Sir, hi. I slipped from the stairs of my house and got injured. We waited till the morning and go to a doctor nearby our house who is a bone and joint specialist Dr. Gagan deep. He started the treatment on 5th march'15 by immediately putting the plaster after an x-ray. Another x-ray was done by him after two days i. E. On 17th march'15 and had asked me to come after 45 days. On 20th april'15 he removed the plaster after another x-ray saying that now the bone is perfect. But I was not able to walk properly and the swelling persisted. We decided to take a second opinion. My friend then took him to Dr. Avasthi (ortho). That doctor clearly said that it was a day 1 surgery case and now also surgery is the only solution. One of my friend took me to a doctor Dr (physiotherapist). He also said that it was a clear case of day 1 surgery but we can cure it through physiotherapy. He suggested the following treatment: pneumatic compression walking brace and ambulatory training for the same. Waiting for early reply. Regards.

For leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your issues appear to be related to early degenerative changes in your shoulders and back region. You should initiate with gentle anti inflammatory medication, intensive physical therapy, adequate calcium and vitamin d intake, posture counseling and exercises and lifestyle modifications. Also it is imperative to keep your sugar levels under control, that is best done under supervision of a diabetologist, and if you have also undergone angioplasty, then a cardiologist care is also important. (a) sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. (b) use no pillow under the head. (c) kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days (d) do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises (e) make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take (f) do not ignore it. It could be beginning of a serious problem. (g) if no relief in 4_5 days, then contact me again.

I am 62 years old, 2 & 1/2 yrs ago I had been suffering from prostate problem in which cathedral was used for 10-12 days, due to this process I cought uti and thereafter all bones related problem aroused (knee joint pain & lowe back pain) etc. Although no treatment for ortho problems could have been done, after a gap of around 2 & 1/2 yrs. I started to get medicine for knee joint pain but still urine flow obstruction starts & I have to stop the medicine for ortho & get the medicins for urine like prostina & flow dart+. What should I do, could not understand, may please advise.

Dear Please get urine examination done to see if you are left with residual infection. Also see that you have usg done with postvoid residual urine, full bladder volume and wall thickness on full bladder with size of prostate. If you are constipated also solve that because passage of hard motions results in fissure giving you same complaints which will not respond to flow dart +. So let me see the reports and then only I can give you correct advice.

Start with physiotherapy sessions and learn exercise for knee joint. Don't sit on floors. Wear knee cap open patella also. Take calcium and methylcobalamine supplement with glucosamine for three months minimum.

Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Swing 20 times morning and evenings. Go for a regular walk. Also control your weight properly to bring down the pain.

Hello Mrs. low levels of vitamin d can cause bone and joint pains. You can either take arachitol injections or arachitol oral suspension (if available), once a week for 4 weeks. Along with it, you will have to take d 3 up granules-one sachet mixed in one glass of water and drink it once a week for 6 weeks. After the sachets are over, you will have to take tab d3 up 1000 iu daily one capsule for a month. This entire course will solve your problem of deficiency and of leg pain too.

Hello lybrate user, get your x-ray of the knee joint in standing weight bearing position in anteroposterior and lateral projections. Mostly it is has osteoarthritis of the knee joint wherein the articular cartilage of the joint gets progressively degenerative. Common in old age and indian population use knee caps regular exercise hot water bag some natural medicines x-ray and her level of discomfort will dictate the management plan. God bless you.
