Pain Management Specialist, Pune
Migraine headache is characterised by unilateral pulsating headache associated with nause/vomiting and photophobia / phonophobia. There are triggers for migraine like sun exposure, certain foods or smell, lack of sleep, excess caffeine etc. The triggers are variable for different patients. Migraine attacks can be managed by simple painkillers like paracetamol but in resistant cases drugs like Sumatriptan may be needed. For frequent episodes of migraine preventive medications are to be taken by prescription. There are various medicines available for this and if control is not achieved with one medicine another drug is to be added. Don't take painkillers daily for migraine headaches , it's better to take the preventive medicines. Painkillers on long term basis can further aggravate the migraine headache into Medication Overuse Headace (Read my health tips on Medication Overuse Headace ) Follow these lifestyle changes to avoid migraine headache 1. Maintain regular sleep wake cycle, even on holiday's. 2. Don't skip meals. Take regular healthy diet with adequate fluids 3. Do not consume excess caffeine / carbohydrates / alcohol or smoke. 4. Exercise daily ( aerobics and cardiovascular) 5. Identify your headache trigger and try to avoid it. 6. Do pranayam daily. 7. Acupuncture treatment has shown some benefits in migraine. In your case there might be benefit from a injection called Occipital nerve block in scalp. Consult a pain specialist for such injection or therapies like dry needling or botulinum injections for your problem. Consult again for further queries.

What is the reason of my hair fall just advice me. How can take care of it please doctor.
Nutritional deficiency, stress and pollution are the main reason for hair loss. 1. Eat healthy – eat fruits, vegetables, and a high protein diet 2. Destress yourself. 3. Sleep for at least 6-8 hrs a day. 4. Have an oil massage at least twice a week with coconut oil or any oil of your choice. Condition your hair after shampooing.

Dear lybrate-user ji, Pimple or acne is not due to deficiency any specific viramine etc. So please don’t think to take additional zinc, vitamin-a, c and sillicea etc. It may be harmful. Avoid spicy & oily food, include green vegetable in your diet. Take PANCH TIKT GHRIT GUGULE 2-2-2 three times a day with water, Cap Talekt 2-2-2 three times a day, KHADIRA RIST 30 ml with equal quantity of water twice a day after meals. By this treatment your pimples or acne will be cured completely & your face will glow naturally. Please report me after a month.

I am having pain in my teeth from last few days and blood also coming from it. What should I do to overcome it?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
I am having pain in my teeth from last few days and blood also coming from it. What should I do to overcome it?
The type of treatment you have for toothache will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. • If your toothache is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. • If your toothache is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. • If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. • If your toothache can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

I frequently suffer from cough and cold even during summer also is there any ayurvedic medication is there for it.

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine Specialist, Faridabad
I frequently suffer from cough and cold even during summer also is there any ayurvedic medication is there for it.
you can take syp. honeytus 10 ml twice a day. Sneezing, sore throat, a stuffy nose, coughing - everyone knows the symptoms of the common cold. It is probably the most common illness. In the course of a year, people in the united states suffer 1 billion colds. What can you do for your cold or cough symptoms? besides drinking plenty of fluids and getting plenty of rest, you may want to take medicines. There are lots of different cold and cough medicines, and they do different things. Nasal decongestants - unclog a stuffy nose...i.e ................ nasal dop/spray.....nasivion Cough suppressants - quiet a cough...................................... syp. Brozedax Expectorants - loosen mucus so you can cough it up.............syp...zeet expectorant Antihistamines - stop runny noses and sneezing.....................tab/syp....levocetirizine Pain relievers - ease fever, headaches, and minor aches and pains.......tab..flucold plus . Here are some other things to keep in mind about cold and cough medicines. Read labels, because many cold and cough medicines contain the same active ingredients. Taking too much of certain pain relievers can lead to serious injury. Do not give cough medicines to children under four, and don't give aspirin to children. Finally, antibiotics won't take.

My hair is falling always and I want to stop it so give me any solutions that can help me.

My hair is falling always and I want to stop it so give me any solutions that can help me.
Protein - hair is made up mostly of protein so a protein rich diet is necessary. But not if your main source of protein is a large steak. In fact, eating large quantities of meat as americans do can be counterproductive. A steak will increase testosterone levels, and this has been linked to hair loss. Eggs are an excellent source of protein (see link below on how to boil the perfect egg). Also add nuts, seeds, beans and fish. Other good choices are organic soy foods, and hemp foods. I can add too that the korean diet has little or no meat on a daily basis.

Hello lybrate user- you are clearly over weight. At this stage you need some ayurvedic treatment along with the diet plan to achieve expected results. Try these modifications- a) wake up early in the morning and practice kapalbhati pranayam, it will benefit both in obesity and in diabetes. B) avoid junk food and excess use of potato. C) avoid excess water intake and over eating. D) add oat sattu in your diet daily two times. E) use arogya wardhini vati 1 tab twice daily after meals.

Golden Rule for Weight Loss

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Golden Rule for Weight Loss
A SIMPLE AND GOLDEN RULE FOR WEIGHT LOSS

Increase the amount of exercise and physical activity you get.

There are all sorts of weight loss programs claiming that they have the way to get fit and lose weight without exercise. What they all have in common is that they’re getting it wrong. Exercise is not a negotiable aspect for weight loss. The important thing to understand is that you have to get the body moving more than it currently is. That means different things for different people. Most of us have a sedentary life. Life is no longer active for us. We don't have to work in fields or get water from a well or travel places on foot. Life has been really simplified for us. Every work is now done by the click of a button. So, including some form of exercise becomes mandatory.

If you currently lead a sedentary lifestyle, you don’t want to go zero to three sixty overnight, or you’ll end up getting burned out. If you’re already pretty active you might want to consider amping things up and taking it to the next level if you’ve found that you’ve reached a plateau.

Another point to consider is that it doesn’t really matter what you do, or how much of it you do in any given day, but you’ll want to do it at least three times a week if it’s strenuous, or every day if it’s walking or other light activities.

I have been becoming anger even for small reasons. How to overcome this. Can you plzz help me.

M.S. Counselling and Psychotherapy
Psychologist, Bangalore
It is important to understand what meaning you make from others' words, actions and behaviours. Many times you may perceive others' actions/words from completely different view and they may mean something else. It will be a good idea to ask others what they mean, before getting angry with any one. Try to have open communication with the people around.

Dosage depends on what kind of acne you have. Some people need to take it every alternate day while some need once a day. If the acne is mild, you can give one day gap. Else take once a day. When it starts affecting, leave it for a week then again start.
