I am 37 years old, female. In my anal area 2 lumps create problem to me. After 3 or 4 months bleed from rectum when stool is went out. It is dark red, no pain at that time, just feel weakness and have seen darkness around eye side. All time feel vomiting tendency. Weight is normal. Am I suffering colon cancer? if I operate it, may it spread?

By your history, it looks like" external piles. Symptomatic care followed by operation if required cures. I don't think its cancer.

I am 19 years old. I took treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma of radiation and chemotherapy. Radiation 35 sittings in month of may-june. chemotherapy 3 cycles. From past six months I am not able to eat solid food. Salivary glands have to reactivate. Now what should I do. From when can I eat and how to reactivate my salivary glands.

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Usually within two to three months time the salivary functions are regained to a great extent post treatment, however it all depends od the extent of disease and nodal status and dose of radiation to major salivary glands. Meanwhile you can try with artificial salivary preparation like mouth wet /aqwet spray to keep your mouth lubricated. You must gargle regularly and take steam inhalation to reduce inflammation. Chewing gums, sour food, chewing rubbery materials some times augments salivary secretions. Always take solid food accompanied by some liquid drinks like buttermilk, juices, water, milk etc so that it may not get stuck in throat.

Is a palpable lump in the side a symptom of colon cancer? Or is it only found as a polyp inside and can not be felt?

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Intra-abdominal lumps are usually difficult to feel by individuals themselves unless they become quite big. But big lumps will also have some symptoms so it may be something else if you do not have any symptoms. Colon cancers present as altered bowel habits or indigestion. There can be frank bleeding or occult blood in stool picked up by stool microscopic examination. Serum cea levels can be checked in suspicious cases along with stool test and further colonoscopic examination will help in diagnosis. You can meet a gastroenterologist if any abdominal symptoms you feel.

Hello I am taking Urimax -D every night for Benign Prostate hyperplasia with BOO. Prostate measures 6.0 x 3.6 x 4.5 c...
Mr. lybrate-user. You have moderately enlarged prostate with residual urine volume about 54. Cc. Since when you are taking urimax-D it is a good drug. One thing you can try to reduce water intake after 6 pm your night frequency may reduce. please try this and contact me after 15 days, and also please don't go out in cold days avoid excess of alcohol if you are taking. Take bath with warm water and sit in warm water.

Hello Kya breast ultrasound karne se breast cancer ka risk increase hota h kya. Please provide me accurate answer. thanks.

Ultrasound is based on sonic waves generated by piezoelectric effect. There is no radiation involved in ultrasound and hence it does not increase the risk of breast cancer. Mammography has minimal radiation, which would be less than the radiation one receives during a trans Atlantic flight. Hence that too does not in crease the risk of cancer. MRI is based on magnetic resonance imaging, which again has no Radiation hazard CT scan does have radiation risk multiple times that of Xray, but needs repeated scans to be significant enough.

Hello, The protocol has been correct and these are progesterone side effects which are common. Just increase your water intake to 4-5 litres a day to minimise these effects and also get a urine preganncy test done after 15 days off iui to confirm or rule out pregnancy.
