Hi lybrate-user tips for weight loss eat fresh vegetables daily. Avoid having sugar completely. Eat whole wheat bread instead of white bread; avoid everything made from white flour and make whole wheat bread, chapattis and brown rice a way of life. Do not skip a meal and eat three meals a day. Drink plenty of water to eliminate the toxins from the system. Limit your fat intake to 2-3 teaspoons a day. Increase the fiber intake as it provides a sense of fullness and also prevents hunger pangs. Take antioxidants for protecting the body against the toxins released during weight loss. Exercise catalyzes your efforts to lose weight and even regular walking for thirty minutes can give you the benefits of an aerobics exercise. To improve the metabolism, try increasing the duration, frequency, intensity of your daily workout. Remember that maintaining the ideal weight is a lifetime commitment and not a short-term affair. Firmly believe that the pleasure of being trim and healthy is far better than the pleasure of eating unwisely.

I am diabetic for the last 36 years. All of asudden since last 3 months I have started getting boils in my abdominal region with PUS.

Hi thanks for your question, i would like to ask how was your sugar control, get an hbaic checked and a blood & pus culture done for the above and can start with appropriate antibiotics, if the sugar is not in control infections take long time to heal. Do not worry first get your blood sugar levels under control and rest will be fine.

My skin inside the mouth has become very soft after having rct and a cap on one of the teeth what may be the cause white patches type what is the cause and what type of treatment is recommended please mention the name of the. I am 43 years old,from past one year i am a diabetic,it was under control when i last did my hba1c test,it was 7,now after three months when i did yesterday it was 9.2,i go for walking and do exercise every day excepet sundays, so i dont know why this sudden change in my body,i take k glim 2mg,tablet morning one and night one,please help sir

As the duration of diabetes progresses response to medicine varies. I hope u r taking ur tablets regularly and u have not stopped. If u have stopped meds then tht explains the rising sugars. Also always do the tests in a NABL accredited lab. U can add metformin 500mg one in the morning n evening

Hii. Exactly 1 years back I got my knee joint sprain. Had scanning showed anterior cruciate ligament thickness tear. Asked me to do regular physiotherapy. But sometimes sudden movement causing severe pain due to slight sprain. Can you please provide any home treatment to avoid this.

Physiotherapy can be done at home. If you have instability despite physiotherapy, you will need Arthroscopic surgery to reconstruct ACL. Pain may be because of meniscus tear. If knee remains unstable for longer time, meniscus gets torn and pain aggravates.

Please note the treatment for pinworms as follows - the main thing is hygiene: 1. Wash all bed linen, bedclothes (pajamas) and cuddly toys. Normal washing temperature is fine, but it needs to be well rinsed. 2. Vacuum the home thoroughly, especially the bedrooms. Vacuuming needs to be regular and thorough throughout the six-week period. 3. Damp-dust surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom, washing the cloth often in hot water. Do this regularly throughout the period. 4. Do not shake things that may have eggs on them, such as clothing, pajamas, bed lined or towels. 5. Do not eat in the bedroom. There is a risk of swallowing eggs that have shaken off the bedclothes. 6. Make sure everybody's fingernails are cut short. 7. Refrain from nail biting and finger sucking. This may not be easy if there are small children in the house. 8. Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, and scrub under your fingernails. Before eating, after going to the toilet, and after changing diapers (nappies) make sure you wash your hands. 9. At night wear close-fitting underwear. Change your underwear every morning. 10. Some people say that cotton gloves may help prevent scratching during sleep. 11. Have a bath or shower regularly, thoroughly cleaning your body, paying particular attention to your anal and vaginal (females) areas. 12. Do not share towels or face flannels. 13. Toothbrushes should be kept in a closed cupboard and rinsed well before use.

Feeling Tired Even After a Lot of Sleep - Did You Know Why?

One of the most common scenarios that most people are faced with is a constant feeling of tiredness and lethargy even after you have had a full night’s sleep. The questions popping in your mind right about now is, why is this happening? Why does the lethargic feeling fail to leave you even after you had a proper 8 hours sleep? Why is your sleep getting into the way of your professional productivity? Though there are a number of different explanations to this constant feeling of cloudiness throughout the day, hence, experts in the field have listed down some of the factors that prove to be the major causes behind this condition.

Some of these most common and powerful reasons are listed below.

  1. Thyroid: The moment your thyroid levels start soaring, you will automatically find it difficult to keep up with the pace that your day to day life demands. The thyroid gland, which is placed right in front of the throat, is the size of the knot on your tie. This gland produces a hormone. When the activity of the thyroid gland, it starts secreting more and more of the hormones, leading to a condition termed as hyperthyroidism. The same gland when underperforms, it starts holding back the hormone secretion, leading to a condition called hypothyroidism. In both the cases the metabolism of the body slows down, leading to an increased level of tiredness even after proper sleep.
  2. Anaemia: Another leading cause of that nagging feeling of sleepiness and draining energy is Anaemia. Anaemia causes a certain amount of fatigue in an individual. The main cause influencing this situation is the lack of presence of enough red blood cells. The main function of these red blood cells is to transfer oxygen constantly from the long to the cells and tissues. A break in this process leads to you feeling weak and also short of breath.
  3. Diabetes: Diabetes poses a serious threat to the all over functioning of your body. It is termed as the slow killer and constantly works towards undermining the level of energy a normal individual can hold. This adversely affects your day to day life, including your performance at work and also performing your daily chores at home. The glucose in your body serves as a fuel for your daily activities. Since patients with type 2 diabetes cannot use this rising glucose in their blood properly, they end up being more tired than they ought to be.

Other conditions that lead to the same draining feeling and constant tiredness even after lot of sleep are depression, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue, sleep apnea, sleep inertia, periodic limb movement disorder, constant exposure to computer screens, tv screen, monitors, etc. There are a whole bag of other factors that lead to the constant feeling of tiredness that you are feeling. Before the end of the day, you are drained, your productivity drops and you cannot wait to hit the bed, and the same is the condition when you get out of bed. Consulting a general physician will not only help you put a finger on the cause, but also cure it with proper treatment.

Hi wear a knee brace for 8 weeks, avoid climbing. Do quadriceps drill after learning from a trained physiotherapist. Do not do any other exercise for six weeks. Use walking stick in opposite hand for 6 weeks to take weight off the operated knee consult your treating surgeon for further advise and precautions best wishes.
