Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) to decide upon treatment. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Some bad smell is coming from mouth and some time blood also. Please suggest me what need to be done.

MBA (Healthcare), BDS
Dentist, Chennai
Bad odour or smell is due to the plaque and calculus present in the teeth near the gums, hence you need for full mouth teeth cleaning i.e scaling. Bleeding is due to the gum inflammation beacuse of the presence of calculus /tartar present. Once scaling done the problem will get solved for you Thank you.

Your problem needs to have a thorough check up. I would advice you to get it checked as soon as possible. It could be due to some infected molar, or tmj problem but its difficult to tell anything for certain without more information.

M having problem of lower teeth sensitivity from yesterday. please gv some remedies.
A major cause of tooth sensitivity is root exposure. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning along with desensitizing procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or root canal treatment. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person. Until then apply a desensitizing paste (sensodyne tooth paste) on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min until you brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight will be better. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

By eating only eggshell could we overcome from cavity and regrown in affected area. Why should use harmful comfrey root? Please suggest any other solution also.

BDS
Dentist, Jaunpur
Brother, I am little confused, who told you these baseless things. Enamel can never regenerate, never never never so affected area can never regrows eating anything may increase calcium in your body, but it doesnt do anything good to tooth calcium may helpfull for your teeth only when its under formation means the calcium your body have t the time of formation of tooth, body used only that much, after erruption, no matter how much you take these stuff its not going to help now in simple term, if it is possible to regrow affected area then in this world there is no need of dentist why would any one let dentist fill their affected area with artificial material, if they can regrow it.

Reasons & Remedy for tooth senstivity

Post-Graduate Certificate in Oral Implantology (PGCOI), PG in Laser Dentistry, Basic Life Support (B.L.S), MDS Prosthodontics
Dentist, Gurgaon
Reasons & Remedy for tooth senstivity
On drinking cold water or a sip of tea or coffee makes you uneasy or eating ice-cream or yoghurt is a nightmare, you may have a common problem known as “sensitive teeth.”

Various causes of sensitivity in teeth include:

1. Forceful brushing of teeth – it is the most common cause of tooth sensitivity. It causes thinning of the protective layer on our teeth that is enamel. Enamel protects our teeth against insult from food or fluids we take. Loss of enamel leads to sensitivity of teeth

Remedy:
• Gentle brushing of teeth
• Use soft bristle brush
• Change brush after 3- 6 months ( as the bristles wear away)
• Use little toothpaste ( toothpaste has abrasive particles which causes
wear away of enamel)
• Do brushing in up-down movement

2. Tooth decay – caries in tooth leads to tooth sensitivity. Caries remove the protective enamel layer exposing dentine layer to food and fluids. Dentine carries nerves which causes sensitivity

Remedy: Treatment involves removal of tooth decay and placement of
protective barrier on dentine that is a filling material

3. Old tooth fillings – over a period of time fillings may crack or break or get removed which leads to sensitivity.

Remedy: Change of filling in tooth

4. Exposed tooth roots- as a result of aggressive tooth brushing, gum recession and gum disease. It causes tooth sensitivity.

Remedy
• Use soft bristle brush
• Visit your dentist for gum disease treatment

5. Plaque and calculus - the purpose of brushing is to remove plaque that forms after eating food. An excessive build-up of plaque can cause your enamel to wear away. Again, your teeth can become more sensitive as they lose their enamel protection.

Remedy: The solution is to practice good daily dental care and visit your
dentist for cleanings every six months.

6. Habit of eating acidic foods -fruits like lemon, sweet lime, pickles and tomato juice contains acid which can dissolve enamel of teeth. Frequent use of acidic food causes tooth sensitivity.

7. Habit of tooth-grinding – grinding also cause tooth sensitivity due to loss of enamel.

Tooth sensitivity is treatable. You must have seen toothpaste made for sensitive teeth. However, toothpaste can only help limited no. of patient’s suffering from tooth sensitivity.

If your sensitivity is extreme and persists no matter what you do, please visit your dentist for an oral examination. Visit to dental specialist can determine the most likely cause of your tooth sensitivity and the best solution for your particular condition. I Hope this article will help you.

Sugar - How It Affects Your Teeth?

M.D.S, Post-Graduate Certificate in Oral Implantology (PGCOI) , B.D.S
Dentist, Hyderabad
Sugar - How It Affects Your Teeth?

Sugar is an all pervasive substance that is found in most food items although specific ones such as candies, colas and sweet delicacies tend to have more of it. While it may taste great on the tongue, it may not be so good for your body as well as your teeth. Teeth are especially affected by sugar as an ingredient in all items of food. Some of the ways it affects your dental health are discussed below –

  1. Sugar from colas, sodas and other carbonated beverages: Sugar that gets into your body in the form of carbonated beverages are the worst in terms of the nooks and crannies that it gets into. As it is in liquid form, it can swirl around the toughest corner and deposit sugar there. This will encourage the growth of harmful bacteria, causing a host of problems.

  2. Dissolving tooth enamel: Tooth enamel is the topmost layer of teeth. This is the layer which is visible to the naked eye and is white in color. Foods such as chewy candies can leave a hard lump of sugar lodged in your teeth which the saliva in your mouth will not be able to dissolve away. This will keep producing acids and result in the dissolving of the enamel. Enamel protects the nerves of the teeth and thus will result in extreme pain and even tooth decay.

  3. Encourages the growth of plaque: Plaque is an obstructive and sticky substance that forms on many parts of your body, including the teeth. Plaque is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and these bacteria feed and grow on the sugar from the foods that you eat. These bacteria can cause cavities, gum infections, bad breath, destroy the enamel among causing other dental problems as well.

Some of the other related problems that can be caused by sugar on your dental health are:-

  1. Reduction in the size of your back teeth due to erosion from acids formed from sugar.

  2. Gum infections of various kinds which may end up requiring surgery.

  3. Changes in the bite of a person i.e. the way upper and lower teeth come together.

  4. Sugar may also affect the growth of bacteria in the mouth, which in turn may also cause digestion problems.

  5. Causes bad breath due to buildup of bacteria.
