One of my friend he is suffering due to dislocation of l5/s1 disc. The residual ap canal diameter at this level measures 6.7 mm only. Few of the doctors suggested him to do surgery but few of them not recommending surgery because he is just 27 years old. Now he is taking Ayurveda medicine. Kindly recommend the best solution or medication for this problem.

Surgery should be avoided on vertebral column and spinal cord. It's better to get full panchakarma at good ayurveda hospital near you. Yoga postures, deep breathing will also help. Ayurvedic medicine once suit you, will be immensely beneficial.

My mother suffers from Dorsal spinal vertebrate compression fracture. She is 84 what is the line of treatment.

Mild or grade 1 fractures can be treated with rest, medication and braces. Severe fractures will need mri evaluation. Majority of these fractures are a result of osteoporosis which needs to be aggressively treated. Some patients will benefit from procedures such as kyphoplasty.

I had a right arm fracture, both radius and ulnar bones are broken. Plates were placed and its been 15 months now. Doctor examined and said implants can be removed. How much time Will it take to get back to normal life after this surgery?

According to latest guidelines, removal of implant is not mandatory and should only be done if there is failure of implant or any sign of infection or if it is causing any pain or discomfort to the patient. If you still want to get it removed then take care of your forearm for three months because the holes in which screws have been placed make the bone weaker and more susceptible to fracture.

Hi lybrate-user. It can be due to nerve problem or muscle problem alone (due to tightness in calf muscle). Try some stretching exercises for calf muscle thrice a day for 3-4 days. If symptom persists even after 4 days then consult me again. Do some gentle massage over calf muscle.

Respected doctors, I am a male of 29 years of age, I am suffering from generalized anxiety disorder feeling like I am in a dream like state, light headed, foggy vision, stiff head, head feeling numb, depersonalization, tough to carry on life since 1 and half year. I can understand you are taking treatment or taken already, but there is no relief, one thing is sure that you r intellegent and can analyze your condition effectively. You also know that most of the, doctor adv you about good diet, excercise and good sleep. Long term pain in elbow and wrist joints .it has started some 5 months back. I train heavy with weights. Not sure if there is deficiency of calcium for such pain.

Please check your uric acid. Apply gingely oil or Rheumatil oil on painful parts. You can follow some tips for weight loss in daily routine. 1. After every meal, drink 1 cup boiling water with spoon sip by sip. After half an hour you have taken meal do this daily. 2. Try to avoid eating heavy food after 7 pm. As it takes time to digest heavy food. 3. Drink 1 glass water half an hour before meal. 4. Try to do some exercise. Yoga and meditation are very good in losing weight and maintaining it also. From last 4 yrs, my stomach feel start anxious about something and it heads towards my heart and I feel like I can die at any moment because of heart attack or loss of breath. I always suffered back ache and neck ache. When I do certain exercises of breathing, I always feel breathlessness with shivering of hands and legs. When I rolled down my head exercise, I started feeling fainting and also fainting normally. I always fear of heights, snakes etc and when I heard a sound, my mind alerted me very fast and heartbeats started rapidly. Due to this, I also feel to commit suicide as no way of getting out of this. Excitement also leads me into rapid heartbeat. All the time, I feel tired and lonely. Also I feel difficulty in removing negativity and memory loss is quite regular. Is their any medication or some test or any special concern. Kindly help me out.

Hi lybrate-user, it seems you are suffering from panic anxiety. There are not tests for this since its entirely due to brain acitvity and no deformity. Its an anxiety disorder and sure shot curable. It has two modes of treatment first is medication for which you should visit a good psychiatrist second in case of anxiety and dissociation ((fainting)) psychotherapy helps a lot where in you will be taught to manage your anxiety through exercises and be master of your mind for which you can consult with me or any other psychologist. Do not worry suicide is not option, when medical attention is available to you. All the best. Seek treatment asap.

I am suffering from back pain only at one point on right side. When I do bending and unbending of my knees while lying flat, a crackling sound comes from right side of my back. I do a lot of exercise but I do not get relief.

Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

Can Joint Stiffness Be A Symptom Of Osteoarthritis?

As you age, the cartilage cushioning your joints starts wearing down, causing the bones to rub against each other. This causes osteoarthritis, which is a type of degenerative disease caused. The rubbing of the bones causes inflammation of the joints. The joints of the arms and legs along with the lower back are most commonly affected by this condition.

Here are some common symptoms, which indicate that you are suffering from osteoarthritis:

1. Pain and tenderness: An aching back, knees, neck and hip with severe pain are some of the most common symptoms of osteoarthritis. The pain caused during the early stage of arthritis is classified into tenderness and pain. A sharper pain may be felt while moving the affected joint in a certain way. Tenderness is the discomfort experienced when the joint is pressed along with visible swelling in the affected area.

2. Joint stiffness: Joint stiffness is another early symptom of osteoarthritis. It refers to the wooden feeling, which makes a person feel slow and sluggish. The urge to rest or go to bed should be resisted. Warming up the joints with gentle exercise or moving around cause relief. It also helps in reducing the stiffness and you can continue your regular activities with more ease.

3. Abnormal sensations: When the cartilage wears down, the rubbing of the bones against each other may lead to some abnormal sensations. Grating of the joints is common in people with osteoarthritis. One may feel that their joints are cracking or clicking while moving.

4. Loss of flexibility: People who are in their early stages of osteoarthritis may face difficulty with moving the areas which are affected. This joint stiffness and pain may lead to a loss of flexibility or loss of range of motion. Range of motion refers to the extent up to which one can move his joints normally. In case you are not being able to bend your knee fully or as far as you would have done it normally, you might be experiencing osteoarthritis.

Loss of flexibility occurs slowly and gradually. A person may hurt his back unusually during a football game or may experience a stiff back in the morning after waking up. This gets more intense with time. In the later stages, you may experience joint pain even while resting.

In case you experience any symptoms of osteoarthritis, you must consult a doctor immediately. The doctor will provide you with a plan aimed at managing and getting a quicker relief from the pain caused due to osteoarthritis. Several over-the-counter medicines, braces for supporting affected joints and range of motion exercises are also effective ways of managing osteoarthritis.
