I am 73 years old. I have ligament tear problem it is proving difficult to walk because of imbalance while walking. I have really no pain and less stability in left knee joint. Some orthopedic doctors say osteoarthritis is setting in, and some say ligament tear is there and better to do ortho scopy. Key hole surgery ihave x-rays and ct scan done.

Well, for ligament injury, arthroscopy surgery is done and ligament is reconstructed. At 73, I would prefer not to do this as results in this age are not known. Usually this surgery is done in younger and more active population. For you, it would be appropriate to use donjoy knee brace for acl tear. Perform hamstring strengthening exercises and you would be good.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Around 8 months back, I slipped on stairs and from then this back problem started basically. In between once I consulted doctor and had a xray as well. He suggested that my lower tail bone and somewhere in the middle it's hurt. He suggested some medicine. After few months I left the medicine as it seems to be fine. But when I started Zym .it's started again. Like I can't sleep more than 4 hours straight in my back. I have to change sides while sleeping many times. Kindly suggest some helpful medication. You have coccydinia, you should stop lifting weights at the gym in this condition. If you do so your problem will get worsened, best would be to take physiotherapy treatment from a good physiotherapist ,he will help you to ease out the pain and other problems associated with it. Also back/core strengthening exercises need to be done on regular basis so that you are better able to exercise at the gym! Medicines will just block your pain for a certain period but will not have any improvement on your muscle condition and nor it will help you gain strength. If you know swimming its a good exercise to begin with! Can take ice pack 2-3 times a day to relieve the pain.

Dear well prolonged standing can cause back pain and leg pain. So you need breaks and create fitness. Do a combination of aerobics, yoga and strength training. Gradually you will feel better. Also take balanced diet and good sleep.

If it's just started, then hot foment your knee and apply local ointments. And do exercise as pain permits. If no pain relief, then consult a doctor.

Do heat fermentation twice a day and rest avoid long standing if it work then ok otherwise it physiotherapy treatment tens therapy and ultrasonic therapy after relief start strength exercise like quadriceps exercise in gradually process.
