Dear lybrate user, chest pain can have have multiple reasons. It can be a simple pain originating from the muscles or bones in the chest wall. If pain is brought on by any effort like lifting weights or climbing stairs it might be due to conditions of heart. If it's constant and not brought on by effort, pricking in type it could be due to infection in lung or fluid collection in pleura. I would advise you to consult a physician. Also I would recommend you to take the effort to quit smoking as it poses the highest risk of developing cancer, anywhere in the body.

Hi I had total thyroidectomy due to Thyroid cancer Parathyroids were preserved, RAI is done it's been only 2 months. Currently taking Eltroxin 200 mcg, and calcium supplement along with vitamin3 of 2000 mg. I am looking for a good antioxidant supplement which has vitamin C as well. lybrate-user, you will have more options if you separately take antioxidants and Vit C. Fish oil Omega-3 is a very good anti-oxidant if it has the right amount of EPA and DHA. I would also recommend Curcumin. Vit D3 and B12 also help.

How to prevent cancer in early stages? And also suggest which foods are given strength and energy for suffering with cancer.

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Dear mam, easiest and most effective way to find cancer in early stages is by regular self examination. Since we know our body the best, it's best to spend some time on monthly basis to look for any obvious changes, any lump or any abnormalities. Do consult doctors annually to look for any potential problems even if we don't have any symptoms. Coloured fruits and vegetables, adequately cleaned by either lime water and vinegar or diluted potassium permagnate to remove pesticides and artificial colours help.

Cancer presents as painless lump anywhere in body, ulceration which doesn't heal, bleeding from Anywhere, weight loss, prolonged fever, frequent infection, difficulty in swallowing, change in voice, change in bowelor bladder habits. Vegetables, nearly all of them if obtained from organic sources are rich in antioxidants and phycocyanin, lycopene etc which are cancer protective, so they help in prevention.

MBBS, MD - Medicine, MD - Oncology

Daear lybrate user. Burning sensation in urine may be because of infection. If you have urgency in passing uine or after passing urine you still pass drops of urine and wet your under garments or urine flow has diminished, there are sighns of prostate enlargement which could be benign as wel as malignant. For ruling it out you need a complete physical examination and followed by necessary investigations.

Dear, If it is painful it is unlikely cancer and may be infection. If after a course of antibiotics it foes not suppress you should definitely go for Timor analysis. A fine needle aspiration testis advised in that case. If there is any positivity on FNAC then we can go for further management.

Pancreatic Cancer - Ayurvedic Remedies For It!

Pancreatic Cancer - Ayurvedic Remedies For It!

Pancreas is small organ located behind your stomach, which are responsible for the production of insulin. This organ produces multiple enzymes, which are necessary for digestion. The increase in diabetes, obesity, smoking and other issues within the population have also pushed up the number of cases of pancreatic cancer. Let's look at some of the Ayurvedic remedies, which are known to be very effective in combating or preventing this disease.

  1. Tulsi or Ocimum Tenuiflorum: Tulsi has been known to have many medicinal properties and has been used in Ayurveda since ages. It improves metabolism, reduces inflammation as well and is able to regulate and control diabetic disorders, thus halting or even preventing cancer.
  2. Emblica Officinalis or Amla: Amla is very effective in the removal of toxins and can regulate inflammation, which is caused by certain enzymes. It is also an antioxidant which can keep excessive secretion under check and stop the progress of cancer or its development in the first place.
  3. Haritaki and Terminalia Chebula: A widely used Ayurvedic medicine, Haritaki has qualities that can act as a colon cleanser and help remove cholesterol and fats from your system. This can unclog organs like the pancreas and lessen the chances of cancer or even halt further progress of cancerous cell growth.
  4. Kanchnaar or Bauhinia Variegate: This herb is very good in stopping the cancer causing agents and can prevent the growth of lymphomas, sarcomas, malignant tumors among other cancerous diseases. It has been used since a very long time to treat cancers in Ayurveda and thus be very effective in treating pancreatic cancers as well.
  5. Guggul or Commiphora Mukul: Another effective medication to stop the growth of cancer, guggul has been a fairly common name in Ayurvedic medicines. It inhibits certain pathways that may either cause or enhance the growth of cancer cells within the body and is thus effective as a preventative measure as well as a remedy for pancreatic cancer.
  6. Ashwagandha: Another common Ayurvedic herb, this is very effective as an anti-inflammatory agent and as an antioxidant. Ashwagandha has been used to treat diabetic neuropathy and is also beneficial in reducing anxiety and stress, all of which may lead to pancreatic cancers. It is also effective in the prevention of the growth of cancer cells. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.
