I am suffering from snoring and it is very high in the night. I am very shameful for me. Please provide details what can I do to get of this. Thank you.

Ask Free Question
Hi, Please follow these tips to stop snoring: - Reduce your weight if you are obese. - Perform pranayama (breathing exercises) everyday. - Quit smoking which irritates the mucosal layer of the nose and throat and causes blockage and results in snoring. - Quit alcohol and sedatives which relax the throat muscles and results in snoring. - Sleep on sides instead on back. - Elevate the head by using a thick pillow which eases the breathing. - Clear the nose before going to bed. - Establish regular sleep pattern. - Keep the bedroom air moist by using humidifier; as dry air irritates the mucosal membrane in the nose and throat. - Perform throat exercises like repeating the vowels a, e, i, o, you loudly for 2-3 mins few times a day or keeping the tongue behind the teeth and moving it backwards - 3-4 times a day. - Anti snoring appliances can also be used.

Is it necessary to clear the wax in the ear periodically in the normal condition?
Hello, human ear can prevent a lot of dust to accumulate because of certain hair like structures that are present in the outer ear. It is not necessary to use cotton buds and clear the wax in normal conditions. However, if you feel a decrease in hearing and if there is accumulation of wax, it should be cleared.

Mere nose me infection h nose ke andar naak sukh jana aur saans lene me dikkat hoti hai please upay bataye.
Dear the symptoms you are getting are due to dryness of the mouth, this is because of lack of mucus in the mouth which is protective layer of our mouth, and is being produced in the mouth by glands which will be helped by good and healthy blood supply to the glands, blood with good blood cells will take oxygen to the gland and gland works, they require oxygen in ample of amount, so if you do not take iron diet on daily basis than this will lead to less of mucus production and hence lead to dryness and thick mucus problem, this thick mucus leads to irritation in mouth hence leads to itching in the mouth, start taking good iron diet on daily basis, and shakes, avoid salty and spicy food.

Red eye has many causes. You have to see if it is associated with blurring of vision, pain, discharge and other complaints. But commonly its allergic or infective in origin ie allergic or infective conjunctivitis. Which has simple treatment protocol. But still its wise to see an ophthalmologist for a thorough slit lamp examination to rule out other differentials for acute red eye.

Sore Throat in Children

When should I call the doctor about my child’s sore throat? — Sore throat is a common problem in children. It usually gets better on its own. But sore throat can sometimes be serious.

Call your child’s doctor or nurse if your child has a sore throat and:

●Has a fever of at least 101°F or 38.4°C

●Doesn’t want to eat or drink anything

Call for an ambulance (in the US and Canada, dial 9-1-1) or take your child to the emergency room if your child:

●Has trouble breathing or swallowing

●Is drooling much more than usual

●Has a stiff or swollen neck

What causes sore throat? — Sore throat is usually caused by an infection. Two types of germs can cause the infection: viruses and bacteria. Children spread germs easily because they often touch each other, share toys, and put things in their mouths.

Children who have a sore throat caused by a virus do not usually need to see a doctor or nurse. Children who have a sore throat caused by bacteria might need to see a doctor or nurse. They might have a type of infection called strep throat

How can I tell if my child’s sore throat is caused by a virus or strep throat? — It is hard to tell the difference. But there are some clues to look for

People who have a sore throat caused by a virus usually have other symptoms, too. These can include:

●A runny nose

●A stuffed-up chest

●Itchy or red eyes

●Cough

●A raspy (hoarse) voice

●Pain in the roof of the mouth

People who have strep throat DO NOT usually have a cough, runny nose, or itchy or red eyes.

If you think your child might have strep throat, call your child’s doctor. He or she can do a test to check for the bacteria that cause strep throat.

Does my child need antibiotics? — If the sore throat is caused by a virus, your child DOES NOT need antibiotics. Unless your child has strep throat, antibiotics will NOT help.

What can I do to help my child feel better? — There are several ways to help relieve a sore throat:

●Soothing foods and drinks – Give your child things that are easy to swallow, like tea or soup, or popsicles to suck on. Your child might not feel like eating or drinking, but it’s important that he or she gets enough liquids. Offer different warm and cold drinks for your child to try.

●Medicines – Acetaminophen (sample brand name: Tylenol) or ibuprofen (sample brand names: Advil, Motrin) can help with throat pain. The correct dose depends on your child’s weight, so ask your child’s doctor how much to give.

Do not give aspirin or medicines that contain aspirin to children younger than 18 years. In children, aspirin can cause a serious problem called Reye syndrome. Do not give children throat sprays or cough drops, either. Throat sprays and cough drops are no better at relieving throat pain than hard candies. Plus, throat sprays can cause an allergic reaction.

●Other treatments – For children who are older than 3 to 4 years, sucking on hard candies or a lollipop might help. For children older than 6 to 8 years, gargling with salt water might help.

When can my child go back to school? — If your child’s sore throat is caused by a virus, he or she should be able to go back to school as soon as he or she feels better. If your child has a fever, he or she should stay home for at least 24 hours after the fever has gone away.

How can I keep my child from getting a sore throat again? — Wash your child’s hands often with soap and water. It is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of infection. You can use an alcohol rub instead, but make sure the hand rub gets everywhere on your child’s hands.

Try to teach your child about other ways to avoid spreading germs, such as not touching his or her face after being around a sick person.

Please take Bryonia 200 – once daily for next 3-4 days. Drink plenty of warm fluids. Drinking warm fluids helps to loosen the secretions in your sinuses so that your mucus flows more freely, making you feel better faster. Studies show that drinking warm fluids relieves cold symptoms such as runny nose, cough, sneezing, sore throat, and fatigue.

Hello welcome to lybrate. We are here to help you. You seem to be suffering from upper respiratory tract infection (urti). At home, you can do warm saline gargles, steam inhalation. You should drink hot fluids like ginger tea, that will soothe the pain. But in case you have fever then you should see your doctor who will examine you and prescribe an antibiotic like azithromycin or amoxycillin. You can continue cetrizine that you are taking for net 2-3 days. In case of severe pain, you can add a tablet of aspirin in water and do gargles with that. You may take paracetamol on as or when required basis for fever and body pains. Share my opinion with your doctor before you act upon it. I hope it helps. Stay healthy.

Ear hygiene and cleanig

MBBS, MS - ENT

Ask Free Question
There is a tradition in lot of families to clean ears regularly with ear buds or q tips and those who don't do it are many times considered nonhygeinic. But it may risk hearing ability. Inside ear is a very delicate structure and is likely to be damaged easily even with trivial trauma.

First we must understand that wax has a useful role to play in the ear, it lubricates protects and renders antiseptic proerty. Ears without wax feel dry and itchy. Wax is selfcleaned from our ear canal propagated by movements of the jaw. So most of the times there is never any need to clean wax from inside the ears. Only external surface of the ear should be cleaned with cloth.

Many times attempt to clean ears with ear buds results injury to delicate skin of ear canal and even worse it may injure the eardrum or if there is a wax chunk it may push ddep into the eardrums.

Earwax needs to cleaned only when it obstructs the sound pathway to ear drum. When there is feeling of fullness or blockage or pluuged, there is partial hearing loss there is ringing in the ears or tinnitus or noise in the ear or there is itching or odour in the ear.

Many times home remedies are useful to remove ear wax like instilling drops of mineral oil glycerine or commercially available drops. If not successful than it should be removed by ent surgeon. Ent surgeon may wash earwaxout with warm water or saline. Sometimes ent surgeon may remove wax by suction or microinstruments under microscope. There is no proven remedy for frequent wax impaction but it is very important to avoit inserting any object inside ear to clean wax. Those who get frequent wax impaction or using hearing aids may need to see ent surgeon every 6 to 12 months to clean wax regularly.

Hi, there are very effective medicines present in homoeopathy for curing ear discharge problem if prescribed correctly. While taking medicines there are some precautions that must be followed, otherwise the discharge problem can repeat. Take kali bich 200.4pills to be sucked thrice a day. Calc sulph 6x 4tabs to be chewed thrice a day for 1mth avoid citrus fruits, strawberries, pineapple, green skin bananas. Avoid using mosquito repellents.
