surgery and discharge in 3-4 hours. The Dr. Can examine and tell you what is the problem, gynacomastia has a breast tissue and a fat component. No one wants surgery unless it is necessary. There is no medication which can give the results. Surgery is the only answer. The surgery is almost painless because there are enough medications to keep the pain under control. We need to examine the patient to know what is wanted and what can be done and to work out how much, when, where.

You have not mentioned your height therefore difficult to say how much excess weight you are carrying. Nevertheless if you want to reduce you have to change your food habits and lifestyle. You can reduce about 2 kgs per month by diet alone. The best medicine for Weight loss is Simple Diet + Daily exercise. Cut down Oils/Sugar/Maida/Ghee/Salty stuffs from your diet. Hye. Thanks for the query. Like any too good to be true fat burner, this is another tall claim made. Most fat burners in my experience have majorly not worked. Most people take it as a “trial and error” product meaning that they only find out that most often it's not really effective after trying it. Keep in mind that i have not read any scientific evidence or testimonials. Additionally, customer reviews are largely negative. Most people claim to have experience little or no difference at all after using a fat burner. Like any fat burner there are chances of side effects due to either poor intake, no fat diet, low hydration etc. You are young. Give your body a chance to lose weight by natural and healthy ways.

Suffering from Body Odour - 4 Homeopathic Remedies to Help Treat it

BHMS
Homeopath,
Suffering from Body Odour - 4 Homeopathic Remedies to Help Treat it

It is perfectly normal to have body odour after a hard day’s work. However, it can get downright embarrassing and alarming if such body odour persists, even after a good warm shower. This medical condition is a symptom of hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating.

What causes body odour?
When the body bacteria combine with sweat, a chemical decomposition occurs that lets out a stinky and pungent smell from certain body parts, especially the feet and the armpits. Working outdoors or being subject to high stress levels over a prolonged period of time can result in this condition. An inclusion of excessive amount of garlic, onion and other spices in your regular diet can trigger body odour as well. Excessive alcohol consumption, conditions such as obesity and diabetes mellitus can also lead to body odour.

Below is a list of some of the most effective homeopathic treatments for body odour:

  1. Silicea: This homeopathic preparation is effective to remedy feet odour. The concerned person might also show symptoms of excessive sweating in the feet along with the appearance of cracks in between the toes.
  2. Hepar Sulph: This homeopathic preparation is effective to address a pungent body odour occurring due to excessive physical or mental stress. Additionally, this preparation is also effective to cure body odour that emerges from the armpits and tends to leave a yellow stain around the region. If the pungent body odour persists even after a proper bath, the homeopathic preparation Rheum can be an effective remedy.
  3. Psorinum: This homeopathic preparation is extremely beneficial to address foul smell in combination with the symptoms of excessive sensitivity to cold weather, an unhealthy /dirty looking skin, and excessive sweating.
  4. Baryta Carb: This homeopathic preparation is effective to cure feet odour, especially in children. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

I am not lasting for more than few seconds during my masturbation. I feel this is known premature ejaculation. I have a habit of masturbating everyday sometimes more than twice a day. I am doing this from many years. Does this habit caused premature ejaculation. I am worried about my sexual intercourse as I feel like I cannot last for longer time. How can I avoid this premature ejaculation and stay longer.

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Solapur
Masturbation is harmless unless you are obsessed with it or it is affecting your normal routine or social life. Also Masturbation does not cause premature ejaculation. Premature ejaculation is a sign of anxiety or some psychiatric disorder. You cannot correlate time during Masturbation with the time during Sexual intercourse. There is no need to get panicked, as premature ejaculation is treatable, but before that we have to be sure that you are having it.

At present times we all are using internet for our work. Try to use the internet for the study purpose. You try to select what you want to watch in internet. Make your time table. You search for study materials from the internet along with your academic text book. You will find a very interesting way of learning and you knowledge will increase. Try avoiding going much towards entertaining parts of internet, even though it is very attractive part. You are an matured individual. You should have control on your life. It may appear very difficult in the beginning but slowly you will realize the change. So, just try to use the internet in different ways and you will see things will fall in line.
